Still looking for our May Flowers...

Insurance companies are the worst! They're so corrupt. Erin, I'm glad you have a good plan, at least someone is getting help from them. The IVF is such exciting news and seems like it's all going to happen really fast. Maybe you'll be so focused on that you'll wake up in the next few days and realize you won't need it! FX'd your bun is already in there cooking :flower:

I started Femara today!!! I'm pretty excited but just on 2.5mg. How much are you all taking? Also, I'm wondering about the ladies that take the trigger with it, are you doing that because you don't ovulate well on your own or for different reasons? The dr mentioned to me that I could do it and then 2 nurses told me it was something I don't need to do as I know I do ovulate on my own. This makes me confused if it helps with the "super ovulation" or is just a way for the office to make more money. I was in such a rush to get out of there, I either forgot the answer or forgot to ask if the Femara will change my cycle length. Last month I O'd on day 10 which was a couple days early for me, I'm hoping it'll push that back a bit.

To me, the trigger is only useful if you are being monitored with ultrasounds. Makes no sense to me otherwise if you O on your own. Let me explain my plan.

Basically I O on my own. I am taking femara & follistim to boost my eggs & make them ready. So my ultrasound on cd10 showed a mature follicle (earlier than a normal cycle for me). So they tell me to trigger to force the ovulation & make the egg fall. The trigger is supposed to be a guaranty of ovulation 36-39 hours after. This is used for better timed intercourse or better timing on the IUI (my situation). It takes out the guesswork. So my IUI is about 36 hours after the trigger.

So, does it make sense why I say only if being monitored? You do not want to force an O when you have no idea what the follicles sizes are. You could force an early O which is no good. But if you are being monitored, the trigger with timed intercourse is not a bad idea. This is all up to your own plan, but you may just want to try femara on its own. I know you have a timing issue with age & eggs. But the trigger was very uncomfortable for me & I had some major side effects. But I was also on follistim & femara...so who knows what was making me feel that way. But I did have like a constant bloating feeling. And I was almost sick the night of trigger. That was after 5 days of follistim injections...so I really think it was the trigger.

And my story is similar to beaglemom's. I O on my own as well, BUT I do O early without meds, so my OB thought maybe my egg was being released too soon and wasn't mature enough, or maybe my body just wasn't being given enough time to prepare for a fertilized egg. He wasn't doing ultrasounds or anything though, so he wouldn't have known for sure. Anyway, he had given me Clomid just to push my O out by a few days. Which it did. I started O'ing around day 13-14, and I even got pregnant on it (ended in CP). When I started seeing my RE, she gave me the Femara (works similar to Clomid), and added the trigger shot. She knows I O on my own, so I believe the reason she gave me that was because it just helps to time things better. So when she can see on an u/s that I have a mature follie, go ahead and trigger, so that they know when exactly to schedule the IUI. Takes all the guesswork out of it basically. She did give me the option of using the trigger and just having timed intercourse at home though. But I'm assuming going that route would've still meant coming in on day10 for an u/s to make sure the follies were mature.

So, tonight is the IVF seminar that DH and I will be attending. It would've been nice to have a little more notice, but it's good I called yesterday, because it's an absolute requirement of my clinic, and the next one wouldn't have been until June 15th! I literally called them just in time. I don't know what it will consist of, but I'm guessing it just goes over everything that IVF entails, and probably helps people make a more informed decision and make sure its even something they want to do.

Thanks Girls, I'm supposed to call and schedule my ultrasound when I receive my first positive OPK, maybe if it looks good and ready I'll ask if it's a good idea to do a trigger or superfluous in my case. I don't want to be in so much pain I'm not in the mood bd. I was just a little confused with the dr telling me I could and a nurse saying it's not necessary. I think the dr may think I might not O normally because last month when I went for the u/s during O as part of the work up, I missed it by a day so he didn't see definitive proof I O'd.

:happydance: That's so exciting!!! I can't wait to hear what it entails.

Suzy, sorry for the BFNs. :( I know the feeling at the moment. Although I don't have the frustration of wondering where AF is... Remind me, how late is it for you now?

AFM, despite a nice jump in temp this morning, I had another bfn. I don't feel even remotely like AF is coming. I know 26 days is short, but I figured with an early O on cd12, that my cycle would be shorter and I'd at least have that pre-AF spotting by now that I always get every cycle. Cd27 is the latest it has ever begun for me, so I guess it'll show up by tomorrow, and AF maybe a couple days later. Then again, I have no idea if my body will be different on the Femara or not. Clomid didn't change whether I spotted or not, but who knows about Femara.

If I O'd, I should be around 17 DPO. The cramps have finally subsided in the meantime. Still no AF. I feel some small twinges now but nothing more. Can an OBGYN prescribe Clomid or other drugs that improve/help fertility?

That's where I got my clomid.

I'm excited for you Erin! IVF seminar tonight and this cycle is still in the running! Good vibes

Thanks beaglemom! Good to know! I don't know if I should mention Clomid. I think I'll just hear him out first and then decide. Right now I really feel like I'm in need of medical advice.

So, did they write you a prescription for the shot? If they wrote the prescription and you do decide to do it, it might be a good idea to go ahead and get it filled... it seems to be way more of a process getting the shot than just the pills. My regular insurance pays for the pills, but the shot moves into the fertility category and its considered a "speciality drug" by them, so in order for them to pay for it, I had to get it through a specialty pharmacy too, which was a mail-order pharmacy. I had to get my Dr to call them and give a pre-authorization and also put a STAT on it so that they'd get it to me in time. I dont know if its that complicated for everyone, but it might be a good idea to look into it. :flower:

Suzy, my OB gave me clomid. And it wasn't even covered under my fertility plan. It was covered under my regular drug plan. I'm sure they can do Femara as well, since it's a very similar drug.

Moni That sounds very serious and scary. I am so glad you are doing better!

beaglemom Sending you some positive vibes. I know this is when I got a little bit

Erin YAY for no AF!! Good luck tonight and learn lots! Please let us know how it goes.

Suzy My obgyn prescribed me clomid but said that was all the he could prescribe me. So once those cycles failed I had to have a fertility specialist prescribe me femara/letrozole. But my ob was not very good or caring. I bet yours will be much much better!

Trust me, it was difficult turning down the appointment but I really think my hubby needs to be there with me since he has had zero tests run and I would like him to know what to expect as far as the plan the RE has for me. An appointment in two weeks isn't too bad and hopefully if AF does show I will be at the very beginning of my cycle at my appointment, might give us some more flexibility as far as tests. I am going to call on Friday to double check about cancellations for next week.

Erin, I hope I didn't offend you with my rant about insurance companies! I am glad that at least you have some awesome coverage...any jobs available where you work? :haha: haha, just kidding! I am so glad you called your RE yesterday too, just in time for the IVF class!! Can't wait to hear all about it, very exciting to finally be moving on and just getting one more step closer to being pregnant! I saw your temps are still high and I have my fx'd, if that dip on Monday was implantation then it might take another day or two to get your bfp.

Michelle, hoping AF shows soon so you can move on and get the next cycle started.

Moni, I am so sorry you were in the hospital, especially during the fertile window! Glad you are feeling better though...btw your black eye comment made me laugh out loud, it would be embarrassing to be in the ER with a rough sex injury!

Suzy, glad you have an appointment on Monday, hopefully you will get some answers.

AFM, nothing new here...still waiting for a + opk. My temp went down so I don't think I ovulated yet.

Michelle - I'm on Progesterone suppositories (100 mg x twice a day) starting 3 DPO which is increasing my temps I think. I've also heard that Progesterone can be used to induce AF if it doesn't arrive but you're not pregnant. I don't know the reasoning behind it but I have heard of that.

Erin - glad to see your temps are now up again. Fingers crossed for you that you can still get a BFP this cycle. If not, sounds like you are on the right path to prepare for the next step!

Wantaminime - hopefully the Femara will do the trick for you. I have no experience with trigger but you're in good hands with Erin and Beaglemom sharing their stories.

Moni - hope you're feeling better. What a scary experience! Take care of yourself!

Savvy - hope you get your positive OPK soon!!

Beaglemom - 10 DPO is still very early. Praying for your BFP!!

I dropped my parents off at the airport this morning. I was a little sad to say good-bye to them but also glad that I'm now back to my regular routine. DH says we have to go out and celebrate sometime this week because we "survived" my parents' visit! LOL!

I'll start testing tomorrow. Hopefully we'll have "something else" to celebrate as well!!!

No, they just mentioned maybe doing it, more of a see if you need it approach...With the Femara, they didn't give me the rx, just called it in after the ultrasound. Thanks for the advice, I don't want to be running around like a chicken with my head cut off looking for a shot instead of enjoying the only fun part of ttc! They actually didn't even mention what the trigger was or anything, just said it was only about $40-$50 because they know my ins doesn't pay for any treatments.

floridasian, glad you survived your parents visit! I am sure it was nice to spend time with them. Fx'd for a bfp...it will be really funny when you are telling your child that you conceived them while Grandma and Grandpa were sleeping in the other room!

If you are like me, you are usually happy when company finally leaves & you can have your life back. When people leave my house after a visit even my dogs are wiped out!

I know it is still early so I am not discouraged. But I am having pretty intense cramping today. So I hope it is not a new cycle about to start :( My husband is staying very optimistic. He says it's only Wednesday...we will get very good news soon.

The only other thing I have going on his my lower back is sore. But I also do not think I have been drinking enough fluids lately. When I get pregnant, I am going to have to count bottles in order to be sure I drink enough. I am a person who usually only drinks fluids when I am eating...which is not good.

Yes I'm happy that I finally have my life back!! It's exhausting trying to always be "your best self" and trying to keep the house in pristine condition for two and half weeks!

At least you are having some symptoms - whether they are AF symptoms or BFP symptoms (oh why do these two have to be SOOOOO similar??). I'm 8 DPO and have absolutely ZERO symptoms. No cramping, no twinges, boobs don't hurt, even my skin is not breaking out, which is really odd.
