Sparkler Mums and Babies Thread!

So glad you are feeling better mommabunni. What amazing weight gain too - there will be no stopping him now!

Hi everyone! I had to take Jac for his jabs yesterday it was so horrible!!!!! My poor baby boy!!! Also I think he's teething already. He's quite dribbly and he keeps feeling his gums with his tongue. He's only 8 weeks old!!!

Chrissie - Yes! We have to meet up soon!! Can't wait to meet Katie! It's weird that last time I saw you we were still cooking babies and now they're actual little people!!!

My beautiful girl is a smiler :)

DH came home from work and gave her cuddles and this is the result.... masses of smiles and I am positive it is NOT wind!! :)

Aw well done capturing it on camera! Those are definitely smiles, we have had loads of smiles this week too, so gorgeous! :happydance:

Congrats to Snugglebot, wow 10 lb is huge!! My LO still isn't 10 lb yet at over 6 weeks!

Aww lovely pic chrissie  Toby is definitely smiling 'properly' now :cloud9: but we've yet to actually capture it on camera.

We are mostly all feeling better now after our stinking colds. OH is fine and 100%, Toby is still a bit snotty but much better, but mine seems to have gone on to my chest so now have a horrible rattly cough :(

I'm taking Toby to baby clinic tomorrow to be weighed and i cannot WAIT! The last weight we have for him is when he was 2 weeks old and the midwives did their last visit, he was 6lb 15oz then. I am dying to know how much he's grown, he seems quite a bit bigger to us, and has grown out of all his 'tiny baby' clothes (up to 7.5lbs) :D

Katie is being weighed on Thursday, she has been weighed weekly and has put on so much weight, I am sure she is now over 10lb.... she was 6lb 9oz born, by 2 weeks 7lb 11oz, 3 weeks 8lb 13oz and 4.5 weeks 9lb 8oz.... so I am wondering how much she will be at 5wk 6days....lol....

I have had to put away loads of her clothes, all of the tiny baby and new born, even some of the first size which are up to 10lb, but this is because she has long legs and big feet....lol.... its now a case of trying to get every outfit on her at least once to get some wear before she outgrows them!

Roll on Friday - because I had a C Section, I have been unable to drive, but at 6 weeks I am officially allowed again and thats Friday. Rebaby, can you believe Katie and Toby are 6 weeks on Friday??? How quick has that gone!!

Hello!!! Had Jac weighed today and he was 12lbs 8oz!!!! He was next to another baby who was a month old and I can't get over the size difference!!! I looked at Zoe's growth chart and he weighs now what she weighed at 4 months!

Still not ready for Xmas. Zoe was in her first nativity last week. I cried so much she was the best little angel I've ever seen!!

:) Had another weight check today. Gained another 9ozs in a week, we're up to 10lbs5oz! Cole will be one month old tomorrow and he's a "porker"! At least he doesn't look it as he's so looong. And now, some bragging pictures:

hey ladies!

quick question! do you all go every week to get baby weighed? i am going to go next week and it will be 2 weeks since she was last weighed.
My drippy HV never said i had to go every week or even when i should go at all!

confused!

LO got weighed last week and I'd to go back in two weeks (ie, next week) to get him weighed again. He's going to be such a porker, all he does is eat eat eat!!

At first the public health nurse weighed Thomas every week but she's happy with his weight gain and basically just said for me to drop down whenever I want to get him weighed from now on but there's no need to come every week.

Going to get him weighed this morning at the breast feeding support group anyway.

Rebaby, can you believe Katie and Toby are 6 weeks on Friday??? How quick has that gone!!

I know! People are forever saying to me "enjoy him, it goes so fast!" and you sort of think "yeahyeah" (in the same way as when people told you "sleep now while you can!" when you were pregnant ;) ) but looking back over the past 6 weeks i can see what they mean! It really has flown.

Happy "you can drive again" day anyway! Lol. Not sure you'll want to with all the snow though. We were visiting family yesterday and ended up driving home in a bit of a blizzard!

My big news is that i took Toby to baby clinic on tuesday and he now weighs 9lb 9oz!!!!! :happydance: (The last weight we had for him was at 2 weeks old when he was 6lb 15oz!) So we are over the moon :cloud9:

It sounds as though everyone's LO's are piling on the pounds which is just excellent

That's wonderful Rebaby! It's always nerve wracking when you dont think LO is gaining enough weight!

Soooo glad everyone is doing well!!!:happydance:

Hi - sorry for crashing in. I haven't logged on for a while and have just been catching up. I'm relieved to hear that other LOs have had weight concerns and that now they're all doing fine.

My LO is just over 4 weeks. She was 8lb 13oz when she was born and is now 9lb 2oz.

We had a bit of a shaky start with jaundice. Amy was very sleepy and had to be woken for feeds . She still has to be woken for feeds and we have to set alarms throughout the night, etc. But it was worth it and she started gaining about 6-7oz per week.

About 2 weeks ago, the milk came in properly (I'm BF) and my boobs were really engorged and hard. Amy stopped latching on properly and just nibbled at my nipples. Of course my nipples became really - and I mean REALLY - sore. I had to use nipple shields for about a week, but Amy's weight gain went down to 3oz. I was gutted!

We had some really good advice from the HV and the old nipples are feeling much better, Amy is feeding much, much better and has gained 6oz in 6 days. She has passed her birth weight, which I believe at week 4 is ok.

I would love for Amy to be a little more vigorous and to demand food a bit more often, rather than having to be woken, but maybe that will come later. (I may then regret wishing for this!!)

Big hugs to everyone, looks like everyone is doing a smashing job.

xx

Bella will be 6 weeks tomorrow!!

She's currently 9lb (weighed on wednesday)

I am so smitten with this boy!!!! He's making the most gorgeous little sounds now and we have lovely chats. I've got all his xmas presents wrapped up. It looks like I've hardly got him anything especially compared to Zoe but what can you get a 2 month old for xmas? He's the first grandson so he's gonna get spoiled rotten anyway.

Is everyone ready for Xmas? I'm not!!

Jac is gorgeous raerae, no wonder you're smitten!

We are having a really tough time here, everything is still going well with Toby, for which i am very thankful but my dad died on sunday morning :(

It was my birthday yesterday (tues) and i think that is when it finally started to hit me, but i still don't think it has really sunk in :nope:

I am just trying to focus all my energies on Toby right now as he is really starting to be more awake and alert and i want his first christmas to be a happy and special one, even if it will be a bit bittersweet.

Hope everyone else is okay? I notice some of our sparkler mummies have disappeared...i hope it's just because they're so busy having fun with their LO's

I'm so sorry to hear about your dad, Rebaby. What a horrible thing, it's awful at any time of year but i do think it makes it even harder so close to Christmas. Make sure you look after yourself hun.

Oh my goodness - I feel like my LO is such a porker in comparison. He was 8lbs 2 weeks ago and is now 10lb 3! I knew he'd gotten a lot bigger, but I didn't think it was *that* much bigger...

Sorry to hear about your dad Rebaby - my uncle died yesterday so I know how tough it is this time of year. My thoughts are with you :hugs:
