I'm sorry you're having this trouble. I definitely think the 6-12 months of TTC (trying to conceive) is the most difficult. You're aware that this is taking longer than it should be but not usually long enough for a doctor to consider it to be a problem.
They say it takes healthy couples up to 12 months, but 80% have conceived by 6 months and 90% by the 12 month mark. So it feels like there is little hope but not much you can do.
I'll let you know the things I've tried so far, obviously they haven't worked for me because I'm not pregnant. I currently take Vitamin D (low vitamin D can cause infertility), co-q10 (improves egg quality) and a preconception multivitamin. I am also prescribed Metformin to help with PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome) and this cycle I'll start Clomid. Previously I've tried evening primrose oil, taken from CD (cycle day) 1 until O (ovulation) which improves the quantity of CM (cervical mucus). I've also tried pineapple core from 1-5 DPO (days past ovulation). Other things you might hear about is Maca Root (meant to be great for fertility but I couldn't take it), vitex (only take if your cycles are irregular) and Inositol (similar to Metformin but can help with conception)
We use pre-seed or conceive plus lube.
No smoking and limiting alcohol for both of us. We also try and eat a healthy diet.
DH takes a preconception multivitamin. They take 3 months to work which sucks. He doesn't have a hot bath either.
Try and BD/DTD (baby dance/do the dance/have sex) either EOD (every other day) or day especially around your fertile window.
If you haven't already, you might like to visit the library and get some books out on conceiving. Taking Charge Of Your Fertility is really good for learning about tracking your cycles.
I went and saw my GP with some concerns about how long it was taking at about the 6 month mark. Some of my hormone levels were out of the normal range and probably the reason it's taking so long. We got referred to a fertility specialist at 10 months. If you're feeling particularly impatient and you can get away with it, then you could lie and say it's been 12 months.
Also, there's a TTC 1# forum if you want to chat to others who are trying for their first.
