The Open University and Distance Learning thread

I procrastinated last week so now i'm a wee bit behind - i have managed to catch up a little bit tho!!!! My next TMA has now started, so I am working on designing a board game - it's fun so far!!!

^ Sounds interesting!

Am still waiting for TMA03 results (the biggie, non-substitutable too ) and trying to work on TMA04 - there's a very tedious bit where we have to tinker with climate models and do a lot of calculations, ho hum at least I'm getting something done plenty of time before the cutoff date (13th July)

:flower:

i don't know if this has been asked yet, but wondered what everyones plans are when they finish ? :) work/postgrad/ move onto a brick uni for postgrad course :)

i'm not decided yet, but i don't start studying till October :) x

I think I want to have my own design business - but that is far off in the future - right now my ideal would be something working from home.

Ooh only just seen this :)

I've done introduction to counselling D171 with Open Uni and I'm currently doing News journalism as a distance learning course with the London school of journalism :)

Hiya AppleBlossom!

Rhi, I'm still undecided and I will graduate next year... it's gonna depend on if we succeed with TTC as well. If I fall pregnant I may stick with OU for some very part-time postgrad work, if not, currently I am interested in finding a job related to the Environmental Science side of my degree. Or maybe brick uni for postgrad work.

Rhi - I'm hoping to do my pgce when the kids start school and then become a teacher :)

Just got my results back and passed my Intro to Business Studies :happydance::happydance::happydance: The actual result wasn't that great (just 53% on the EMA!!! :nope:) but a pass is a pass :D And that means I'll get my certificate in business studies :happydance:

Still not sure what I fancy doing next, but I'm swaying towards Rules, rights and justice: an introduction to law (W100) that will get me a certificate in Legal studies, then if I like it I might do a BA (Honours) Business Studies with a Law specialism... there are just too many courses to choose from!

Have NO idea what I want to do after!!

^ Well done on passing! You are right, there are lots of courses to choose from. I thoroughly recommend looking at the student reviews from those who have completed the courses, on the course description pages. If you skim through all the daft comments (everyone saying the workload was higher than expected - everyone always says that about every course ) there can be some useful insights into what's actually involved with each course, it's helped me work out what's best for me before.

:flower:

Heya all - just need to share my elation at getting back my mark for that monster TMA I described on a previous post in this thread - huge, cumbersome, non-substitutable TMA03 ..........

86%!!!!!! I never even got that high at L2! :wohoo: I'm so pleased at the moment I'm bouncing about!

:holly:
xxx

I've submitted my etma! (diabetes care) now to work on my EMA.. oh dear looks like it will take forever, haven't even looked at it yet oops!

i've decided to do an open degree, don't really mind how long it takes as its just additional whilst i wait for college to start in september, plus i can do it on the side.

Can anyone recommend a 30 point or more course which you are enjoying doing? Anything except arts/literature/other languages.

Thanks! :) xx

Well done Tallybee, thats amazing!! Do you think level 2 courses have a lot more work than level 1? I know it's obvious they are bound to, but I was just wondering how much by

The dog - I really enjoyed DB123 Personal finance, it made me open my eyes to my own finances!! It goes into loads of stuff like expenditure and budgeting, debt, savings, pensions... all sorts! Thats if you like that kinda thing I know it's not everyones cuppa tea and some find it boring, I thought it was interesting though!

Thanks all!

thedog, I can recommend all the courses I've done (see 1st page of this thread for list) All of them are 30 pts or more apart from SDK122 :)

The open degree programme rocks! I'm like you, a good mix of subjects keeps my interest

well done tallybee - that is a brilliant grade!!!!

I am still working on my TMA - it's broken up over 4 weeks, as it's alot of work - I've nearly finished for this week so most nights next week I will be working!!!
