Insurance companies are the worst! They're so corrupt. Erin, I'm glad you have a good plan, at least someone is getting help from them. The IVF is such exciting news and seems like it's all going to happen really fast. Maybe you'll be so focused on that you'll wake up in the next few days and realize you won't need it! FX'd your bun is already in there cooking
I started Femara today!!! I'm pretty excited but just on 2.5mg. How much are you all taking? Also, I'm wondering about the ladies that take the trigger with it, are you doing that because you don't ovulate well on your own or for different reasons? The dr mentioned to me that I could do it and then 2 nurses told me it was something I don't need to do as I know I do ovulate on my own. This makes me confused if it helps with the "super ovulation" or is just a way for the office to make more money. I was in such a rush to get out of there, I either forgot the answer or forgot to ask if the Femara will change my cycle length. Last month I O'd on day 10 which was a couple days early for me, I'm hoping it'll push that back a bit.
To me, the trigger is only useful if you are being monitored with ultrasounds. Makes no sense to me otherwise if you O on your own. Let me explain my plan.
Basically I O on my own. I am taking femara & follistim to boost my eggs & make them ready. So my ultrasound on cd10 showed a mature follicle (earlier than a normal cycle for me). So they tell me to trigger to force the ovulation & make the egg fall. The trigger is supposed to be a guaranty of ovulation 36-39 hours after. This is used for better timed intercourse or better timing on the IUI (my situation). It takes out the guesswork. So my IUI is about 36 hours after the trigger.
So, does it make sense why I say only if being monitored? You do not want to force an O when you have no idea what the follicles sizes are. You could force an early O which is no good. But if you are being monitored, the trigger with timed intercourse is not a bad idea. This is all up to your own plan, but you may just want to try femara on its own. I know you have a timing issue with age & eggs. But the trigger was very uncomfortable for me & I had some major side effects. But I was also on follistim & femara...so who knows what was making me feel that way. But I did have like a constant bloating feeling. And I was almost sick the night of trigger. That was after 5 days of follistim injections...so I really think it was the trigger.
