Still looking for our May Flowers...

Beaglemom, good luck with your IUI and your Mom tomorrow. Hoping you feel better too. It is getting so difficult for me to make excuses, I almost just told my mom yesterday but I couldn't. With everything else going on I just couldn't throw the talk of m/c and infertility into the mix right now. Thanks, I hope I can get back in quick if I tell them I am cancelling because of a funeral for my grandfather. Sometimes things happen for a reason and maybe this appointment was just not meant to happen on Tuesday.

Hi girls, I've been absent for a few days, but I knew beaglemom's IUI was coming up, so I wanted to pop in and say good luck today beaglemom!! :) This one is it for us! You'll have to let us know how things go w/ your mom too. Give us an update later if you can. I'll be curious to hear if you feel the same as I did with O. That trigger really did a number on me! But it went way the day after the IUI, and I've actually been feeling really great since then. Oh, btw, I've been testing w/ HPTs a little bit (to test out the trigger), although I'm not gonna do it everyday. There were two days it was very dark, then I skipped a day, and the next two were really light, especially yesterday's. Yesterday's was super faint. I skipped this morning. It's def making it's way outta my system really fast.

Savvy, I was so sorry to read about your grandfather. :hugs: I know how much you loved and respected him in every way. From what you've said, he sounded like an amazing man, and it's certainly a shame when it's time for someone that great to leave this earth. But as you already know, he's in a better place now, and will no longer have to suffer w/ being sick. I bet you'll fall pregnant any day now, and perhaps your child will end up taking after him and will grow up to be as great as he was. flower:

Hi everyone! I'll catch up more later when I have more time to finish reading through posts. I'm hosting a BBQ today, so I need to run!

Savvy, I'm so sorry for your loss. Best wishes for you and your family getting through the sad times.

Ok, ladies...I wanted to post all day but we have been out all day & I hate making long posts on my phone. So here goes.

We woke up super early. My mom works nights, so she worked Fri night before coming to my house. So she was out as soon as we got home. So we didn't say anything about it. Then we were up & she asked about breakfast but we said we had to go out for a bit. We told her we were coming home soon & not to leave. She never really asked what we were doing. I told my husband if she asked, I was just going to tell her. So never had to do that.

So we get there about 7:30 with a 7:45 appt. My IUI was set for 8:45...We were out by 9. The lady came in & told me the count. So you guys may remember, but here is my count history...SA 12 million, 1st IUI count was 12 million, post was only 1 million :( , 2nd & 3rd IUI count was 42 million, post wash 4 million!!! :happydance: , this IUI I do not know the count but the post wash was 9.6 million!!!!! :happydance: Very exciting. So he was actually on the high end of the min they look for. I think she said 4-10 million is what they want to see. So we start & I have to say, this one was much more painful than the others...I actually flinched a couple of times. She said there was a lot of cm...& also the specimen went in very well. She started everything by asking if it was my first IUI..I told her no, but this one will be my last! She said I hope so...I have had some good luck lately. Then a few hours later (I felt very bloated & cramping) I went to the bathroom for the first time after & there was quite a bit of spotting. But none after that. I never spotted before. But then the rest of the day I had lots of cm.

We are pretty wiped out, but if we aren't too tired, I plan to BD again tonight.

So overall, I have to say, I think I am getting pregnant this month ;)

 Huge thumbs up for the great numbers, beaglemom!

I'm hoping this is it for you too!! Can't wait till you start testing!!

I'm o'ing late this cycle. It's CD12 and I still don't have a positive OPK yet for some reason. Maybe the antibiotics (which I'm still on) messed me up. We'll see what happens tonight and tomorrow.

Floridasian, I hope you O soon. I know you are so excited for this cycle to really begin.

I am very excited about the numbers. I will have to call to see if I can get the pre-wash count. The only thing that can possibly effecting the count are the vitamins & supplements. He has not made any other major changes.

Hey that sounds great beaglemom! FX!!!

beaglemom, I'm so glad to hear everything went well and that DH's count was up AGAIN! That just goes to show you how good supplements can be for anyone! :) So now you are in wait mode like me. I think this is the month for us. :winkwink:

Brief update...I called & asked about the pre-wash count...only 11 million...so with a post wash of over 9 million, that is like an 80% recovery!!! Those buggers are strong & determined this cycle! Recovery previous cycles was only 10% & a much lower count!

So even though the count was down from the previous 40 million now 11 million, the post was was still over double & apparently this batch is better quality if the count after was so high. Overall, I am even more excited...it is almost as if the boys are ready for combat (in a good way)!

Erin, sorry if you already said, but did they tell you the counts for your husband? I am sure they were great since he had a good SA.

My DH's original count when he did his SA a few months ago was 179M. This time, though, his pre-wash count came back at 134M, which had me a little perplexed, but my RE said that could be from a number of things... maybe when we did the original SA, we abstained for a couple days longer or something. She said a lot can go into that, and she wasn't concerned. Anyway, so... his numbers for the IUI for pre-wash 134M and his post-wash was 94M.

I love that your DH's boys are ready for combat!!! Go swimmers!

Got hubby's new SA results from last week - his count and motility are now in the normal range, but morphology is down to 1% - so we will still be doing the ICSI with the IVF - which is where they put the sperm directly into the eggs. Doc also said my TSH level is slightly high and so I may want to take a supplement for it.

As for the cysts - he said since we are waiting until July/Aug anyway, lets just let them resolve on their own. I will go back for baseline testing at the beginning of my next cycle and if they have not resolved by then, we may look into alternatives.

Glad you updated, Moni! Sorry about the morphology. I'm SUPER excited that you're doing IVF, I have to admit. I can hardly wait to see that BFP. :) But I'm still hoping that you'll get a nice little surprise while trying naturally. I hear that happens a LOT. I'm not sure how many IUIs I will do before moving on to IVF, but I know for a fact that I will move on for sure if IUI doesn't work (although I'm thinking positively and I'm assuming it will work ). Just not sure how many tries to give it. I suppose I'll ask my RE. She didn't feel that IVF was going to be necessary for us, but I want to know how many IUIs she recommends before moving on.

Here's to hoping your cysts resolve on their own! I'm sure they will. You have plenty of time!

We had planned to do 4-5 IUI's (since it increased our chances to 20%) but we're ready to move after the last (#4) because I feel everything was perfect for that one and I was pretty upset when it didn't work. Oh forgot to mention, with IVF you have to choose whether to insert 1 or 2 eggs and hubby wants to do the 2 - no pressure needed. I've heard the same about getting a BFP while waiting for IVF - but don't want to get my hopes up - I am trying to relax the next couple of months!

Good luck Moni...IVF is very exciting! I think I will just do 2 IUIs with the FS before moving on. But I will also talk to her about it. She did not even really mention IVF in our consultation. She said a few cycles of IUI. The IUI is costing us about $1500 with meds...so that is something to consider. Do you move on to the higher success rate or keep at the cheaper IUI? I think MAX is 3 FS IUIs.

We are already prepared financially for IVF...at least we know where we will probably borrow it from...we do not have it in the bank. But we will def talk to their financial specialist first before we do anything. I hope you get a natural surprise. While you are waiting for IVF, be sure to take good care of yourself. You want to be in a healthy state before taking it on.

I hope by the end of the summer, none of us are in the TTC boards anymore! :)

Moni, multiples is def a risk that makes me nervous about IVF...that & the time off & just everything your body goes through. But I think the toughest part would be chosing how many to implant. They usually give you odds based on your situation & a logical suggestion. I think I would be too nervous to do more than 2. I can handle twins, but I don't think I could handle triplets! But then you think what if it's not enough? But I think 2 is def a good number.

So is that percentage one that your RE gave you based on yours and DH's situation? Or is that generally overall how much everyone's chances are increased with IUI? I've never looked it up before, so I have been wondering. I agree with your idea of moving forward... I'd be ready after 4 as well. In fact, I will probably make a move after 3. I'm getting very, very impatient. And btw, GREAT idea to just relax the next couple of months. You know that you have a great procedure after that little break, that will probably work for you! That would help to put my mind at ease as well. So you should just take it easy and enjoy life without worrying about all this TTC stuff.:flower:

Erin, I think with IUI your success rate is moved up to a normal couples chances of conceiving which is 20%. So for someone like me with low count, my normal success rate may be 2% (just guessing) so IUI puts me in a great position. But some women don't think 20% is good enough. And that rate can probably change based on your own situation. MY FS did not give me a success rate. But I think this lines up wit what I have read online.

What Beagle said in terms of success rates - it brings us up to the normal person average which is 20%. IVF w/ICSI is a 70% chance for us I think - I'll have to go find my notes from my initial consult - I do know it was almost a for sure thing as compared to the other percentages.

Nowadays I do not think they let you put in more than 2 - so you really are just deciding between 1 and 2. The plan is to hopefully have more, freeze the rest so that if it doesn't work the first time, you have a bunch in reserve and don't have to go through the entire process again (called FET - frozen egg transfer) - cuts the cost considerably. Most people would start with 1 and if that doesn't work, the next time try 2 frozen, but we are going to start with the 2 since it has been such a long process. There is actually a higher chance of multiples with the medicated IUIs then with IVF now.

We have the money saved already - we had been saving to buy a house - so it is coming out of that. But it will be worth it!!
