TV

def a terrible mum now after reading the new posts:

my son is 13, has a lcd tv in his room (small one, 28inch)he bought himself out of his birthday money), he has sky, xbox 360, dvd player (never used), mobile phone (pays for his own credit out of his pocket money) and a laptop.

Doing things differently to some doesn't make you a bad mum at all. I'm well jel of his gadgets though lol xx

Evan is eating his toast and watching Something Special on Cbeebies. I love this program as Justin presents it using Makaton, I think it is fab :) We are going to watch Mr Blooms Nursery at 10.15, but that's more for me then Evan

i dont see a problem with all his gadgets tbh. any money he gets he saves for things he wants (he has 180euro up in his room, i have 10euro lol). he doesnt eat chocolate or sweets, he doesnt eat junk food hence why he has so much money!!

im pretty jealous of all his gadgets too, he has a better laptop and phone then me AND he wont let me use them or swop

No I don't think it's a problem to be honest when they're older. My only issue is I see kids at work all the time roll in knackered coz they've been on the internet all night...bit like me actually. IRONY MUCH?! :dohh:

i thought kyle was using his laptop alot a few weeks back, anytime i passed his room his head was stuck into it. turned out his science teacher had put up their homework online, and a few other teachers started doing the same

i guess with technology advancing the way it is - schools are taking the digital route which i guess is a good thing as well as a bad thing

Yeh that's true actually - schools are all getting online learning platforms. I'm bloody useless though - can't figure out how to put stuff on it or get any of the kids' work off. They always have to show me

haha i'm watching it now  he reminds me of someone!

some secondary school here is bringing in i-pads for 1st yrs this september. i think its a good thing as my sons school bag is ridiculously heavy. his books cost me (actually the mil) 500euro last sept!! and then the publishers keep updating them every year so u cant pass them on. he has already told me his history book is out of date and geography one is too, 2 new books to get at a cost of 45 euro each.

ok i have gone off topic completely sorry OP

Mia-Ellen has tv and sky in her room (but with parental controls). Our bedroom is nest to her so can hear if she has the tv on when she isn't supposed to, if she does that the sky card & tv remote control gets taken away.
Most of their homework has to be submitted online using something called Stars. They can email each other on it to. That's schools encouraging 'communication' long gone are the days when you talked to your teacher!!

Trust me, she's got nothing to worry about! I think that was my one and only experience of Mr Bloom and his veg. He looks about 12! KittyVentura what do you see in him? Admittedly his 'veg' was on the large side. He must use some strong fertiliser.

Mr Bloom is a tool and he isnt in the least 'a bit of alright'...

I'm not gonna say anything...
