Siblings sharing a room?

I fully intend to have Abby share with her little sister/brother (if we ever get there) and we have 2 spare rooms! I grew up sharing a room and it was fabulous. As soon as the baby is sleeping through the night they would be in the same room.

My two share. DS nearly 4 and DD nearly 3. They shared from a very early age (before DD was 1)

They go to bed at the same time, we read them a book. Sometimes we'll hear them chatting and laughing together, but we don't mind <3 We'll give them ten minutes and then go up and tell them lights out.

They do tend to wake the other one up though in the morning. But they'll play in their room for a bit first. I can count on one hand how many times they've woken each other up in the night *touch wood*

My two love it, if one has woken up in the night and has come into our bed, the other always wakes up asking after the other.

If your DS is up for it - I'd do it now while you have the chance

OK so last night didn't go so well, Clara woke up shortly after Thomas went to bed (I don't think he woke her as he wasn't making any noise) and it took ages to get her settled back down which was obviously keeping Thomas awake. I felt terrible about it and thought it was so unfair on him. However when I asked him this morning if Clara's crying was keeping him awake, he said "no, it was putting me to sleep, it was like a sleepy noise" (by sleepy noise he means the white noise we play for Clara). !!

I asked him if he would like her to sleep in another room until she is sleeping a little better and he was adamant that he wants her to stay sleeping in with him. I guess maybe I should just stop worrying about her crying disturbing him as he doesn't seem too bothered.

My two girls have always shared, then when DS came along, we set the spare room up for him, he was barely in there before we had guests over so decided to chance it and put him in with the girls, he's still there 3 months later as they like having him in the room and do not want him to leave, they don't disturb each other apart from between 6 and 7 one will wake and the rest will magically wake as well especially as DD2 can reach the light switch :dohh: so I'm just leaving it until they are no longer happy with it

P.s. our DSs room has a single bed, with a pull out single bed underneath (it goes up to the same height) so when family come over from England they will have his room and he will go in with the girls (we will probably get a small sofa bed/futon type thing for their room so he has somewhere to sleep!)

Wow I like the sound of the single bed with a pull out single underneath, that's is exactly what we need for our spare room! We have a futon but it's getting a bit lumpy and bumpy to be honest and could do with replacing. The single bed converting to a double would be ideal because it would mean that Thomas could nap in there during the day if necessary and let Clara nap in the bedroom. So far naptimes have been fine but I think that may be where the biggest difficulties will be down the line (e.g. if they are keeping each other awake).

This is our problem on some nights too. My 'solution' which isn't really a solution, is to kind of leave them to it. Eddy doesn't do sleep training (it's like he just sees it as a game as he never cries....ever.....so it simply doesn't work in the way it's supposed to. No Cry sleep solutions don't work, he just wants to play lol) so I have taught Earl that when he wants to go to sleep, to pull his covers up so he can't see or hear Eddy and close his eyes. Eddy will then chat away in his cot until Earl is asleep, then I'll go in and turn off Earl's night light so Eddy is in complete darkness, Kiss and cuddle, then Eddy will drift off pretty soon after that. First few nights it took a while, but the other night when it happened Earl was asleep as normal by 7.30 so Eddy was therefore asleep by 8.
