"Slim" PCOS...?

I was diagnosed with "slim" PCOS in April 2011. I guess the slim comes from me not being overweight in the slightest. I am 5' 6" 128 lbs. I do not have the "typical" PCOS symtoms either i.e. hair loss or excess hair (not yet, fingers crossed). I have been on Metformin since April 2011 and switched to sugar free/whole wheat. I do still cheat on the sugar periodically. I just can't seem to stop myself.
I was wondering if anyone else that has been diagnosed with PCOS has the "slim" version?... any ltttc success stories?...does anyone know of anything I can do to aid myself in getting pregnant?!
I have always had a cycle regardless of the pcos so my dr. thought it I would be able to conceive with just the Metformin, but it just hasn't worked. Then the clomid doesn't work. I am losing faith and would love any encouraging words or advice.

I guess I would say that I have 'slim' PCOS. My doc told me something slightly different. He said I have polycystic ovaries but I don't have the 'syndrome' since all of my bloods came back fine and I have none of the symptoms. I'm 5' 5" and 114 pounds, bmi of 19 I think. I ovulate on my own and have cycles that range from 27-32 days. But the doc said that the polycystic ovaries interfere with the maturing of a dominant follicle and even though I do ovulate it may not be very well or properly matured. I also tried clomid, 3 rounds and nothing. Now I'm 5dpo after Follistim injections and I have FX'd. I've also drastically changed my diet, but I'm not sure if it's doing anything, and I of course cheat at times also.

I am not LTTTC so sorry in advance. (I am on my 7th cycle, soon 8th)

But I supposed I have "slim" PCOS as well. I am 5'6" and 120-130 pounds (fluctuates). I was just diagnosed last week due to high testosterone levels and a high LH to FSH ratio. I also do not have facial hair, etc. I got a pelvic ultrasound which came back normal. Oh, and I have somewhat normal cycles as well ranging from 26-38 days. So who knows.

I have not started any meds yet. My endo told me to see a fertility specialist so if AF comes this week, I will set up that appointment.

I have PCOS and am slim, but do have the excess hair - would love to be rid of that bit! Initially an FS told me I didn't have PCOS because I wasn't fat!! Consequently I insisted on seeing another one and got a proper diagnosis. I am having a 2nd lap next week (I had one last year to remove dermoid cysts) and then I am starting on Clomid so FX'd.

I wish to hear success stories from all of you, soon! Please keep me posted if anything interesting/helpful happens with any of you. If you just need to vent I am here for you too. Baby dust to us all!

I don't mean to be rude or anything. But I get very disheartened when I lurk in the LTTTC forums and see that women with PCOS have been trying for a long time. I guess I might have a long road ahead of me.

I wish you ladies nothing but the best, and you are the ones who deserve that BFP now, not later. :dust:

Lulu, I didn't think it was rude at all. At least you are not in the dark and know that you may have to seek help. This way maybe you'll get help after a year instead of longer like some of us LTTTC's. A lot of us LTTTC are glutton for punishment too; we go into the success stories and read them.

I too, often go and browse the success stories.

Well, my 8th cycle should start this week. My endocrinologist already told me to see the fertility specialist (I have Kaiser so everything is connected). He told me that normal couples conceive within 3 months (if they are timing intercourse, etc.) Guess we aren't normal.....

Good luck to you ladies....no offense, but I hope I won't be joining you guys! But if I do, see you in a few months!

I have pcos was diagnosed last year up untill recently i wasn't that much over weight, I was size 6 untill having my first then kind of average at a healthy size 10 found it hard to lose the weight from first pregnancy tho, then after having 2nd i went to a 14 and struggled for over a year to drop down to a 12 i find i put on weight really easily and struggle like mad to lose it, i am a size 14 now and just can't budge it! I have the nasty excess hair which i have noticed gets worse the bigger i am, when i was under a size 10 i never had any!

Charbaby: there's another lady on here, her name is cridge, she said almost the same thing. She was always thin. She was having trouble conceiving #1 but all her labs came back normal. She got pg on gonal-f and then at some point after having #1 she went on the south beach diet to lose some weight. She said she lost some but after she gained even more back and has been having not only a problem with her weight since then (6-7 years) but also other PCOS symptoms as well. Now I'm paranoid that my 'slim pcos' could turn into 'not so slim pcos'! Hopefully my naturally good eating habits will save me from that. Only time will tell.

Hiya, hopefully for you this doesn't happy but just to add my diet is pretty good but for some reason just gain weight, I don't eat chocolate / crisps very often and hardly ever get a takeaway, but what i have heard is pcos sufferers need to have a very low carb diet and thats one thing i don't do x

Hi. I don't have pcos or at least I have not been diagnosed, tho I have my suspisions. Anyway i have a friend who does have slim version (well she must do as she is slim) she took almost 2 years and eventually got pregnant after having her overies stimulated, she had a healthy boy. I hope you get your wish xxxx

That's good news. What did she have her ovaries stimulated with?

hey everyone :hi:

this is my first post in LTTTC, I'm not officially LTTTC yet...it's only been 10 months but I just got diagnosed with PCOS :( I'm slim too and have no other symptoms! I'm so upset about it, it was a big shock for me.

have you had an ultrasound? I've just been referred for one so hoping it doesn't take long. I'm cutting out sugar from now on and following the GI diet, I eat pretty healthy anyway so I don't think it'll be too difficult.

just wanted to offer :hugs: and let you know that I am in the same position now! xxxx

Hi ladies! I also have "slim" PCOS .... It must be rare as my doctor seemed surprised that I actually have PCOS ...(5'4 - 114lbs) I'm currently on 500mg of metformin and will start 50mg of Clomid this cycle! I really hope the clomid will work first cycle! Fingers crossed! I wish all you wonderful ladies a bfp soon! I know how discouraging it can be looking around the board and seeing so many ladies with PCOS and not many who are currently pregnant - however stay positive it will happen in time!! :flower:
