Welcome to Trying To Conceive #1

Also if you haven't gotten your thyroid checked do it your thyroid controls all of most of your hormones therefore can cause trouble ovulating periods and almost everything in-between

I do think that maybe it's too early. Wait it out, but don't give up! I know the waiting is long--each day when I check my calendar I think what? I thought he had already been 2 days....but in fact it's only been like 5 hours later.

Hello,
I'm new here - my OH and I have decided this is the year to start trying. I've come off the pill and have had my first period. Bit concerned I won't be able to work out a cycle though as I have PCOS and without the pill I generally only have periods every 2 years! Is there any hope ladies?!

Hi Keableg, didn't want to read and run!!... I've also had irregular cycles since I can remember, so was difficult to pinpoint if I was even ovulating at all.. Went to a fertility specialist and was prescribed Provera to induce my period and then told to start taking clomid to help with ovulation... Just finished first course of clomid and just waiting to ovulate.. So there is definitely hope and help available if you need it.. :hugs:

Hi BelievingFor2,
That's good to know - think I need to speak to my GP again. I have a friend with PCOS who has three lovely children so I know it's possible. It's just a worry in the back of my head which gets louder sometimes!

Been trying for over a year, have hypothyroidism and irregular cycles feeling lost

My husband and I have been TTC for 2 months now. I know that I have to be patient, but that is a difficult task for me. My husband is definitely more laid back when it comes to TTC and thinks that we will conceive when it is our time. However, I am definitely more the planning type and like to have a little more control of the situation. Haha! I have been charting my cycles for a few months and thought I had a pretty good idea when I was ovulating, but was very disappointed when AF showed up today. I think I am going to start charting my BBT this month. Any advice?

My husband and I have been trying for almost 4 months now and he is def. the more laid back type too. He's always telling me to stop charting and rading stuff on line and fertility books etc. He always says that it will just happen whenever it happens but me on the other hand I'm like nooo I need it to happen now!!

I tried charting when I would ovulate and that didn't go well since i'm still not pregnant. This month I'm going to start for the first time charting my BBT. Hopefully all goes well. Good luck to you and your hubby!!

hi everyone. i am new. i guess i am looking for a "support group" of some sort. i am just going to jump into my story to see if anyone can relate. (please bare with me) my husband and i have been married for 2 years and 3 months and we have been trying on and off for our first. i started to "freak out" 7 months into the marriage that something wasn't right so we started checking everything we were told to check - though the doctor then told us it was too soon to worry i knew something was wrong. so these are the tests we did. general hormonal bloodwork, salpingograph (did i spell that correctly?) and a spermodiagram- found that one fallopian tube was blocked and that according to the then doctor everything else seemed fine. he said that since there was no former pelvic inflamation of any sort that i knew of that i was probably born that way and that i should just set a deadline and then see him about IVF options.
i waited 6 months, nothing so i went to a different doctor. the new doctor sent me for a pcr real time dna test (they use your menstrual blood) to find out if i had been infected by chlamydia at some point in my life which is the leading cause for blocked tubes AND after seeing my 6 month old bloodwork sent me to an endocrynologist to check my thyroid further. he also said that i had PCOS. yay.
well, after almost 3 months of antibiotics to rid myself of the chlamydia and 9 months of meds until regualted my hypothyroidism the doctor said all is good, relax and we wait.
in between my husband had three atrial fibrillation crises and if you factor in the stress, the blocked tubes the hypothyroidism the PCOS it's as if we hadn't been trying at all.
i ended up going to a different doctor just to get a second opinion and he said that 34 was too old to keep trying on our own and that since we are clean of the evil fallopian eating bacteria we should do another salpingograph. turns out i had a hydrosalpinx and so much scar tissue on my other fallopian tube that only some of the dye could pass through.
i had laparoscopic surgery and corrected everything two months ago, last month due to heart problems my hubby was not up for trying so this is technically our first month in trying. the only thing left is to see if my PCOS keeps me from ovulating. (sigh)
thanks for reading. sorry if it was too long. hard to discuss this with friends when they are all parents or already pregnant. real hard to keep our head up. thanks
happy new year good health strength and stay positive. :flower:

same here--laid back husband and i'm getting more panicky by the month!
this is our 6th month TTC; i've been charting for 5 months. my only real worry is that my luteal phase is on the short side (10/11 days), but i'm also 33 and can practically HEAR my biological clock ticking.

Same as with all men!
My hubby is very laid back too, but I've been getting restless and depressed... seeing we've been TTC for 2 years!
Had 3 failed IUI's and now waiting to be referred for IVF...

Hey - Hoping someone can help... I got a faint-ish positive today and I was hoping someone could confirm, it came up pretty much straight away but I'm just in a bit of an over excited tizzy.... I feel pregnant but think I need someone to tell me they also think I am. I never thought I'd be like this... EEEK! Answers on a postcard please xx

Thank you, I really hope so.... It's all bit strange!

What I will say is, I was off the pill since wedding in May and had been doing the deed at the wrong time for months and months.... First month with £20 ovulation kit (I ovulate really late, typical as I'm ALWAYS late) and bobs your uncle.

Thank you for the well wishes xx

I'm so happy for you!! This DEFINITELY looks like a positive!! From someone with low progesterone---my dr tells me that a "faint" positive is just as good as a positive.

Congrats on the :bfp:

I just god it from local pharmacy, you get 7 sticks to measure hormone and a preg test... Whichi typically used too early... Best thing I ever bought.

Good luck xx
