Welcome to the 'Two Week Wait'

Lil-what is the scoop with yours and DH's test results? Can you share?

AFM, I am on CD 7 and in a great mood! I had an HSG today and my tubes are all clear!!!:happydance: Yippeee!!! That is such a relief. And DH had another sperm analysis, and it came out fabulous!! Another relief. So I am really hoping this is the cycle for our BFP. I am taking Clomid CD 5-9, and hoping to do an IUI this cycle. I am so excited. I feel like my BFP is just around the corner.

Babydust to everyone and welcome to the newbies!!!

Wendy that's GREAT news! :happydance::happydance::happydance: Now maybe you'll be one o fthe lucky ones who gets sticky in there after HSG??? And DH SA tests results, too! Mine's motility was a little down but not bad.

Sorry I know I promised to post test results - I've been so busy! I have clotting problems due to a compound heterozygous MTHFR gene mutation – one copy of the gene mutation C677T & one copy of the gene mutation A1298C. (You can probably imagine the word that came to my mind after seeing the acronym! - so immature, I know but that’s what I’m calling it… :haha: )

So, on a list of “severity” it’s #2 out of 5 mutations or combinations thereof. I don’t have elevated cysteine (thank God) but I have elevated thrombosis antigen (again, clotting, so makes sense). Here is what it says:

What Are the Implications?
Any and all of the mutations can affect homocysteine levels, but there is much dispute as to whether elevated homocysteine levels are actually needed in order for MTHFR to cause medical complications. Many other MTHFR patients have normal homocysteine levels; yet have had implantation problems, m/c(s), and/or stillbirth(s) due to clotting problems. This is a serious field and MTHFR is a serious condition, so consulting an expert is wise.

All you have to do to fix this “serious mutation” – 5mg folate/folic acid (Rx – its 12x normal dose), extra B6, extra B12 & baby aspirin. That’s it :grr::grr::grr::nope::nope: It can’t apparently hurt you to take extra of these vit’s as you just pee them out, but if anyone is interested, Dashka found a good one: “amazon list this may be a good one: Thorne Research - 5-MTHF (5-Methyltetrahydrofolate) - 1mg 60's….. It has to be Methyltetrahydrofolate as I think that is already converted and doesn’t have to be converted by the body.” I'm taking prescription version now but may buy Thorne one if absorbs better than Rx? (supposed to take 1-2 mos before TTC, but too late)

Please excuse long post but hoping this may ring a bell with someone else & can help them whether TTC or already preg? Also better to take a lot more if advanced age.

:hugs: to all of those w/AF & :dust: to all in 2WW!!!

JW - Oh darlin', I had a cycle that was long & was glad ot finally see :witch: too. But you're right, it made me feel like at least I know what's going on! Limbo is the WORST. Hopefully you won't have another one of those! I was just worried that "if" AF became a cyst & was on 14DPO, then you'd be CD10 & may miss another opportunity...

Why is it that once we start TTC, our cycles decide to go crazy & mess w/our heads? :argh:

Be nice to yourself this week & take it easy - you've just been thru a whirlwind of a cycle :awww: :hugs:

Dashka - I am hoping lack of symptoms is GOOD thing!!!! :winkwink: Take care of yourself & very glad you got at least 5.5 hrs sleep (yikes, that's still not good). Hopefully this weekend you can get a little mid-day  in to make up for it?

I may buy that Thorne brand that you said absorbed better bc I'm unsure if me prescription absorbs well? (Folgard)

My sister & family have been on good behavior - swimming with the Dolphins today & then snorkeling (in the Keys) & then head back here so I had a nice little break, thanks for asking! Take care of yourself & I'm really hoping lowered immune system & lack of AF symptoms mean something cooking in the oven!!! :hugs:

Maybe you are PG, Ella! Take another test:happydance::happydance:
That is really weird. Can you get a blood test, by chance?

It would be crazy if I was pg after all of this. lol. This is the weirdest cycle I've ever had. AF sort of returned this morning, but just really light spotting and that's let up again as well. Maybe she'll come back full-force tomorrow...but if not, I told DH I would test again. I'm expecting a BFN, but hey, maybe I'll get a nice Easter surprise. :)

And hooray for clear tubes and a good SA!!! Your month is definitely coming up soon. Maybe the HSG will make things really sticky in there and you'll get a BFP this cycle! That would be so great!! :) :happydance:

Hi ladies!

sorry to all who have the :witch: visiting! but you can now plan your next cycle and move on..:flower:

Ella - that is so weird?? Was it heavy red flow or just spotting? I think I mentioned before that my mother had periods for several months with both my sister and I... What CD are you?

Hello to everyone out there including Sarah, Laura, Posey, Beautiful, Gemmy and everyone I missed!

Happy Easter to those who celebrate!:bunny::bunny::bunny::bunny::bunny::bunny::bunny::bunny::bunny::bunny::toothpick::toothpick::toothpick: Hope the Easter bunny is good to you... xoxo

She had a period for months with both you and your sister? Wow. That does make me slightly more hopeful about this crazy cycle. :)

Well, technically, I'm CD4, but if you tack it on to my last cycle, I'm CD37 (18DPO).

So it started out as spotting, got a bit heavier (but brown), turned into red flow for about 8 hours and then left. I spotted brown this morning and now nothing. I thought it was going to be really heavy (like the last two times when my cycle was over 30 days), since AF didn't start until CD34 and there should have been quite a bit of build up...but this is lighter than even my 26 day cycles.

I could just be having a really funky cycle and AF is just over...I mean, there were a couple of days before AF came when I was having terrible AF symptoms and no AF. I wonder if my body thought it was having AF then and now thinks it should be done...

I guess I'll see what happens tomorrow... :)

KellyM – CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!! I wsih you a H&H 9 mos! :happydance:

Wait4baby – sorry to hear about BFN, but its not over til :witch: comes

Wendy – GL on HSG  Doesn’t hurt too much & I even had complics due to tilted uterus, so he had ot “blow up” the tube vs the main part. I squealed on that but just for a second. The rest was cake-walk, little cramping that’s all. GL!

Ella – I think we had the dream conversation before, but when TTC, I hear of +HPT dreams & it happening. I had a +OPK dream the first month I started temping, after 9 mos. –OPK’s (used cheapies) & me thinking I wasn’t ov-ing, I had a dream on CD27 that I got a +OPK with a smiley face (of all days?) & guess what? I woke up the next day, said aw, WTH, bought CBE digi, tested & got my 1st EVER +OPK! I know its not a +HPT, but man you would have thought it was I was so, so :happydance:!!! So, pay attn. to those dreams girl – it may sound , but sometimes dreams DO come true!!! Wow, the patience you have - FX for you for :bfp:!!!

Sarah – 9 more days! Maybe they can fax results to Dr & you can call in? geez, the WAITING I tell you! Glad you aren’t as  & just tired now. Too bad you can’t have the 4 cups of coffee you probably want rt now! What’s a good coffee alternative bc I’m gonna have a super-rough time w/that one?! :hugs:

Babysiew – welcome! We have a saying here that it’s not over until :witch: arrives bc it really isn’t – some people don’t get +HPT for up to a week after AF due, so GL!

Betty – hope you caught that egg!

JW – Gosh, you are keeping me in suspense here, too! :haha: Yes, some women don’t show +HPT until up to a week after AF due, so? I looked at yoru chart & it seems like it got the right day (actually I was thinking 1 day earlier), but if you didn’t do OPK, hard to tell sometimes? I’ve had AF come after 17DPO, so hormones can mess w/you too… Wow, FX for you!!!!!!

Dashka – how are you? Are you in 2WW now? :dust:

AFM – FF says I ov’d on CD18, but I’m pretty darn sure I ov’d yest/last night. I really hope so bc CD18 would not be a good day for me to ov (barely a chance since BD’d 3 days before). I know it “can” last “up to” 5 days, but that’s the extreme circumstance – :spermy: is more likely to last 2, maybe 3 days. Altho, I must say that either gf juice, mucinex or the combo gave me huge amts EWCM this cycle – yay! The last time I saw this amt was when I got preg Jan 2011 & maybe rt before I tried the Clomid. So…had large amts still CD20 plus a +OPK on CD19, so I’m pretty sure we ov’d CD20 (& we BD’d on both CD19 & CD20). Oh well, whatever...

I’ll post my fert Dr results when I can. I gotta get back to work & also I don’t really understand them enough to post, so have to look up a couple of things. Working 12-hr days this week & super busy on top of that bc my sister & her whole family is coming in on Thurs for Easter & my “new house” isn’t quite put together yet! Yikes, gonna lose it pretty soon here & its only Tues!:wacko::wacko:

Hey LilSluz!

Only 4 more days now! My doctor thinks that they'll tell me, but he's not positive. I've had a rough few days and could really use some good news on Wednesday.

My grandmother has been sick with COPD for some time and she just keeps getting worse. Then I went to visit my parents on Wednesday after my last prenatal visit and my Uncle has been diagnosed with leukemia! And work has been SO stressful lately! I don't know what to do with myself. I'm so stressed about my grandmother and my uncle and work, but I know that I need to stay calm to focus on the baby and my pregnancy.

I just need a break from real life. Just a pause where I can rejuvenate and start to get my energy back.

Yay - 4 more days! And happy sweet potato!

But, boooo on everything else!!!? :growlmad: I'm so sorry to hear about grandma & uncle.:nope: Gosh, what a week you've had! I don't suppose you have a little vacation time - or even a day off to make for a long weekend? Get some acupuncture or mani-pedi or something else relaxing? Are you interested at all in meditation or anything like that?

You are going to need to do something for yourself every once in a while when life throws stuff at you while preg - it will be worth it to keep yourself calm & relaxed & its imperative to you & baby's health, just remember. I know easier said than done, but try to remember that worrying about your grandma & uncle isn't going to make them any better, but it can make you & baby worse. :(

Aw, I'm sending you some virtual :hugs:, honey! Let me know what happens w/them. Hang in there & come vent on BNB anytime you need to - you might feel better. We are all here for you :flower:.

Ella - how are you feeling now? Is AF around or is she gone now? Hate these weird cycles!!!! As if TTC isn't hard enough! :nope:

Sarah- :hugs: I'm so sorry to hear about your grandmother and uncle. That's so hard when it feels like everything is happening at once. It sounds like you've got so much on your plate at the moment. But I hope things get better soon. Just know we're here for you whenever you need us. :hugs:

Sarah - I am sorry to hear about your grandmother and uncle - I hope you get through this and you can enjoy your pregnancy and this very special time.... Happy Sweet Potato :flower:

Ella - how are you today???

Lils - You are such a sweetheart! Re: the Folic acid - please make sure that if you have that clotting issue that you DON'T Take the regular Folic acid.... My ND said that you would have to take the Methyltetrahydrofolate if you have the MTHFR clotting issue and that is the one that is already converted and doesn't have to be converted by the body (some people have a problem converting regular folic acid). So please get that one -as I don't think even if you increased the regular one to 5mg that you could absorb any of it.... Again it's better to be safe... I looked up the Folguard you mentioned and I think that is just regular Folic acid on the label right?

I take Folapro (by Metagenics) and this is what the label says:
Folate (L-5 Methyltetrahydrofolate)

Hope that helps!

Happy Easter ladies!!

xoxo

Ella - how are you feeling now? Is AF around or is she gone now? Hate these weird cycles!!!! As if TTC isn't hard enough! :nope:

Woke up with a massive headache, but it's gone now, thankfully. AF is still missing. No spotting, nothing going on down there except a couple of cramps now and then. Not the AF type...so I've decided it's just gas. lol. My TWW symptoms have reappeared, but I wonder if it's just because my hormones are all out of whack with this weird AF thing going on. Temp up a bit and BFN on the test this morning, but I figured it would be...

I've told DH that next time I think I'm pg with BFN and AF is late, I'm going to go to the dr and request a blood test. I've kind of lost my faith in ever seeing a BFP with what happened in Jan. Do you think I'd see one if I tested early?

Definitely hate the weird cycles! I wish it was much clearer...

Maria- How did your mom figure out she was pregnant if she had periods?

Hey Lil,
Wow, that sounds complex, but I have heard of that before-a few other ladies on here have talked about that mutation. I am SO glad that you can take supplements to help with that-hopefully an easy fix. Hang in there, you are a tough chic!

Happy Easter everyone!:bunny:

Ella, that is SO weird. I think you definitely have something going on. Keep testing!

Sarah, so sorry to hear about grandma not doing well, and your uncle. Cancer is such an ugly thing-I know all about it, as my mom had breast cancer. Thank God she is in remission:) If at all possible, try to pamper yourself a little bit. Can you take a day off of work and have a spa day?

Maria, what dpo are you? Feeling any better?

Gemmy, where are you chica???:winkwink:

Have a great day!!

Gosh, Ella - strange cycle this time around! Glad the headache is gone. I don't really know if it would show up by testing early - you mean by testing at like 10-12DPO vs waiting for :AF:? It's really hard to say but by 14DPO I think 90-95% of tests should show it. You may have just had a 1-2 day AF? Now its like...hmmmm, ok are you on CD5 then? Otherwise you'd be 20DPO right so HPT should have shown up by now? Maybe still treat as :AF: "until"? I just don't want you to miss the next ov if it was AF...

I wish I had better answers for you. :hugs::hugs::hugs: What happened in Jan? Sorry I think I ended up here in maybe Feb so must have just missed it?

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you dashka!!!! I just bought 2 on Amazon for about $29/bottle (by Metagenics). :happydance::happydance::happydance:

Hopefully its "not too late", but if it is, I'll catch it next cycle.

How you feeling today? How are those nonexistent AF symptoms - still nonexistent I hope? Maybe we'll both get Easter miracles! I think we're getting closer, I can feel it! :bunny::bunny::bunny:

I better go - just got done champagne brunch & going swimming w/niece & nephew... It's 79 degrees, sunny, slight breeze - just a beautiful Easter! Couldn't ask for more... life is great!

Yep, I'm talking about testing before AF is due as opposed to when she's late.

Back in Jan I had a mc a little after 5 weeks. Never saw a BFP when I tested when AF was late, even after she was over a week late. I thought it was just a late period due to stress or something until the crazy bleeding started. Doc confirmed that it was an mc...an mc without a BFP, despite testing for days. So...even when I should have seen a BFP, I didn't. Which is why I'm just not confident I'll ever see a BFP...well, at least not early on. But then sometimes I think, would I have seen a BFP in Dec/Jan if I had tested early? Maybe...maybe not. Maybe I'll just have to go with a blood test...

But I'm definitely not going to be waiting around and miss ov this cycle coming up. I'm keeping both options open. Maybe I'll get a super late BFP...but maybe it was a super short AF and I'm waiting to ov. Either way, I'm ready. :)

DH is potentially going to be gone right before ov happens, but I'm hoping some of those swimmers will hang around long enough (if ov comes at it's usual time, it's only a day after DH leaves...but I haven't been taking any cinnamon, so it might happen earlier).

TTC sure does make things crazy. I've found out that two friends are pregnant today. I was happy for them and envious at the same time. But I know one day, I'll get the chance to do the same. I've just got to work on being patient. ;)

Ella - good for you I'm glad you are keeping both options open!

So sorry to hear about mc! :nope: I would have thought it would show up too, so I'm hesitant, but a little suspect when people go way past 15/16DPO & then have heavy bleeding, but you "could" just get a short bleed for mc I suppose?

Yes, I know exactly what you are talking about now - testing early. Maybe test at 12DPO? a "lot" seem to be in by then - I think 70-80%? Some people would rather not know about chem pregs, but if you've had mc before, I am a believer in knowing all you can to increase chances & if you are having missed mc's, I know I'd want to know to see why it is I am not implanting, up my baby aspirin, up my prog cream & up my folic acid (or better yet L-5-MTHFR, better form of folic acid I am learning). All 3 of those things are not harmful whether you have a condition or not so maybe start taking them after ov? (well, you would take folic acid every day, the others can/should be 2WW meds only). I think you may have mentioned before that you were taking baby aspirin, are you taking anything else to "make sticky"/assist in implantation?

I am also open to suggestions if you/anybody else has them bc I'm recurrent mc... (& I know in my heart I've had more than the 2 in my signature, too :sad2: just not confirmed by Dr...)

GL to you hun & keep us updated (I'll be stalking, too...:winkwink: )!!!:hugs:

Thanks, Lil. :) Sorry for your losses. :hugs:

When I mc'd I had a normal period for 5 days, a little heavy because the cycle was over 30 days, it started to dry up...and bam. Super heavy bleeding. We're talking soaking through pads/tampons in under 10 minutes at times. The doc put me on meds to help stop the bleeding because it was so heavy (at least that's what he told me) but it did help, so I can't really complain. I still had a 2 1/2 week period despite the meds. Not fun.

So, I don't think I've had an mc with a two day AF, but I do have a secret fear that in a couple of days I'm going to have a massive bleed again. DH worries about it too, bless him. I mean...where has all the blood gone? If there was only that tiny bit of blood in there all month, does that mean there's something else wrong that I need to worry about? Could it have been IB or something? Is it just hormones? No idea. It's been a weird cycle all around, so I guess I'm just riding it out at the moment.

I'm trying not to stress out, but I'm torn between hopeful and worried. Not to mention that I've been randomly bursting into tears the past couple of days. Seriously, I'll be reading a book or watching tv and then I'm crying and I don't know why. It really freaks DH out. My hormones are just so out of whack at the moment. That's probably why my TWW symptoms keep coming back.

I used to be a test after AF is late because I didn't want to know about any chemical pgs, but now I'd rather know that be stuck in limbo. I would love to even get a hint of a line. I feel a bit robbed that I didn't get to see one back in Dec/Jan. But at the same time, I might have been even more heartbroken about it if I did. So maybe it is for the best...

As for sticky making, I've been taking folic acid for a while but now I'm eating pineapple and walnuts for implantation. Walnuts are a new addition. It's what some doctors recommend to women doing IUI and IVF to help aid implantation, so I figure it can't hurt for me to eat them. Plus I love nuts. They say to start at like 4-5DPO and eat a handful a day until the end of your cycle. We'll see if they work.

Thanks for the support Lil.

Can I just say that I love the TWW. You ladies really are awesome.

I have lots of vacation time, but my work makes you request days off at least 3 weeks in advance so by the time I can take a day off, I'll hopefully be feeling a bit better. I'm off today, but hubby and I still have a full day of stuff to do. I'm hoping to relax for a bit later, but I doubt that'll happen to be honest.

Thanks for your support!
