I have a DS of nearly 5 months and am looking to commence weaning at 6 months.

At the moment, I have been wracking my brains to try and come up with a routine which will work for us.

My DS is very alert for the few hours he is awake but it is extremely hard to try and keep him awake for more than an hour after waking him up. I have been struggling to keep him awake for at least 2 hours and he does start to get upset that I am trying to keep him up for longer (is this normal?) The routine at the moment is:

06.30am 7oz milk and then will go back to sleep
10.00am I wake DS up
10.30am 7oz milk
12.00 Back to sleep
14.30 Wake DS up and 7oz milk
16.30 Back to sleep
18.00 Wake up and give bath
18.30 7oz milk
20.00 Back to sleep
21.00 DS wakes up himself (have tried to cut out the 16.30 sleep but then @
18.30 DS is falling asleep whilst I am trying to feed and still wakes up 1- 2 hours later!!!
22.00 7oz milk and will then sleep through until 06.30 when I wake him up

Any suggestions on altering my routine to incorporate weaning would be highly appreciated. Also, do you think that DS will start to want to be more awake during the day. I have a DD who is 2 and she was so alert and only had a lunch time nap which made weaning a lot easier.

If I alter timings so last bottle is at say 20.30, I am worried that he will wake up during the night.

Hi no advice about routines really but we had a big growth spurt around 6 months and since then she's changed her routine a little and will now stay awake for longer during the day - from 2hours to 3-4hrs. She has also gone from 3 naps a day to 2 (usually).

I would also say my LOs routine has changed in the last week, it's now something like this:
Wake 7.15
Bottle (7oz) 7.30
Breakfast (baby rice about a tablespoon)
Bottle (5oz) 10.30
Bottle (7oz) 13.30
Bottle (5-6oz) 16.30 / 17.00
Bottle 7 (7oz) 19.00
I figure we can fit in meals at about midday and then after the 16.30 bottle once we get to 3 a day. Plus then he might start to drop a bottle. Who knows! I'm just going with the flow for now.

Oh, forgot to say, LO usually has a short nap (around 30 mins) after 2-3 hours of being awake.
