hi all

i've been type 1 diabetic for over 25 years now, ttc #3 but its taking longer then i had hoped, any diabetics out there, i would love to be ttc buddies so we can share the ups and downs of blood testing and ttc:hugs:

Hi Hun,

Im type 2 trying to concieve :) would love to keep in cotact to see how your doing :) xx

hi tink

would love to keep in touch

we've been trying since may 2010, but took a couple of months before af arrived proper since coming off bc, i've been on the folic acid 5mg for a year now as well, have your docs got you on anything different or is it the same as us type 1's, good sugar control and extra folic acid x

:flower: hi, I am a type 1 diabetic, been trying to concieve for a year now with no joy. On folic acid 5mg. Just had some bloods done and partner had semen analysis, just awaiting results for both. My hba1c is currently 7.8. Ive been on the insulin pump for over 12 months.

hi kinks

i've just had my cd3 bloods done as well, they came back normal, trying to pin down ov so i can get cd21 done at sometime and get hubby to do his sa, my hba1c was 7 my docs want it below 7 so they cant grumble about that too much, im just on daily injections

im using the cbfm as well, are you guys trying anything else, have the docs said to try anything else or are you waiting for blood results and see what happens

its really frustrating i was hoping it would be a couple of months like my last one, im just about pulling my hair out

are you in uk too

yeah im in uk. Dont really know what the plans are, said something bout getting our results back and then referring to gynea obstetrician (dont think thats spelt correctly) and then something about clomid and hsg test to see if my ovaries are ok. Im currently bit nervous as my last 2 cycles were 28 days and now this one is currently 34 days!!!! I have gone as long as 37 days though in the past.
I was on contraceptive pill for 14 years so has took a while for cycles to regulate.
Did you have much trouble controlling your blood sugars whilst pregnant??

i was wondering if we would be allowed clomid, i think that moght be the route we're headed too, it wasn't too bad controlling sugar while pregnant, i was in for check ups every month and a scan every month as well, youngest was born by c section at 38 weeks 8lb 11 so i think that was fairly normal, was in hosp for 5 days till he got his blood sugar under control after having my higher sugar levels to deal with, but he's perfect

have you tested yet or what is the normal range for you, i've been anything from 26 - 36 days then last two have been 45 and 49, think hat was the soy i took so hope to have it back to normal now

im cd9 just now and a low on my cbfm

hi tink

yea go to doc and ask if you need the extra folic acid, i was told to be on it for about 3 months before starting to try, they're always telling us to loose weight which i know is good for us but there are plenty out there that conceive and are larger, good that blood pressure and sugar levels are ok, what cd are you on?

hi kinks

are you testing, or any sign of the witch yet?

i've had a rough few days, youngest has chicken pox and oldest has sinusitis, im surprised that being a bloke he actually made it to toilet to be sick, must be first bloke in history:thumbup:

im cd 10 here still a low on my monitor, got my diabetic check up on 25th of feb so might speak to nusre and ask if there is anything else to get checked

hi girls

back from my diabetic check up at hospital, 2 1/2 hours of my morning spent there, blood was 7.2% so not as good as last time, bp 115/72, so good, weight 66.5 kg, not to good, up 1kg from last august

spoke to the diabetic nurse and asked her if there was anything else i need to do or check, she said my sugars are ok, my blood from cd3 were all within normal range so the only thing left would be to check progesterone?? on cd21 to confirm ovulation, well couldn't pin that don last month so we'll see this month, and the only other thing she could suggest was to RELAX, easier said then done

How is everyone else doing

hi girls hope you're still out there

just got :bfp::cloud9:i cant beleive it, keep checking the clearblue digi test to see if its changed its mind but it still says pregnant 2-3 weeks omg we are soo happy

now know why my sugars were a bit mental for past three days:wacko:

Oh wow congratulations!!!!

I've just spotted this thread and glad to hear there are other diabetics on here. I am type 2.... I was on metformin and glyclazide but changed to insulin when started TTC.

My last Hba1c was 7.1 so not too bad, just trying to get it below 7 now.

Unfortunately I had a chemical pregnancy last week so just waiting to try again.

Wishing you a happy and healthy 9 months... I look forward to hearing how you're getting on xx

Hi, I was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes when I was 6 months pregnant with my DD..at first they were saying GD..but turns out..they were wrong. I have had Diabetes for a little over 2 years now and take 4 needles a day. I recently received my insulin pump..after a lot of battling with my insurance company over coverage, but that is a whole other story!! I am waiting for my diabetic nurse to get back to me so I can get "hooked up" to my pump. I had a crazy pregnancy with DD and hoping the next one will be less stressful. We have been ttc for a while now but haven't been successful..just as well though because my sugars were all over the place for a while. I am at a healthy weight, taking vits, and my A1C was 8.6 last time..doc would like to have it between 7-8. I'm thrilled this thread has started and look forward to getting to know you guys.:hugs:

gozo06..congrats on your pregnancy..hope you have a happy and healthy 9 months

kinks- how do you like the pump?..I'm excited but nervous to get mine going!

thanks guys,

hope you're all well, my a1c was 7.2 last month but past three days i have'nt been able to keep any day time blood tests below 9, now know why:happydance:

ladybird - sorry about your chemical last month:hugs: hope you get back to trying soon

dee - hope all goes well with pump, let us know how it goes, i dont have any experience withone so it'll be interesting

got to phone docs tomorrow and get booked in, hope to get seen quite soon and get first scan in as well, diabetic nurse said it should be ok cause my a1c bloods have been 6.9, 7.0 and 7.2 so got to try and get them down again but they've been good for the critical forming stage

hope everyone keeps in touch, i'll let you know how i go

Excellent news hun... with those levels you should be fine.

I had a routine appt with the diabetic nurse today and found out my latest Hba1c (taken last week when I had my chem preg) was 6.5!

More than happy with that and can't wait to try again... going to 'get straight back on the horse' as they say O:)

I look forward to hearing your updates hun! xxx

that was a good result ladybird:thumbup:, good luck with ttc again, i used the clear blue fertility monitor this time cause it seemed to be taking ages this time, over 7 months this time, fx'd for you hope it happens soon

im an terrible worrier and cant wait for first scan to make sure everything ok, dont really trust anything till then

hey guys,
sorry its been a wee while since i was on here, Just thought i would check in and noticed the brill news, CONGRATULATIONS GOZO, bet your well excited. Hows things going?. Im currently on cd27 and for the first time in a while this month i noticed ewcm and dtd a few times round that time. Im getting a few twinges, have been doin temps and they have been 36.9. My blood sugars have been high the last few days and the other night it was reading as 31 mmols!!! oh my lol. So im just cruising along again waiting for witch or not. Mind you my blood sugars usually rise just before im due on.
My 21 day progesterone came back LOW so waiting for appointment with specialist. My last cycle was 3 days though so i reckon i shud have had some more bloods done at 28 days because I reckon I ovulate around day 17 - 19. OH sperm assessment came back fine Thank god as he is 51 this year and ill be 31!!
Dee, since being on the pump my blood sugars have been easier to control and prior to going on the pump my hba1c was never less than 9% now its 7.8% but i know I can improve on this with a little tweaking of the pump. It takes a lot of hard work but worth it and sooo much better than injecting 4 times a day.
keep me updated and ill try to check in more often. xx

I meant my last cycle was 35 days lol not 3. My five button not working to its full potential!!

Hi girls..hope everyone is doing well. I have been told the process and teaching for using my pump is going to start on Thursday..she said she would like to do 4 sessions, 3 hours each of training. That seems pretty intense. I'm really scared but I have heard from soooo many people how much it has changed their lives. My insurance covered my pump but not a Continuous Glucose Monitoring System, which would have been ideal.
Kinks- Do you have the CGMS or do you do finger pricks...if you do finger pricks..how often are you testing. Same as when you were on needles or more. A guy I know says he tests 14 times a day!!!! He is an extremely active guy but...Is that normal?

hi dee,
when i first started on the pump i was testing about 6 times per day purely out of interest. I now test before each meal, breakfast, lunch, dinner and then before bed. Sometimes I test 2 hours after eating to see if i had calculated correctly with my carb count.
I had the cgm once and nearly threw the damn thing out the window, It was telling my machine to turn off cus i was hypo and then wen i did finger prick it was 15mmols!!! So now i just stick to finger pricking.
I am currently on cd 32 and still no AF. Not really getting any signs either. I have been getting bad cramping, few blood spots on wiping (TMI) and i did a clearblue plus test on friday and me and other half thought we cud see a line but werent sure. Anyhow bout an hour later had a definate line but put this down to evap line. I have had a snuffly cold for 2 weeks now and my boobs are really itching!! but i really dont want to get my hopes up as i did before and felt like crap wen AF did show.
Anyhow good luck with the pump. Once you get used to it you will love it.
