so angry with tesco.

DH works for Tesco Customer Service. Phone and explain calmly what happened. DH says he's more likely to be more sympathetic if you speak politely to him than if you go off on him.

Probably an honest mistake and I think Trading Standards would laugh at you if you reported it to them

If you scream at them angrily for a bit, they'll probably give you free stuff...

I used to work on Customer Services and it used to absolutely boil my pi$$ when people did that it makes the worker feel 2 inches tall and it's an absolute rotten thing to do all for a £5 gift card!

I agree. If I have to make a complaint I stay calm and polite even if I am fuming because it isn't the customer service workers fault if something has gone wrong on the shop floor or with a home delivery. I feel sorry for customer service staff with some of the people they have to put up with!

This. I used to be a customer service manager (not in retail), and staff are much more likely to be in your favour if you handle your complaint calmly.

I always complain by email these days, I find I can say everything I need to say, and they have written evidence of your complaint. I complained a couple of days ago to co-op as I was stopped by a security guard and accused of shoplifting  Obviously I wasn't shoplifting, but I had Holly with me and the whole thing was ridiculous. I got searched in front of all the other customers, and he had to admit defeat in the end. I have yet to hear back though, I'm too scared to go back in there in case they tailgate me the whole time

Wow i would be scared to go back too! I recently emailed asda a complaint, they sent back a generic sorry email. I was in the shop and the till operator refused to take all my 10% gaurentee vouchers because i would " saving too much money" (his exact words) and joking with customers in line behind me about me using vouchers. It was so embarrassing. He refused to call someone over ao i had to go to customer services at the shop myself

:( That's terrible! it annoys me when companies don't take a genuine complaint seriously. I'm still waiting to hear back from co-op! I'm not wanting compensation or anything, but an apology would be nice :growlmad:
