Things we dislike

Having to transport loads of wrapped presents to my parents on Christmas Eve without ripping or screwing up the paper.

All the adverts on TV - Especially Iceland. Peter does not go to Iceland! He may be pretty to look at but he's a terrible actor in those ads!

Christmas pudding and I'm shocked to say it as I usually love them but this year for whatever reason, mince pies make my stomach turn :(

Buying presents for my parents, my OH and his family. It's literally my worst nightmare they're impossible to buy for.

I have a semi hate of wrapping, sometimes I like it sometimes I despise it :haha:

Christmas pudding

Shopping for difficult people (they all have alcohol gifts this year!)

All the packaging. Seems like everything you get, food included, comes in several layers of plastic and cardboard. Everything you order comes in plastic, cardboard, bubblewrap and ridiculous quantities of crumpled paper or polystyrene in a massive box. And then we add giftwrap!

The shallow 'gifts for her' and 'gifts for him' sections in every shop and website. Apparently if you're a man you're either an old codger who only wants cufflinks and whisky decanters or you have the sense of humour of a six year old and want novelty loo roll and any product with words like 'fart' or 'arse' on it. And women apparently like chocolate and cosmetics, preferable decorated with/shaped like ugly pink high heeled shoes.

Christmas hampers. Not home made thoughtful ones - the ones you buy pre made. My family usually don't like a lot of the contents and I end up throwing out stale packets next November. Plus they always pack it to make it look like they're stuffed full when actually they're half empty.

Oh, and am I the only one who hates the new version of that Band Aid song? It's crap.

Humbug.

Companies taking money off us when they do not have the item in stock and then not telling us until we call up asking where it is only for a refund to take ages to happen! This happened with over half of the gifts we ordered last year and has happened once this year. :growlmad:

I also hate the crappy 'costumer service' companies have. Admittedly this is not just a problem at Christmas but it seems like you have to deal with it more this time of year.

Christmas trees when you have a cat!!!! :xmas11:

Trying to find space in the playroom to fit in new toys.

I hate rude people in the shops, everyone around here seems to lose their manners at christmas time and it turns into ww3. You bump someone accidentally (not hard) with your trolley any other time and apologise and you get a "oh don't worry it's fine" as a response but if you do that around christmas time you get a snarky look and a rude mumble!

Hate hate hate it

Ooh, all the issues getting things delivered aswell. This time of year there's always at least one parcel that will go missing, be sent the wrong item or arrive damaged! So far I've had one damaged :dohh: huge faff.

Trying to fit a tree in our tiny living room :( especially when we were meant to be in the new house by now and nobody has even given us a reason for the delay!

All that "war on Christmas" hysteria created by the media. Nothing kills the spirit of Christmas for me more than thinly veiled xenophobia.

Also, having too many family reunions. I do like seeing my close family, but cousins I only see at Christmas? That seems pointless. When I was a kid my parents always took me to family reunions with their aunts, uncles and cousins and I hated it. Is it really family when you don't actually know the people?

Shopping for difficult people who never seem to appreciate anything they are given

Taking decorations down after the holiday. Love putting them up, HATE taking them down.

Turkey. It's just a crap holiday choice. Who decided turkey was the best choice for such a special holiday anyways? At least my In-laws have steak, so one meal that day is delicious:)

Wrapping weird shaped boxes. I like gifts to all look neat and pretty, and they never do when they are random weird shapes.

Worrying about package deliveries getting stolen before I get home to grab them off the porch. This has been a big problem where I live last year and this year. I live in a nice neighborhood that has been getting hit pretty hard by criminals from nearby towns that are not so nice. It's extremely frustrating that people can be so awful to steal from others during Christmas time.

/\ /\ /\ This! All of it! You read my mind!

Had to think about this .... But..... Daughter in law cards/ mum at Xmas / nephew etc
Just don't see the point

The fact that it happens in winter. I hate winter!

Those stupid park adverts.

Buying for awkward people or worse, people you don't even like!

Turkey/Xmas pud/christmas cake yuck!

Oh for a pp I also can't stand the new band aid song....mostly because bono is still singing in it! Cant stand that man.

The amount of rubbish you end up with yet they do less bin collections

X Factor Christmas number one singles. I remember the Christmas number one being an exciting thing. Would it be Spice Girls? Would it be Michael Jackson? But now it's always X Factor, either the winner, or the contestants' charity nonsense. The only time I recall it being interesting recently was when Rage Against the Machine went to number 1.

I also HATE the increase in adverts for those awful payday loans companies. They are all such awful, unscrupulous companies anyway, but they really prey on worried people at christmas.

I hate all the travelling. None of my immediate family drive and same with OH. We live a good 2 hour drive away and it's just a pain as we want to see all our families and it feels like we're always in the car. This year we are staying at home Christmas day and Boxing Day and doing our drive the weekend after.

I also hate that I always find loads more to buy around this time of December when I've already got everything. I think I start to early but can't help myself.

I dislike shopping for adults. Why can't we all agree to shop for ourselves?

Cant stand xmas pudding and the state your nails get in after wrapping loads of pressies!

Christmas cards. I despise them. Summer already has about twelve from her friends and OH thought It'd be nice to put them on my nice spacey fireplace. Hate it, drives my anxieties about space and cleanliness wild. They've survived so far, only cause I know Summer will hit the roof when I move them.

Bah Humbug.
