so angry with tesco.

Thats scummy. rotten so and so's. We are not that bothered by dates and use our nose and eyes to work out if something is probably ok or not. Eggs easily have a month out of date. Just use the bowl of water test to see how fresh it is. One of the only decent useful things they taught us at school.

Everything in supermarkerts comes with a satisfactory guarantee ...so as u obvio not statisfied just it back and u will get a refund.

i often see out of date stuff on shelves....they must have 0000's of fresh produce going out of date everyday and the chance are stuff gets missed.

Maybe im ******** but I thought reduced items were passed their sell by date and hence why they are reduced- I wouldn't kick a fuss if im honest. What would you of done if you lived 50 years ago and sell by dates didn't exist?

not trying to offend you but 'sell by' and 'use by' dates are completely different. as far as i know its against food hygiene laws in the UK to sell food products- especially meat products when they pass their 'use by' dates, even at a reduced price. it's only really refridgerated products that have both sell by and use by dates here as most dry foods can last a lot longer than their 'sell by' dates which is why they are allowed to be sold past their dates at a lower price. i have a certificate in food hygiene. i think she's right to kick up a fuss.

Yuk!! Def complain.
I buy all of our meat from the reduced shelf and freeze it

I wouldnt phone trading standards as you prpbably need to complain to teso first. I would imagine trading standards would be next port of call IF tescos dont either reimburse you or compensate u in some way.

xo

I wouldnt phone trading standards.

I used to work in Tesco and it really didnt effect me if i had to waste meat out of date, i cant see why anyone would intentionally cover up a date.

It was probably just a cock up, it happens, take them back get a refund and then call customer services they will send you a gift card.

Ewww! I would complain to Tesco as they should b e been more careful with labelling it, people can get ill off stuff like that

I had the same thing with cheese - It was in date though. I had to take it back to the shop with the receipt and they got me fresh stuff

I've worked in 3 different big store chains, and the procedures were the same in all three - it's as likely to happen in any of them. It does happen, purely down to human error as stuff DOES get missed on occasion. It is illegal to sell stuff past its use by date, but there's nothing that comes up on the till (or not in any of the 3 chains I've worked in) about use by date. Stores are good with stuff like that though, if you take it back to customer services they'll give you your money back, and if you write a letter to the main company customer services you'll usually get a gift card and/or vouchers. xx

 id just take em back and get your money back. reduced stuff is reduced because it is getting close to sell by date it shouldnt be completely out of day especially meat.

If you scream at them angrily for a bit, they'll probably give you free stuff...

I used to work on Customer Services and it used to absolutely boil my pi$$ when people did that it makes the worker feel 2 inches tall and it's an absolute rotten thing to do all for a £5 gift card!

I think trading standards is alittle far fetched tbh, you need to contact the store so they ca investigate and stop it from happening again, Trading standatfs is normallu there if the company refuse to understand or act upon your complaint.

I agree. If I have to make a complaint I stay calm and polite even if I am fuming because it isn't the customer service workers fault if something has gone wrong on the shop floor or with a home delivery. I feel sorry for customer service staff with some of the people they have to put up with!

This. I used to be a customer service manager (not in retail), and staff are much more likely to be in your favour if you handle your complaint calmly.

I always complain by email these days, I find I can say everything I need to say, and they have written evidence of your complaint. I complained a couple of days ago to co-op as I was stopped by a security guard and accused of shoplifting  Obviously I wasn't shoplifting, but I had Holly with me and the whole thing was ridiculous. I got searched in front of all the other customers, and he had to admit defeat in the end. I have yet to hear back though, I'm too scared to go back in there in case they tailgate me the whole time

Omg how horrible and embarrassing for you, I hope that they apologise to you for that!

Ring trading standards, then take your sausages back to the store. If you scream at them angrily for a bit, they'll probably give you free stuff...

Nope if you screamed at me you'd get nothing come and talk to me like another human being and yes I'd help

I would just take them back and get a refund  I don't really see what the big deal is. Stuff like that happens, it's not really anyone's fault? I've had chicken from Morrisons go off before it's use by date and I just wrapped it and took it back and exchanged it for a fresh one

^^ This. Why would you phone trading standards before you've even complained to the store? I'm sure if you took it back you'd get an apology and a full refund
