True Blood!

i cant believe channel 4 didnt bother telling us what happened either!! true blood always seems to have a real cliffhanger at the end so it was a bit annoying

When I was reading about Quinn for the first time, I kept picturing Vin Diesl. Then I did some searching around on the internet, and I guess that's who Charlain Harris used as inspiration for the character!

I was like "THAT'S WHY!!!" ha ha ha

Ohh now you say that ..... he might not be a bad choice .. if he could be a little less wooden
Sarahkka - totally kow what you mean about the TV perhaps using black or asian actors to portray him too

Oh no! I can't stand Vin Diesel! He's an awful actor and he most definitely doesn't have the chops to keep up with the very talented cast of True Blood. I agree that he is the right type, but they better find his doppelganger that can actually act! Mean, but honest? :)

Very true .. too wooden, but close ... so close ...
Farie toddles off to think of suitable actors
Oh also I agree what you said about Bill being the perfect introduction to vampires for Sookie, oh but Eric is so much cooler! Def a case of Go Team Viking!!
See what you mean about the TV series casting and that Bill is being kept more central ... ummmm me and the TV series might have a fallling out if they portray Eric as a baddie :growlmad: not sure where theya re going with the Queen/Eric/Lafayette selling V thing

Ohh and is it me or are the sex scenes in the book getting raunchier? I was wondering about the chemistry thing too, particularly as she and Moyer are engaged.
Although she does have a history of dating her co-stars, if she and Skarsgard have similar chemistry it might cause a few issues

Hummm Claudine ... tall beautiful and not to skinny, may be a unknown? What about Claude tho? They will have to be very similar but equally attractive ... ohh he is going to be eye candy!

The V, I spotted that too, seems werid although with the Amy storyline they did mention about V clotting and causing issues (hence the rice paper) - it was an aside but it was mentioned that if not 'fresh' more than a 'drop' caused problems, they might be how they pass off the fact Sookie gets away with chugging down on it in larger quantities ... straight from the source so to speak.

I agree about each medium standing up in its own right, and the show is so well cast and acted ... although if they make Eric a baddie :growlmad::growlmad::growlmad:
For season 3 I think they'll use Lorena as the plot line for Bills kidnap, it was set up quite well at the end of season 2.
Any ideas about the kidnap thing? Without the database I'm not sure
And the introduction of the Faeries, how are they going to work it in without seeming sudden?

I think they may run a couple of the books together, 5 and 6 could be merged quite nicely.

You lot with all the spoilers!!!!!

I am not reading!!! I will be catching up on Ep 4 today :D

Book spoilers:

For some reason, I keep picturing Claudine as the same woman who played Marianne in the series. Not sure why either! Also, I was totally confused in the books when they introduced Claude. It was like I had missed something and I actually went back and re-read part of the previous book to make sure I hadn't missed anything!

So now I've read 8 out of the 9 books. I'm still really rooting for Sookie to end up with Eric. I wasn't impressed with Quinn's character, how there was always "something" that prevented them from hanging out.

Book 9 is on it's way to me as I type this (being shipped) so I'm looking forward to reading that one too. I don't want Bill and Sookie to end up together... that was kinda crappy about the Queen placing him there for her... although it does answer my question about him randomly going into her bar.

I wonder if (for the series) the Queen selling blood will end up getting her staked, and that will be the precursor to the King of Nevada taking over?

Yay! Another one for Team Viking! :)
I had that same thing with Claudine/Maryanne, Tyff.
And I think that's a very plausible prediction for the fate of the Queen. I am sort of making my guesses based on the actors being cast for each role. I don't think you'd get rid of Evan Rachel Wood in just one season. But she is a busy film actress, so maybe they will combine a few books and get her plotline done in one?
I think Charlaine Harris is going to kill Bill off and that it will be some sort of beautiful redemptive gesture, some glorious sacrifice that saves Sookie's life. then she can shed a few tears and go spend time with Eric.
The big flaw in the romance side of all of this is that Sookie cannot have a family with a vampire. I think she's going to have a fling with a fairy and get knocked up that way. there have been way too many hints about how much she would like a baby.
Those are some of my predictions.

You guys and your bloomin' spoilers! I have just started reading the first book. I'm mostly reading it on the way to and from work which has only been two days so far so I'm not far in. I don't want to ruin the series as I started watching that first but I guess it'll overtake eventually. I'm quite liking it. So far it makes me feel a lot like I felt reading Twilight only she is a much better writer than Stephanie Meyer so there is more meat to it and it's not annoying.

Exactly!
It's not lit and it's not pretending to be, but she's a good storyteller and she has chosen a really fun voice to tell the story.
Glad you are enjoying it!:)

Okay! So I've finished Book 9

So I'm freaking happy that Eric finally remembered his time with Sookie! I definitely think there's going to be some sort of wedding, she's always talking about how no one has asked her to marry them yet. I'm curious as to what the revelation of the shapeshifters is going to cause, I don't think that's over yet.

I also don't think that the whole thing with Quinn is over yet, although I'd like it to be. I'm hoping that the series picks up on the friendship between Pam and Sookie. I like how they're kinda close and whatnot. Alot moreso in the books than in the series as it stands.

I was also confused a bit with Hadley's death. The way it was written (on how Sookie had been contacted and watched her killer die) made it seem like it had been already told in the books. I'm also sad that Sophie-Anne is dead. I liked her character.

LOVE IT!! I've seen all the episodes in all the seasons and can't wait for the next season to start.

Great show, great acting, great writing.

The books are going on my Christmas list! Having to wait a bloody week for my Trueblood fix is driving me crazy! Also im sooooo far behind the last episode on channel 4 was a good cliff hanger as grandma is dead!!!

True blood tonight

I too have all the Sookie Stackhouse books on my Xmas wish list :D

More book spoilers! :)
Has anyone else noticed that there are a few editorial errors in the books?
The biggest one for me was between Book 4 and Book 5.
In #4, Debbie Pelt is a were lynx, in #5, she is a were fox. How could an editor not notice that?
And there have been a few others.
Shirley "Catfish" Hennessey suddenly becomes Catfish Hawkins in one scene, for example.
I can't help noticing this stuff because I am incredibly anal about details like that! :) But still! come on! That first one is a glaring error. How did no one pick that up before the book went to print?
Okay, now that I have revealed the extent of my dorkiness, I will stop ranting!

Question - Is Sam the killer? Is his name Sam? The bar guy?

I LOVE True Blood! Started watching the first series and just started reading the first book. I don't think the book is well written but it's readable! Bill Compton is HOT in the tv series. I think it is Sam that is killing everyone?

Yeah I thought that when he snuck into Dawn's house but wasn't sure if I'd got the wrong end of the stick.

I'm reading mine so slowly, a collective 1 hour a week on the train! lol Today I was sat next to a guy reading a paper on the glycolitic something or other pathway in yeast so I felt ashamed of my chick lit and obliged to pull my Natural Environment Research Council bookmark out in a prominent way to show I have brain too!

I'm just catching up to the current TV episode now.

Sarah

Yeah I noticed that too. Might have been pressure on everyone to get the book out?
