Welcome to 'Trying To Conceive Over 35'

Traci- got my fx'd for ov' this month for you! Did your doc say anything about the super long cycles other than putting you on bc??

hey, nope, absolutely nothing, just told me to keep having sex. Er, yeah!!!!! but at my age, it doesn't really help, does it. Long cycles and aging eggs???? Oh well, I usually have an OK length one after a long one, so here's hoping for a good, successful cycle this time eh?

AWW.. sorry about that! I wonder if there are drugs that you could take to make it happen?

hey Ali, glad things are looking good for you, can't wait to hear some good news. I had heard of people using Soy isoflavones in a similar way to Clomid, but if you take them wrong, there's a chance of them having the opposite effect.

I'm far too honest for my own good, I know I should have said that I had been trying for longer, I mean, I did mention the MC we had last year and that we were trying for a few cycles after that, but then made the mistake of saying that we took a break to help my head out.

I'm still keeping the appointment I had booked for the 19th as I don't like this pain I'm having, it seems deeper to me than just groin strain. I might push things a bit more then, I'm seeing a different Doctor, so maybe he will act different. I'm making a note of when things change with the pain. Its odd, but Paracetamol seems to help and that never really helps with anything else for me.

I've been away for a few days this weekend, so its just taken me over an hour to catch up with you all. it sounds like we've got a few TWWs to keep an eye on. Really excited, looking forward to seeing some BFPs.

Off camping next weekend while Hubby is diving. I wish I could dive with him, but TCC is more important at the moment, we can dive together again once we have a little baby, as long as we take someone else with us to look after baby while we're under water. I have a funny feeling that it would be typical for me to 'O' next weekend while we're camping as it'll be a bit awkward to do anything with our friends in tents nearby, but hey, I guess that adds a little bit of something to it  Hubby is away the weekend after Mountain biking in Wales, so it'd better not be then!!!

Thanks! It would be great for me to be successful this month, but I really don't know what the odds of it working will be. I have not been medicated this month, and so far everything has been natural. I do have a pretty follicle, even the US person said it looked awesome. HEHE :haha: I was thinking about it this morning. If I do get pregnant, I can tell him or her, that I first saw him/her as a 10mm follicle on my left ovary. The US tech said, my what a pretty follicle, but since there was a 16mm one on my right, she felt that it wouldn't catch up. Since then the 16mm (cyst) has gone away, and my 10mm follicle has grown to be a 18mm follicle and the surge has begun! Now wouldn't that be a story?

I think you need to press your Dr and get them to be more aggressive. I am probably a Dr's worst nightmare, as I go in there with the answers I want to hear, and wait for him to give them to me. I have already done all the research and have a pretty good idea of what the plan should be, and if he doesn't give me that plan I ask him why, and won't take NO until I hear the pro's and con's of his choice versus what I thought we should do. I do usually defer to the Dr if his decisions make sense. As I said.. I'm a Dr's worst nightmare!!! :haha:
Seriously though, if you want to have a baby, you need to find out why you have such long cycles, and see if there is anything you can do to make them shorter. I can't remember how old you said you were, but if you are in this group then you are definitely over 35, which means that our biological clock is ticking! So when you have that appt next week, go in there and be assertive :) Good luck and :hugs:

Thanks Ali, I'll think of you on my next Doctors visit, hopefully you'll help me to put my foot down. I've just turned 37 btw.

Yes! Pretend you are me (or Coy) as we are both pretty assertive  I'm turning 40 in October, so I'm a few years ahead of you. I have a friend that said her periods stopped coming but for every 2-3 months, like you. She wasn't trying to conceive so the Dr put her on BCP, and now she is regular. She mentioned that if she had been trying to conceive the Dr was going to put her on metformin if that didn't get things going they were going to add clomid. She was diagnosed with PCOS, which is why she wasn't having her period as often. Could this be the reason your periods are so long?

Well, I've just done an OPK and it shows a very feint line, so hopefully I'll be ovulating at some point in the next few days, I'll do another test tomorrow and report.

Ali, yes, I have PCOS, well, I was diagnosed with it about 20 years ago, I mentioned it to the doc, asking him if it was that causing the pain. He just poked around at me and said he could feel an inflamed ligament, so put it down as groin strain. I'm sure its a cyst there causing it, but if the pain is still there, I will go back for that second opinion.

I wish I could be assertive, I'm often being told I'm too soft. Even my Hubby tells me that, but then he is very similar too.

hehe, I just made Hubby aware and his response was "OK", wow, enthusiastic huh? He wants a baby, nearly as much as I do, but, just like all men, he doesn't like to be told what to do. Guess its going to be a lot of seducing over the next few days on my part. LOL  :haha:

Saying that, I've just read Fifty Shades of Grey and I'm reading the second book of the trilogy now. Wow, thats enough to put anyone in the mood. Have any of you ladies read it? WOW! Steamy and very descriptive!

Oh yes, it is that. I read the first one in 3 days on my new Kindle. I struggled to put it down. I actually cried yesterday in the car at the end of the first one. :sad2: I think I got a bit too involved in it. I've never cried reading a book before. :dohh:

OMG! I just finished the trilogy a few weeks ago. Let me tell you, it was difficult to read that book as a single lady. Luckily I had a BF during the first book, but WOW! That book was umm.. WILD?

We all need to have a discussion with our inner Goddess :haha:

I was trying to concieve with a previous partner,so when I met my hubby we moved in together after just 3 weeks,we had been trying to concieve for 12 months but I told dr 18 months,we had tests and I was put on clomid and conceived 1st month,I think that kick started my fertility as we now have 5 lol

Does anyone know if clomid can make your PCOS show up again? I am positive that both my Dr's said I didn't have PCOS 2-3 months ago. But now after 1 month of clomid, my ovaries are slightly poly-cystic? Is this a potential side effect?

I'm glad it worked for you Alin! 5 and you want another? HEHE. That is a big family!
