we had our ultrasound in 12th week and everything was normal..by the end of week my wife had bleeding and was hospitalized... doctors did an immediate ultrasound and found NT was increased..3.7. doctors said there could be a chance of abnormality like DS.. consulted another doctor she said my wife had subchorionic hemorrhage and that might be the reason for increased NT. my ques is does subchorionic hemorrhage lead to down syndrome or other abnormalities. my wife is really scared now. we'll have our 16th week ultrasound on 23rd of this month. also triple marker test on the same day. pleas help!!!

I've never heard that an SCH would cause any abnormalities...DS is genetic wheras an SCH can be cause by a small placental tear or unexplained hemorrhage. I had two huge SCHs! It terrified me but here we both are happy and healthy and I get to see my baby sometime next month!
Maybe the SCH was near the nuchal measurement and that's why they're saying it affected the measurement???

An SCH wouldn't cause any sort of defects. I had a large hematoma in the first tri and was advised not to have the NT scan done because any bleeding in the first tri can impact the results of the test. NOT because of an impact to the baby but because of the image. Don't stress. Just take it easy and the hematoma should slowly go away.

I had a SCH from 12 weeks it was 9cm.. And got to 12cm at 18weeks and I lost the baby.. They said the baby wasn't effected in the way your talking about.
But I have heard many stories it won't lead to miscarriage..
But make sure she bed rests!!! Good luck :)

My previous 3 pregnancies, I've had spotting around 6-8 weeks. Always resulting in hormone level checks and ultrasounds. Doctor said it was a SCH resulting from when the placenta was forming and there was a small place where the placenta wasn't attached to the uterine lining. All resulted in 3 perfectly healthy babies and they bleeding stopped after a couple weeks.

Hi. I had an SCH at the beginning of my pregnancy and it is very scary. However I've never heard that it is linked to abnormalities. All of my tests for the baby are normal. In fact the day they were able to locate the bleed on the ultra sound the tech told me it was very common. She said she had seen 5 women that day and I was the 3rd with a bleed. They told me it should resolve itself when the baby grows and fills that area of the uterus. My bleeding did stop about a week later and has not returned. Unless there are other issues I wouldn't worry too much. Good luck!
