The Open University and Distance Learning thread

Thanks everyone, its the first time in my life i've passed a course/exam, at school i got nothing lol, i'm normally so unenthusiastic!
Got EMA due for Sept 23rd, have no idea where to begin, so i think i will put it off another month  Is anyone doing SK120 diabetes care? I have to write a 2000 word article aimed at a charity explaining a standard... blah!!!!!!

Can i join? Im studying k101 an introduction to health and social care, i got my exam date today! Very nervous i have struggled a bit but its worth it, to hopefully get a degree inhealth and social care :)

Hi! :) how did your exam go? I think i will be doing K101 next, but not 100% sure! They usually take a couple of weeks to get back to you with the score x

hi girlies,
sorry i haven't been around - been snowed under with TMA03; and been sick so it's all a bit much. will be back next week after the TMA has been submitted :D

No worries :hugs: hope you feel better soon! xx

Well everyone I am very pleased to have got 88% for my latest TMA! :happydance:

Thanks! It may even be possible to get a distinction for this course - and being a level 3 60pt course that would actually count brilliantly to my final degree class! It's so brilliant to finally get recognition for hard work :)

:happydance:

Now I need to do this news article effort....

xx

aww well done, that is a brilliant grade!!!! congratulations :D :D

I have just submitted TMA03, just one more TMA to go then it's my EMA which is my portfolio and essay.....

Well I have sent off my news story... no idea how good it'll be considered but at least I get 5 marks automatically for having it sent in already! I wish I could share it here for feedback but that's most defo not allowed

Hi everyone! I'm so glad I found this thread although I'll probably never find it again it's well hidden! I'm in the middle of applying to do modern languages. I would eventually like to become a modern languages teacher, does anyone know if it's possible to do this all through OU or will I have to go to 'proper' uni afterwards?

TIA xx

Hiya, glad you've found us! You should automatically be 'subscribed' to the thread now that you've posted in it, so can get back to it via User CP near the top left of the screen

I don't know fully about routes into teaching I'm afraid but I do know for sure that O.U. do this. https://www3.open.ac.uk/study/undergraduate/education/pgce/index.htm

I recommend calling their careers advice people if you need advice, they're really helpful :)

Best of luck, and hope to see you back here!

Hey my friend said she works with a lot of teachers who have open uni degrees - it's my aim to teach too :) so I was really worried about doing an OU degree over a normal uni one.

Aww thank you guys :)
Had a look at that page and hopefully looking like I will be able to teach!
Yay xx
