Hi ladies dh and i are hoping for a referal to a fertility specialist (hoping we get a Bfp on our own) but i need to get my BMI down to 30 at the moment it's 38.43. So i'm looking at 3.5 to 4 stones. I'm not a lover of diets! so my plan is to exercise and follow a veggie based diet and i'm looking for support? anyone else trying to lose weight? Whats your goal? and how you doing it?

I'm with you. I haven't looked at my bmi lately, but I am the heaviest I've ever been, my clothes don't fit etc. Looking to lose, but slowly so as to not mess too much with my hormones etc. My plan is mainly to reduce sugar and refined carbs, up my fruits and veggies, and regular exercise, both cardio and weights.

i am on a diet and it is hard i get my exercise with my 2 year old son but i think i could start doing a little more. i would like to lose about 11 pounds

I am with you!!! I need and want to lose weight, and now that I know what it has been so hard I am not so discouraged. I want to lose around 40 lbs... The dr actually thinks if I get pregnant I should lose a little weight while pregnant too (b/c of the reasoning to why I put on weight).

i gained 26 pounds after getting off the depo...

I need to lose weight, but I am trying to stay stable while TTC. Once pregnant, I hope to gain in my belly and lose in other places. :)

I'm with you! I plan on losing 50 lbs next year. I've been eating healthy all of 2011 and exercising. I am so ready for my bfp! I've lost about 65 lbs this year. Let's do this!!!!

Congrats on your weight loss. That is awesome!!

I have put on just over 1.5 stone since getting married 16 months ago, so I'd really like to lose some weight. Starting a diet on the 3rd January, going to do simple healthy eating and exercise, would like to lose at least half of my gain. I'm only about 6lbs overweight but after nearly a year of ttc I'm beginning to wonder whether this is why I'm not pregnant :( xxx

Lily I know how ya feel when it comes to dieting. I too am trying to lose the weight. Im with ya!

I know this may sound cheesy but I'm really proud of everyone's weight loss and setting goals for the new year! It's so not an easy goal, but it can be done! Excess fat cells produce estrogens and other hormones which negatively interfere with reproduction. These effects can vary across different women. You are considered "overweight" if your BMI is between 25-29, and "obese" if 30 or higher. BMI less than 18.5 is considered "underweight", which can also negatively impact hormones and reproduction.

You can calculate your BMI here:
If in the US: https://www.nhlbisupport.com/bmi/
Metric System: https://www.nhlbisupport.com/bmi/bmi-m.htm

GOOD LUCK LOSING WEIGHT - just be sure to do it the right way, as I'm sure all you smart women know. If you need nutrition advice, check out Harvard's info: https://www.hsph.harvard.edu/nutritionsource/.

I really need you guys right now- so glad I found this thread!

I have piled on the weight over the last 5 years and am now the heaviest I have been at 12st 9 (177 pounds) and 5ft 3. I was 3 stone lighter after having my daughter 6 years ago :-(

I had issues with eating when I was younger and 'touch wood' have never had problems since having my kids.

BUT today I am really feeling out of control and stressed. When this happens I get a bit crazy and start getting a bit down and wishing that I could just starve myself for a wee while. I would never do it though as my kids need me to be on top form but honestly, I so need to get a handle on things.

I have drawn up a 6 week eating plan that a dietician would be proud of so and also typed up a weight chart based on an average loss of 2lb per week. I am really hoping to get pregnant this weekend but even if I do I know that piling on weight when pregnant is not going to help :-( so am trying to stay focused on just eating healthy.

I want to get fit but here in scotland the weather is so horrible right now I just want to curl up on sofa with a hot chocolate instead of going to gym!

Annie I hear you. I too am the heaviest ever. I'm tall (5'9 1/2), and a good weight for me is 150-180, which is a huge range, but really I'd be happy anywhere in that range, ideally 175 or less. I'm now over 200, and not sure how much over, since I'm terrified of getting on the scale. What I do know I'd that I only have one pair of pants that fit, and they are stretchy. I refuse to go to plus sizes so I've got to do something now. I want so much to get pregnant, but i'm so scared of piling on the pounds even more. I also don't want to restrict too severely, because that is terrible for tcc. I'm mainly trying to cut down on sweets and just tighten the reins a bit. I'm using the ap myfitnesspal to help keep my calories within a reasonable range, and I'm going to try to work out 4-6 times a week.

I am with you...I need to lose about 100lbs+ (I am about 280lbs now)

Woo hoo!!!

I might join another bootcamp next year. Its just like 'the biggest loser' tv show, anyone seen it? Anyways my bootcamp was 8 weeks and it was super hard, but so fun and worth it. I gained so much muscle and lost 10 lbs of fat during that time and 3'' from my thigh! Oooooohhh that soreness was bad!

Good luck ladies! I'm excited too!

I always fancied a bootcamp! I liked watching biggest loser although it is really sad that the personal trainer for the uk version committed suicide last month or so. - tragic that someone who was so inspiring to others also battled with demons :nope:

Am planning on getting the wii fit back out, weighing myself :dohh: and doing some zumba.

Mind if I join in? My DH and I have been trying to try since august but due to no ovulation I had to start Clomid. Right now I'm at 165 and I have already lost 5 pounds. Due to my 5' 3" height I need to lose about 40 pounds to e my ideal weight. I'm really hoping that by focusing on weight loss I will get pregnant easier. My dr has already told me that my progesterone levels are on the lower end. From what I have read being overweight can cause low progesterone levels. Praying we all get BFPs in january!
