Trying to conceive #1 Buddies!

GL Bee! I really hope this IUI works for you. :flow: :flow:

Abe, Only a weekend away! Eeee! So excited to hear how it goes. I hope all is working itself out to give you the best start - that would be convenient to have AF due the day of the appt, so yeah all your testing and stuff they'll do will be in the same month. I'm so beyond excited to see what's to come in your journey.

Congrats to the BFPs! And happy to hear current pregnancies are going smoothly.
AFM, I've just been keeping to my journal lately and not on the boards so much. Today is my last night of Clomid, then I go for my follicle scan/hopeful trigger shot on Wednesday morning. FX this round is it!

Ladies? +/- 11DPO. Taken before bed.im going to take another in the morning... But do you guys see it too??

So, started bleeding.... I think we're chalking it up to a cp. There definitely was a pink line this morning.

Ah well, at least we know now we CAN get our BFP, and we still have our appointment on Tuesday. Just sucks.

Oh no! I was just getting excited reading your first post abe! I definitely do see it. It looks pretty dried though. The IC's I used actually looked way lighter after it dried than when it was fresh so that actually looks like a really good line!

There was a very faint pink line on the FRER I took the morning after I took that one, and we even asked a pharmacist what she thought and she definitely saw both lines. At least we have our appointment tomorrow with the fertility clinic.

Hi everyone, hopefully I could get some insight here.

I am currently 15 DPO. CD 31. Sore breasts, for the first time since August-and I also had a significant dip for BBT on DPO 8.

Before a few hours ago I was convinced I was pregnant, and no, I am not someone who thinks that every month.

My cycle ranges (within past year) from 23-31 days...but on most months I'm about 28 days. The last time I had a 31 day cycle was in August.

My doctor called me this morning with the results from my DH analysis and my progesterone test. It was all within normal range and my test wasn't as high as she wanted it to be but still confirmed an ovulation. I told her I thought I could be pregnant..

An hour later I spotted. Light brown, and just a bit here and there since then. So I've been having this light spotting for about 4 hours. Most of the time there is nothing there.

Devestated, I ran out and got a FRER pregnancy test. I chugged a lot of water took it. Negative.

I know it was diluted...but I'm wondering if it was a false negative because of that and if I'm just having early pregnancy spotting, which from what I read is completely normal. It certainly does not seem like a period.

I guess I'm holding on to any hope... Please help :/

Hey KBP,

You wouldn't get a positive pregnancy test on 8 DPO, and especially not after spotting (especially if it's implantation bleeding). HCG takes a while to build up in the system, and if it is implantation bleeding that would mean you would need to wait 2-3 days before anything would show.

Hi Abe-I was 8dpo when I had the dip. Today, I am 15 dpo.

It was AF.

HSG scheduled for next Friday-and going to try to move up my fertility specialist appointment. This cycle was by far the most devestating. I am unraveling, nearly impossible to keep holding it together.

Abe-is your appointment today? Let us know how it goes.

The appointment went great! I'm feeling quite comfortable with going here. The nurses at the clinic were very friendly, and our doctor was very sympathetic to our recent loss. After reviewing our information she was actually quite optimistic that IVF/ICSI would work for us, and that if we would refer to try a cheaper alternative first (being IUI) that she felt that may work as well. She explained that the success rate for IUI was around 13%, versus IVF at 60% for other couples our age. The numbers aren’t optimal, and right now we are trying to decide whether to try a round of IUI before IVF, or to just jump straight to IVF. It’s a double edged sword, this little decision of ours. If we did the IUI and it was successful, we would have only paid about $400 instead of $12,000. However, if we did IUI and it didn’t work, that would be another $400 to add to our expenses. It’s a decision we don’t want to make lightly, as coming up with half of the $12,000 will be difficult, and may result in us using most of our line of credit with hardly any means to pay it back.

The doctor left us with the decision, saying we should sign up for the IVF info session just in case, because those info session nights go like wildfire. She is also sending us for testing as well. I completed my Day 3 FSH and STD screening this morning. Hubby will probably come with me on CD 28 when I have to do my progesterone bloodwork to do his STD screening, and I have an antral follicle count and pelvic ultrasound booked for CD 24. The only test we weren’t able to book this month was my HSG. I will have to call them on CD1 to book that next cycle. We do also need to book hubby’s SA. Once we finish all of the testing we will go in for a follow-up appointment, scheduled for July 8, to review the information and decide our best course of action.

KBP: Sorry about AF, if you are getting HSG then hopefully you'll have some answers soon. Hang in there, I know sometimes it seems like the ups and downs are really unbearable but there's an end to it!! Just have to keep moving forward towards it.

abe: Yeah the ivf vs iui question is kind of tough. Even though iui is only 13% chance, 400 is far far less than 12K. I wish fertility wouldn't come down to almost a purchasing decision. But yea you guys will make the best decision for you, I'm sure of it.

Just had my scan! Looks like I'm team :blue:! Also doc said all measurements looked normal which is the most important part!

Abe-Glad to hear your appointment went well. I bet the IVF session will provide you with a lot more information and maybe it will help you reach your decision easier, although that is a tough one. I am glad we are living in a time where these procedures are available to us, although the cost of it really does seem unfair.

Is this your first time doing all of those tests? With the exception of an HGS (which I'll have next Friday)...me and my husband have had all the work ups-progesterone test 2x, hormone levels, and SA. All are clear. I have an appointment with specialist at the end of the month and I am wondering if I'm going to have to do the tests all over again. I hope not.

Psyhochick-what was your scan for? HSG? And what does "team (pic of stork) mean? I thought I knew all the lingo but I guess not!

So sorry, I just looked back! I see that you are expecting, must have been an ultrasound! Congratulations to you, glad it went well!

Yay, Psycho! I guess now you guys can decide on names :) I think we're leaning more to IVF just because of the chances, and if IVF fails we will have hopefully a couple of FET rounds to try after it. I personally wouldn't mind doing one round of IUI, but DH doesn't want to spend the extra money if it does fail.

KBP: haha sorry for the confusion! Yes I was on this thread for a long time and finally have my bean :) Don't mean to crash this thread, but I'm definitely still interested in keeping touch with everyone here and seeing everyone get the BFP. :dust:

abe: ah yeah that's true, I forget that you could also do FET after one retrieval. That would definitely get more bang for your buck.
And yes, we've been talking names since yesterday. But it's surprising how small the set is after you've removed names associated with popular shows/movies/books, your friends/family names, and then far fetched names. Like the name Casper, DH insists that it reminds him too much of the friendly ghost. Lol

Hi guys, I just read this article that I thought was super interesting: https://www.forbes.com/sites/quora/2016/05/06/how-and-why-did-women-evolve-periods/#7522d8b83ca0

short version is basically that human placenta is much more invasive than that of most mammals, when a woman gets pregnant, the placenta integrates into the mother's body in a much more invasive manner. Because of this, the endometrium tissue in our uterus is actually the LEAST hospitable place to implant an embryo. The tissue is not designed to welcome embryo, on the contrary, it's designed as a testing ground for them. This is our way of ensuring that such an invasive pregnancy is reserved for only the strongest and best embryos. I thought this was very eye opening in why there are so many chemicals and why it takes us so long to fall pregnant.

It also explains why we have much more painful and bigger menstrual bleeding than other mammals =\ Human women really got the shorter end of the stick.

Psycho: Casper is a very cute name. At least the ghost was friendly :) That sounds like a very interesting article. I'm going to have to take a peak sometime soon.
