Upset and annoyed with care ...

I think they are ok so far they were just under 3lb approx last scan which was 2 weeks ago nearly. I have a scan on thursday so hopefully that should tell whether they are affected or not it was around 32 weeks I ballooned with ds.

How are you getting on with your scans?

my next scan is 33 weeks, ive not pushed for anything (yet) but i know i dont need more scans, so not worried. Babies seem good in my last scan at 28 weeks, my small twin has caught up with his brother, so apart from my presenting twin being breach it all looks good.

i balloned with my DS at 35/36 weeks, although i seem massively bigger this week so maybe thats why i have no energy.

what symptoms did you have? does everyone get tested? ive not even had 28 week blood done! :growlmad:

Where i live (London) every twin pregnancy is offered the GTT at 28 weeks. I would definitely call up and ask about it!

hmmmm ... thing is i dont even know who i am supposed to call? My MW just says im not her responsibility as im consultant led care, and i have no numbers for the hospital, i havnt even been given L&D. I know i can call the hospital exchanged if needed but with my son i had all those numbers (diffrent trust), grrrr.

I agree, it's annoying. The midwife at my gp won't touch me with a bargepole because I'm consultant led and I didnt have any numbers either. Unless they're in the folder they give you at the booking in appointment? I just googled 'antenatal clinic at XX hospital' and the numbers came up. I eventually got through to the right department and then asked them for their direct number for future reference. Hope you manage to get hold of someone!!

yep me too - no idea who to call. i am going to ask tomorrow at my 28 week consultant appointment.

I didnt even have my 28 week bloods done as the clinic didnt do them on a friday. so was o wait until my next appt (also a friday so cant see how that would be helpful, plus is at 33 weeks) or get them done myself. which i intend to, but my doctors have a huge list so cant get them done there, so need to wait until OH is off wednesday so he can have my son and ill go to the hospital! grrr ... ill be 30 weeks!

Ask your gp surgery that's where I had mine done and they didn't ask for anything like a referral.

let me know if they do GD bloods at your appt.

hi

i did get my 28 week bloods done today.

i am due back in 4 weeks but they have asked that i see my midfife in 2 weeks because my blood pressure was a bit high. x

I've just had my 28 week appointment and she didn't take any blood. Just blood pressure/wee check/heartbeats/fetal movements. She did however say they should take it at my GTT appointment on Thursday. I wonder if it depends on your hospital's protocol about whether you get the GTT done?

probably does. the bloods are to check for blood sugar etc so i will only have GTT if that shows something. i suppose that might be why you didn't get them if you are having the test anyway?

:( So sorry that you aren't getting the answers you want (and deserve!). I would be upset as well. 33 weeks is a long time to wait to get answers, especially when you consider most twin pregnancies don't go to 40 weeks from what I've read!

In terms of the gtt test, my midwife told me the only reason you'd get tested was if you had a tendency to get it - they decide this by if a close relative has diabetes or if your booking in bmi was high -if you don't have either of these they won't test you. X

That was my criteria previous bigger baby and mother having diabetes. If there was an issue they should be picking it up in your urine tests by now really-mine comes up 90% of the time as glucose positive.

Still I hope you get the care you deserve hunni!

thanks, i still havent done much about it, i guess ill just wait to my 33 week appt and say how terrible it is then. i need to work on being assertive by then lol. any tips?

Urggh went to diabetes clinic had two obstetricians who couldn't feel one end of either baby from the other and didn't appear to have much knowledge of twins, not what I wanted to hear! I'm now injecting insulin so hopefully they'll take good care of my lo's!

eck, poor thing, hopfully will keep your blood suger in check though.

will you get even more scans now to check their size?

I hope so although they didn't manage to book the scan yesterday but now I'm going I should be able to make sure my bookings are done properly! I will be in and out fortnightly as long as the babies hang on. Which atm I feel they would be better out than in but I think I'm having a negative day!

Oh hun, dont think like that, your doing an amazing job!

I keep saying to my OH I dont know how long they will stay in, the amount of BHs Im getting, cervix pain, discharge etc, eck! Im sure its normal but I keep thinking surley this wont go on for weeks, this must mean my body is preparing? who knows, i hope thay stay until at least 34 weeks.

Your doing amazing and they will be fine, i felt mega guilty after my surgery and all the drugs i had to have, but im sure they will be fine and yours will be too x
