Sparkler Mums and Babies Thread!

That's lovely Seraphim!

Glad to see the group near the top of the forum!

So, I have a question: Cole will only nap on me or DH during the day... Sleeps just great at night (usually 6-9 hour stretches *touch wood*) but I'd love to get him to nap in his crib for awhile before we move him to it for good. I've got no rocker in his room either, can't afford one right now as DH was out of work for a good solid two months after LO was born. Any ideas or tips?

I have just started getting Thomas to take his naps in his cot (used to always have to rock him in his bouncy chair).
I just waited till he was tired then brought him upstairs and did a mini-version of the bedtime routine - pulled blinds, put him in sleeping bag, sung a lullaby, and told him sleepy time. Then I put him in the cot and sat beside him till he fell asleep. He cried for about 5 minutes the first few times but then settled down and went to sleep. However, I knew that he was able to self-settle because he has been doing it at bedtime for a while. Does Cole self-settle at bedtime - if not I would work on that first as apparently naps are generally harder than bedtime.

Wow Seraphim, I didn't realize that you could click on it and it would bring you directly to the thread! You are now a computer genius in my eyes! In that case I hope no one minds if I add it to my signature even though Thomas ended up being an October baby.

Wowee - just added the sig. Fancy!!! Now i'll remember to check here more often :)

Had LO down at childrens A&E yesterday. He'd been a bit poorly for a few days, then yesterday morning had some type of fit whilst I was giving him some water. I completely panic-ed and the doctor told me to bring him straight to the hospital. Turns out he may have just had a wee bug (possibly from baby group I think) and then he had a choking episode, which made him gag, which made him upset, which made him more upset..if you know what i mean? Was scary! OH came home from work though which helped so we both sat with him all day. He's a lot better this morning though and back to his normal giggly self :)

I swear...no more kids!! The pain you go through when they go through pain is almost unbearable!

I know, there are definitely a lot less of us this side of it! I also noticed oushka is around but i don't think she's posted on this thread- i wonder if she knows we're here?

Found you! :hugs: Thanks to Seraphims fab siggy thing (which Im about to pilfer so I can find my way back here again)

Ive been terrible and not really been on BnB since Belle was born - It was such a life line during pregnancy but we've been so busy since... New resolution to spend more time here :)

Glad to hear everyone is well - I really cant believe we all have 3 month old babies! Squeee! :happydance:

Phew, a minute to myself!!

When i first got Marley home from hospital i couldnt walk because of my stitches, and my OH was ill too, so my MIL took Marley to stay at hers overnight (she lives a 60 second walk away...literally around the corner) and i cried and cried. It really helped though. Now, every Saturday he stays at his nanas (the MIL) til Sunday evening. She has her other 2 grandchildren at the same time.

Now I love my Marley Moo to pieces, of course i do, but it really helps that i get one night a week to myself (my OH isnt too confident with him still) and i can have a drink, or see my friends etc. Now i feel kinda bad that i enjoy having a baby free night, not that im glad hes not here with me of course cos i always miss him but,..... do you know what i mean? Am i awful?

Yay! we're all coming back!
The babies are obviously all being super kind to us now

I found it a pain getting back to this thread ;)

I'm a bit sad we're having to 'put Hazel to bed' but she's brighter with the sleep... I just misssssss her

We always had a spare basket/crib downstairs which helps for naps, but the familiarity with bedtime might mean we start putting her upstairs for naps too :(

Aw, I still cant bring myself to put Belle to 'bed'. Atm she naps on the settee (with a wedgy thing to stop her turning over/rolling off), she even goes 'to bed' there from about 8pm ish and I take her up to cot with me at around 11pm. We dont watch much tv of an evening - we tend to read/chat so she isnt disturbed.
For now it works and shes happy so I dotn want to change it... am I making future problems?! I just want to be able to look at her all the time... We dont even own a monitor as Ive never had her out of my sight (well twice, but she was with her grandmother) and cant begin to imagine her being upstairs alone.

Oooh, on thursday I started blowing raspberries at her & on saturday afternoon she blew them back! It was soooo funny watching her try to copy on thurs/fri that when she finally managed I praised her so much she wont stop doing it now

We went shopping today & put her in the forward facing pushchair and she was smiling at everyone... I wondered why everyone was saying hello to her/us and thought it s bit strange until I caught our reflection to see her beaming

Oushka - what a gorgeous little baby you have there!! How cute, love the story of the raspberry blowing - how adorable are these babies eh!

Quick question - how many boys / girls do we have here? Also, is it about time for some photos?

Definately time for some photos!

Ill dig one out later.
Thank you Chrissie - she is a little sunbeam... most of the time lol

Have HV coming today :growlmad: probably to make sure we have baby rice at the ready... I hope Im wrong - but they are obsessed with spoon-fed weaning at 17weeks (and I would like to bf for as long as possible and blw at 6months). I maybe pleasently surprised... they havnt been out since early dec as we had so much snow they had to cancel previous appts.

Also... is it really bad to stop Belle rolling over cos I dont want daddy to miss it?! No more tummy time until he gets home anyway

hey alll do ya mynd if i join ya?????

Hey welcome maryam - great to have you here.
Oushka, my HV is coming at the end of the month to talk weaning. I also want to bf till 6 mths and then blw, let me know how it goes x

I love this photo, it was her first proper day out watching her big sis in a rowing competition.

and just in case the pic doesnt show, heres a link to it https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=3903098&l=245d8ebe5d&id=687681425

Loving the pictures girls. Will post one of Thomas when I get onto the other computer.

I also want to exclusively breastfeed for 6 months and then do baby led weaning. There was a study done last year of breast feeding rates in Ireland - they are shockingly low, and apparently only 1 in 450 women exclusively breast fed for six months as recommended by WHO! I find that a bit depressing.

https://www.imt.ie/opinion/2009/03/irelands_abysmal_rate_of_breas.html

I haven't mentioned to any of the public health nurses that I'm planning to do baby led weaning as I doubt they would have heard of it. At my three month developmental check I was given a whole stack of leaflets about weaning, I just nodded and smiled and said I was waiting till 6 months.

im ill atm n m brestfeedin so does that means nadim will get ill to...???

They recommend you still feed when you are unwell as the baby gets the antibodies or something like that.
Oushka, I can see why you love that pic, its gorgeous!

how often do ur lo's wake up in the night???

My LO sleeps through from 7pm-6am these days but he generally stirs at 2 and 4, mostly because his head hits off the side of the cot haha! I'm formula feeding though so that makes a difference compared to BF afaik...

Belle sleeps from 11pm until 8am (but goes down earlier, around 8pm & has feed at 11pm so i count that as bedtime). She has been easy to bed since 5 weeks.
