Every thing says breastmilk is good for between 3 and 6 months in the freezer. That's a big range! I have milk that's about 2 months old in there. I know I'll use it before 6 months but probably not before 3 - do I really have to start rotating it out??

There are probably variables according to how you store it what temp its at etc. I think more recent studies have indicated its probably fine for a year or more. In general as long as its been stored and frozen propperly food doesn't actually go off in the freezer, it just looses some nutrition after its been there too long. So its not so much about it doing any harm just how long it keeps optimal nutrition for.

6 months in regular freezer (if it was frozen pretty much straight away, IMO, less if it sat in the fridge for a couple days, IYKWIM) and 12 in a deep freeze.

ETA I think Bunny is right, I don't think it "goes bad" in the freezer as long as it stays frozen. Might lose nutrients and taste though.
