Just wondering what other people do/think as me and OH can't agree!

1 - Do you put all of your presents (excluding stocking fillers) BEFORE Christmas day (so the kids see them for the days/week leading up to Christmas or on Xmas eve (after kids have gone to bed)?

2 - Who are your LO's presents from? You/OH, Santa, some from each? Growing up -everything- I got for Christmas was from 'Santa' but my partner had a tradition of only the stocking was from 'Santa' the rest was from mum and dad. (Which he feels helps explain why we get presents for/from other family members, why would we buy for them and not for our LOs.)

3 - Boxes!! I bloody HATE all the packaging on kids toys, every birthday/Xmas so far we've spent the majority of the time just trying to unravel stupid bits of plastic, wires and cardboard just so LO can play with her toys. I was thinking maybe this year I will unpackage everything (well the heavily packaged things) and wrap them like that, out of their boxes. Does this take away from the 'new' effect? Does it even matter? Thoughts?

Nope, My LO's presents are away with Santa until Christmas eve.

All presents always go to Santa, but Mummy buys them and Santa looks after them until Christmas.

Most of my LO's presents are taken out of their boxes. IMO it doesn't matter until they are older. I hate the amount of packaging things have on them now.

We open the presents in the evening/afternoon of the 24th here.
The presents are only put up under the christmas tree on the afternoon, everybody is sent away to mind their own stuff as long as that :P)

2 - Who are your LO's presents from? You/OH, Santa, some from each? When I was small it was from Santa(weihnachtsmann), after it it was from the parents and /or sister/brother etc. (it is not written on the labels though, it is just asked)

I never had so much plastic wrapped toys anyway, more, books or boxes (playmobil, lego) but it is also a part of the unpacking sensation though ^^

1) Christmas Eve when LO is in bed
2) Mummy and Daddy, but one is from Father Christmas as my LO has been a good girl all year.(lol)
3) I've wrapped them how i bought them,all in boxes,packaging etc.

1. pre-baby we always had the presents ready and waiting under the tree, now we're hiding them and will put them out when she's gone to bed - that way she gets a lovely surprise when she see's all the presents from santa etc on xmas morning :wohoo:

2. presents are from a completely mixture - she has stocking and one big gift from santa, and the rest from mummy and daddy, grandparents and family :D

3. i have been just wrapping all the toys up, complete in their original boxes etc and probably spend the rest of the year putting them together  i'll see how we go this year with this one!

1. presents from 'Mum & Dad' go under the tree as soon as they are wrapped. Presents from Santa and stockings go out on Christmas Eve.

2. Santa Sack of presents from Santa. Stocking from Santa. Couple of presents from me & OH.

3. I leave everything in boxes.

1&2) My OH's family sound like your OH's family lol, all the presents are from parents/family, its just the stocking that's from Santa in his family. I will probably put the presents that we have got him out on christmas eve, but the presents we get from other relatives will probably just go under the tree as we get them as he will know they are from relatives, not santa. I will hide his stocking presents though and I'm thinking I might keep one present back as one 'from santa'.
3) That's up to you, it would probably make it a lot easier to take the packaging out before wrapping so on christmas morning your LO can get straight to the present :D x

I wrap all the prezzies and put them under the tree beginning/mid December

Yeah the big presents under the tree are from whoever bought them but Santa comes on Christmas Eve and fills the stockings :)

I'd be worried they'd find the boxes, and they'd be sooo much harder to wrap! Also if something doesn't work it's easier to take it back if it's still boxed.

When I was a kid, the presents magically appeared in time for Xmas morning. I think it's much more exciting that way.

2 - Who are your LO's presents from? You/OH, Santa, some from each?

Ours were always from Mum&Dad. Never had anything from Santa!

I shouldn't think it would matter until they're a bit older.

xx

1, Put them out on xmas eve when santa comes!!

2, All from Santa.

3, Wrap in boxes they come in from shop, incase they need to be changed or taken back.

We usually put them all under the tree but from now on, we'll only put a few under the tree, the rest will magically appear overnight from santa LOL

2 - Who are your LO's presents from? You/OH, Santa, some from each? Growing up -everything- I got for Christmas was from 'Santa' but my partner had a tradition of only the stocking was from 'Santa' the rest was from mum and dad. Some from each :D We always got a few presents from mum and dad, and the rest from santa. They'll be labled from Santa in disguised writing when she gets older.

We'll be making toys up that need built on Xmas eve night, and putting in batteries, taking out of boxes and puttung back in the box so it's easier to wrap lol

1) all pressies are put out on Christmas eve when babies are in bed, they get to open one gift on Christmas eve which is a special one from Santa (only if they have been extra special good, which they always are :)) Even Dans is put away until Christmas eve and he doesnt believe in Santa. Its a nice surprise on Christmas day.

2) One gift from mummy and daddy, one gift from each other, gifts from aunts, uncles, granny's, grandad's ect. All the rest from Santa, we dont wrap presents from Santa so all the unwrapped gifts they know are from Sants. Dans are all wrapped this year because he asked me to :)

3) All big boxes opened and toys removed, anything that needs to be built is built on Christmas eve, this year that will be Decs Scooter, bike, piano and shopping trolly.

The ones from Santa magically appear on the couch for Christmas morning, but the rest just go under the tree whenever they're wrapped.

When I was younger all from Santa, but I was a cynical child, so for mine I'll make it mostly from Santa and a few from us :)

Yep I'd take them out, especially when they're young because they go mad if they can't get at them right away!:haha:

1. We don't put anything out until Christmas Eve after they've gone to bed...one we are worried they will open something lol but also more for the wow factor, nothing and now there is tons of gifts

2. Here Santa brings 1-2 big unwrapped gifts all set up and he fills the stocking...everything wrapped is from us, each other or other family

3. I personally find it much easier to wrap things in boxes so I wouldn't want to do that lol. But I don't think it would take away from the new factor or anything, maybe with older kids but I don't even think that would matter at all to Landon who is 6 now

Still to this day I don't see my presents from mum and dad until xmas day! they were always put out once we had gone to bed on xmas eve! so much more magical i think!!

we got one big present from santa each, plus a big sackfull of 'wee' things from santa, then a big present from mum and dad each. yep, we wer totally spoiled! still are!!

the only downside i can see to this is if you need to take something back? otherwise i think its a great idea!! our living room always ended up like a rubbish tip after we wer finished opening everything!!

Gifts from family members outside of our home, are left out when they arrive, but the rest of them get put out after my LO goes to sleep! :) I usually wrap during the day on christmas eve, so i'm not up all night!

2 - Who are your LO's presents from? You/OH, Santa, some from each? In my family we buy gifts both from santa and from us, santa wraps his gifts all in the same paper and uses a black marker to write the first letter of LO's name on the package. santa leaves one big gift, some smaller ones, and the stockings, and parents leave whatever else they bought! haha

I think that taking the time to unwrap boex and packaging is part of the excitement of it all! i wouldn't take things out of the packaging.

In my house, the gifts are not put out until Christmas Eve after children have gone to bed, so when they wake up there is a wow factor and so much excitement.

2 - Who are your LO's presents from? You/OH, Santa, some from each? Growing up, my presents have always been just from Santa. I never got them from my mom necessarily, which does seem confusing, since I get gifts from every other family member. When I have children, I will be doing things differently... Santa will bring stocking and 1 to a couple of gifts and Mom and Dad will buy the rest. I think otherwise children assume that Santa can buy anything and money doesn't matter, when really Mom and Dad work REALLY hard to buy all of these nice gifts.

When the kids are really young, I'd take everything out of boxes and what not, but as they get older... putting things together will be part of the fun of the day. I always spent all of Christmas day with my mom setting up and putting together all of my toys.
