right, Kat and Ruby came round for a visit yesterday. Was all going well, we all went out the back and they were running about the garden having fun, and Ruby ran inside and the clever wee rascal turned the key in the back door and locked us out, and the front door was locked with the keys in it!!! So for about ten mins Kat tried to get Ruby to bring her the back door key and pass it through the letterbox, and she was being sooo good and going to the key and touching it but it had done a half turn and she couldn't get it out. So she started getting really upset
. All this time I'm trying to pick the back door lock with a drill bit and a screwdriver
(obviously unsuccessfully). A passer-by came to our "rescue" and unscrewed the letterbox but it wouldn't come off so he went round the back and we heard a lot of banging which I tried to ignore lol. It was getting to the point wer we wer considering phoning the fire brigade!! All this time poor wee Roo was lying on my sofa at the window crying hysterically shouting mummyyyyyyyy. Then my oh came home with his spare front door key but that didn't help as the key was in the front door. It was raining by this point. So he went round with the man trying to help us and started trying to take out the back window. I went round the front and by this time there was a collection of kids from the neighbourhood all seeing if they could reach the keys through the letterbox (they couldn't). I pretty much just yanked the letterbox off the door LOL and got a screwdriver and thought I might be able to hook the screwdriver through a keyring and pull the keys out (thank god for my collection of keyrings, I'll never complain about the size of my keys again!!) but Roo wouldn't move away from the door and I was afraid of poking her in the eye or something so all the kids went to the living room window and tried to coax her away, and Kat did the same at the back door. So she eventually moved and after a couple of attempts I flicked the keys out! Hooray!! Ran in and scooped the poor wee mite up. She was so unhappy, Kat got serious cuddles after that.
Thing is, the day before they came round, I was joking to Kat that if Ruby misbehaved we could lock her in the shed, be careful what you wish for, eh?
All's well that ends well. What a day! I hope Roo isn't too traumatised!!!
