Shame re the yoga - but how exciting for baby to be coming that day! Hope we can all meet your baby girl once she arrives :)

You'll have to make the most of the next 13 days as a 2-some.

Baby is sat on my bladder this morning, think I'm managing about 20 minutes between toilet trips so far today!

Sam - yes I have GD, have been diet controlled thankfully so was under the impression I would be going to 40 weeks, was a bit surprised when they gave me 38+6 but whatever is best for the baby!

I had GD as well - I was diet controlled too, even though they tried to force the metformin on me, but they did tell me they would induce me at 38/39 weeks. Although it didn't happen in the end as he was breech so I had a CS :growlmad:

Just to let you know, when you go for your GTT 6 weeks after the birth, you might have to chase them for the result. They told me they would let me know, but after 2 weeks I was still waiting so I had to ring them and ask - it sounded like they had no intention of letting me know - not like it was anything major - like I might have diabetes!! Thankfully I got the all clear.

I was quite surprised by the attitude to metformin myself, they just handed it out to everyone in the room at the first clinic like they were sweets! I decided not to take it unless there was a need to though, side effects didn't sound very nice and turns out I didn't need it either.

Do you have the 6 week GTT back at Jessops?

I was really shocked about the blanket metformin approach as well. The other two women who were there with me started asking loads of questions relating to their medical history (not great for confidentiality) and they were advised in the end to try without. They told me to take it. When I tested my blood sugar that day it was really low, so I decided to do without it - especially as it says on the leaflet inside the box "not to be taken in pregnancy"!! At every appointment I had I kept being asked about metformin and I kept telling them I wasn't taking it - I was 36 weeks pregnant before they updated my notes to reflect this.

GTT - yes, they will try and book the 6 week GTT whilst you're in having LO, if not, they write to you with a date. PLus, they will have to check LO's blood sugar at regular intervals for the first 24 hours - which involves heel prick tests and one screaming baby! You will also have to ensure LO is fed by 2 hours after birth.

Good luck!

Just want to have a rant about Next on Fargate. I've never noticed before today, but they don't have a lift, even though the baby clothes are in the basement - how stupid is that! I asked the shop assistant why they don't have the baby clothes on the ground floor and she said they weren't "allowed" to have them there. Her only suggestion was for me to leave my pram upstairs - yeah right, like there's even room in that shop to leave a pram lying around, even if I wanted to leave my pram in a busy city centre shop, whilst I carried my baby, four bags of shopping and large changing bag downstairs to have a browse of baby clothes, that I wouldn't even have a hand free to pick up and buy anyway.

come on Next, what moron decided that was a good store layout?!

Sw121-that store must have been designed by someone with children!

Rachel-think that was a one off day, it's not always that bad!
Where are the weeks going?? It already a week since we had coffee!

I think the layout in Next in town is pretty awful generally, it doesn't make me want to browse :D

No idea where time is going, seems like a few weeks ago I was counting down the weeks to the 12 week scan. I have so much I want to get done but I just can't find the energy or motivation to do it!

Believe me, you need to enjoy doing NOTHING for as long as possible! I wanted to do tons in the weeks leading up to the birth - I did at first, but then took it easier at it got closer - I'm so glad I did - so busy now, I can't even remember what I did all day back then. Savour it whilst you can- get plenty of you time.

Not sure if anyone is interested but home bargains are selling tommy tippee bottles, sterilisers and breast pumps on the cheap. They are much cheaper than normal - mamas and papas are selling the same stuff at almost twice the price!
It's the home bargains by matalan on the parkway!
Happy shopping!

Awh, if I'd seen this yesterday I would have said come to town for coffee! :-)

I know what you mean about the weeks, now I feel like I'm hurtling headlong towards my maternity leave!

Any-one fancying aqua natal?

Have now test driven my maternity swim suit lol!

I might be able to go. I've got the midwife coming to see me at home on Friday morning.. but there isn't a fixed time so I just have to wait in until she arrives.

What time does aquanatal start?

Did the swimsuit live up to expectations then? ;-)

Lol - I'll bring my swimming kit in just in case I'm brave enough to go along or your free.

The suit suit is still as huge as it looks and fits, only thing is the ruche bits down the side to accommodate the bump ripple when swimming, but it does the job and keeps everything covered and where it should be. Just ho[ping I def look preg rather than fat now! :-)

Hi everyone, just thought I'd check in to see how you all are. I wish I'd gone to something like aquanatal when I was pregnant. I didn't go swimming once for the whole nine months :haha: Now I can't wait until Ethan's a few months older so I can take him.

I got some real smiles yesterday :) I'm so excited

Ah..... how cute! Bet it's a great feeling seeing him react to you!

Apparently with this aquatanal you can go postnatal and take your baby with you. I think they have people at the side of the pool to care for your baby whilst you do the class (I may be wrong!)

I still feel like I just look like a fatty in my costume but at least going to aquanatal it's obvious that you're not fat and you are pregnant!! My swimsuit isn't the best but it does the job and the quicker I'm in the water, the better! :)

I completely forgot about aquanatal and booked an appointment in town for 2.15 so I'm not going to be able to make it unfortunately!

emz - aww real smiles! That must be an amazing feeling :)

38 weeks today and while I would have preferred to let it all happen naturally I am secretly quite glad that there's no chance of me being pregnant for another 4 weeks!

Emz - Smiles, OMG that must be amazing! If you want to come to aqua natal the more the merrier. That said I haven't even tried to book yet!

Folly - What was your induction date?
