Just been off the phone to my Fertility Clinic enquiring when my next appointment is likely to be.

I waited 4 and a half months for my first appointment, which was in November at which I only had blood tests. Hubby scheduled S.A for 6 weeks later (closest slot he could get).

At our first appointment we were told that our review appointment would take place 6 weeks after hubby's S.A, which would be around the start of February.
I have just been told by the Clinic that the waiting list is now 6 MONTHS for a review appointment - JUNE!!!!!!!!! WTF???????????

How can this change so much in a matter of weeks?? Does this sound right to you??

Im so angry I can't even speak!!!

Hiya

I am pissed off with the Royal right now too. It is disgraceful how long you have to wait for appointments. Have you considered going for your review appointment privately? We did this. It cost us £120 but got us 6 months further up the waiting list. It might depend who your consultant is for whether they do private work, but if you want me to get you the number i can do that.

The other thing is that the assembly have given extra funding to reduce NHS waiting lists, that has to be spent by the beginning of April. They're probably focussing all their attentions on doing the treatments and not adding more people to the waiting lists - which is stupid as they're just manipulating the figures. I know it's not cheap, but have you thought of going private?

xx

dare i say im very lucky i got in at belfast city.. i was seen in a matter of weeks and managed to get all my referals in asap.. cantu ask for a transfer 2 a diff hospital...
iv managed 3 hospitals in 6 months...

The royal is the only hospital in NI that carries out IVF procedures. Only other option unfortunately is private. Plus to make matters worse, we only get one NHS treatment...

Sorry its so shit. I hate waiting lists. They make me nervous. At my last appointment I was told that the IVF waiting list had been cut from four YEARS to three to four months and that's how long it would take us to get to the front of the queue. That was four months ago. I am now worried that I will go next week and be told its back up to four years...

I'm so sorry for the shitty wait Mrs R.

It took us just under a month to get our referral confirmation letter and our appt was scheduled for 3 months after that - i said i was willing to take a cancellation so we only ended up waiting a month.

After that appt the consultant appt was followed up 2 months afterwards when all our tests should have been completed by - they have been.

I guess it varies from primary care trust?xx

I was just told I have a 4 month wait for a lap and dye....Health care sucks, and I'm a private patient, unfortunately it has to be done in a public hospital...

It seems all we do is wait during this journey...
Wait for O, then wait for AF....

I'm just so confused as to how the waiting list jumped from 6 weeks to 6 months. I'll be 90 at this rate before I get pg!!

Maz, hubby and I have just been talking about going private for the review appointment as I thought this is what u had done. My only concern is that the consultant has very little to review - only blood results and S.A results. And they're not even CD3 or CD21 blood results as these don't work for me coz Im so irregular.

If u could PM me the private number Maz I'd really appreciate it - Im under Prof. McClure if u have it x

Hi girls

im a new member here!!! Was just trying to find anything on internet to speed up my process with ivf at the royal wen i stumbbled upon this!!

Me and my partner have been trying for 3 years now and last november we found out that my fallopian tubes where damaged and that the chances of us conceiving naturally are vitually none. So we were referred to royal in april to ivf clinic. I would have to agree with everything you all say abot royal ivf clinic, do they not realise how hard it must be for us to walk past all these expecting mothers when its what we want most want in the world!!! It took almost four months to us to get our 1st app and wen we did go wasn't anything big just told us that they would need a SA from my partner, which wasnt gona be until Sep and they would need another blood sample from me, even though they had been forwarded all my details from Ulster Hospital, then we would be put on review waiting list for our nxt app which would take 6-12wks approx.

I recently rang royal last wk to enquire if we had been added to waiting list for our review app now that they had my partner SA.I was then told we have been added to review waiting list but we would be waiting 9 to 10 months for our review app!!!! I was totally gobsmacked to say the least and have been very depressed that was until 2day.

From reading wat you girls have been saying to eachother me and my partner have decided to go private for our next review app. Will keep everyone updated xxx

Oh my, this is an old post!

Can't believe it's now 9-10 months for a review... actually I can. I wouldn' expect any more from the Royal!!

A private review is definitely the way to go Dee. If u need any help finding out where ur consultant does private appointments, just ask. Somebody else on here is probably under them and may be able to help. Best of luck x
