Hubby's ring is titanium. We were looking at tungsten, but found out that it can't be cut off in an accident. The hospital doesn't have the proper tool, so a jewelry store is the only one who can do it. Hubby was planning on wearing his all the time and works in a factory setting, so we wanted something that could be cut off in an emergency if needed.
His ring is even worse than mine. He works with glass and is lifting heavy pieces all the time. It's scratched the finish off of his so it's now just a silver band. Too bad because we loved the detail.
When we were in Brighton in November sorting some wedding stuff we went to the Jewellery quarter and we tried on a few. The shop owners were really irritating so we didn't buy from them but we did decide I'd have a plain 4mm platinum band as the ones with the diamonds in them were too much for my taste and took something away from my engagement ring.
The tradition is to have a plain band, then after the birth of your first child you get an eternity ring.

I'm curious about this - is the eternity ring worn INSTEAD of the wedding ring? Or on the same finger? Or on a different finger? I'd like one, but I like the way my E&W rings sit right now and there's no space on that finger!
