even the SMA site I posted there with bf info has wrong info about diets on it. It mentioned a few times actually. Your diet does not effect your milk supply so you dont need to eat this and that justcarry on like you where.

I have ff and breastfed. I'm 100% for choice, informed choice but I'm also passionate about health promotion and adequate and correct information to give mothers and babies the best possible start.
That's why agressive formula advertising is banned in this country and that's why underhand formula advertising and pseudo advice lines get my goat. The advert in the OP is pretty mild compared to some which have come before, which crop up from time to time and in other countries which are far worse. I can't speak for anyone elses motives for disagreeing with it but those are mine.

Okay, let me put it this way:

Why is an infant formula company offering support and advice to first-time expectant mums?

If you have decided to ff then you can use the support line for asking questions about formula feeding if thats what you want to do. Whats wrong with that?

*deep breath*

It is not a FF advice line. It is an advice line for pregnant women run by a formula company.

I don't see anything wrong with the add.. and I am in with that hat eating business.
I did not choose to FF but had to due to circumstances. I say, its like a massive nanny state where you are told what you can or cannot do. Seriously, its my child and I know what suits US best.

i agree and i must say id prefer to get advice from a site that atualy conciderd ff, when i spoke to my hv about it it was bf or nothing and it made me feel awfull.

Exactly! There are FF'ers in the world, and yeah - they need support too! Without guilt!

Honestly what do people want! A blanket ban over ANY mention of formula?!

Thank you!! Why should FFing be so "taboo?" Why should people who choose to FF have to ring numbers to ask for advice under the cover of night!? They have every right to information as BFers do. Just because it's not the 'ideal' way to feed your child doesn't mean you don't deserve advice.

So what if its a formula company?!?!?!?!?!?!? I dont get it? Maybe because I see the sides to both choices, I dunno

no one said that? where are you getting that from? no one has said anything about a mum formula feeding having to hide. That line is for you no one is debating that but its on a breastfeeding info page to help breastfeeders!

I give up with these ff rows, always someone taking things in wrong and creating rows, no one has said anything wrong yet your off on one crusading about your choice.

They give out wrong info!!!! thats all, it discourages breastfeeding mums. Nothing to do with formula feeding mums.

I don't see how they give out wrong information...? What is it exactly that they say that makes mum's decide to formula feed?

Yes it may not be a formula feeding advice line but pregnant women who are thinking about ff'ing may fone the line to get advice on ff. They would have knowledge on that being a formula feeding company.

Peeps, some of you are missing the point.

For the last time, I am not against FF, I am not against legal formula advertising, I am not against formula advice services.

My issue is with formula advertising masquerading as a pregnancy helpline.

wrong info is what leads mums to give up sooner, check out the link I posted twice a few pages back.

 I must say that this thread has made my morning so funny

Regarding diets?
Totally genuine question - does what you eat have an effect on your milk and its supply?

That part about going to work is out of order, I agree, could be worded in a different way
