Welcome to 'Trying To Conceive Over 35'

Well, at least 3 for Monday and maybe another 3 for each of another erm..... 3 future babies to freeze. At least!!!!

Good luck, hope its pain free.

Ali, I hope they get loads and loads and loads!
Good luck!!
thinking about you!
phil.

Ali- Yay for ER day! :happydance: I hope everything goes well. Won't expect to hear from you until tomorrow maybe as you mentioned something about Valium?? You may be out for a bit :) Thinking about you today though! Got my fx'd for dozens of awesome little eggs! :)

Hello to the rest of you ladies! :hi:

AFM- I woke up last night and T had a temperature of 103.5! Scared me but got medicine in her fast and Kat had a temp of 102.6 so meds for her too...then I sat up a couple hours to watch them and make sure the temp went down. It did. They woke up cheery but all stuffy so scheduled a doc appt. for this afternoon. Poor little kids :sad1: I hate when my babies are sick :nope: I feel okay and dh had a mall fever yesterday. Hopefully no sore throat for him though he is positive he'll get it all :haha: Silly man, he is overconfident that if there is a sickness he will get it- I keep telling him not necessarily so!

So today is unpredictable except for a few errands to run. Will keep in touch you ladies

ER done! Only 15 mature eggs.. but wow that's a lot!!! I'll here tomorrow how many fertilized. Then they will let me know when the ET will be, but most likely it will be Monday.

15 eggs is great Ali, fingers crossed many fertilize. GL for Monday!

I'll be stalking (trying to chill at the moment girls, normal posting should resume soon) xoxo

That's fabulous news!!!! So thrilled for you and can't wait for the next step. How are you feeling? Great things are coming!!! :happydance:

Hey All,

Now that I'm home and Michael has gone I can write a little more. It was quite an ordeal let me tell you!

We got there a little early and it was a zoo at the office, I have never seen it that busy! Lots of women, like 3-4 couples. Normally when I go in, I'm usually the only person there (or maybe one other woman). So it was a little crazy. Then I waited until 10:25 before they brought me back (I'd been asked to be there at 10am for prep). Then it took them another 20 minutes to get everything organized and situate me in the operating room and ensure that the anesthesiologist was ready. Once he got the IV in me, it wasn't long before it was all happening. Before I knew it I was waking up, and they were still working on it! I remember yelling 'OUCH THAT HURTS' and then Dr. Denker was asking me to be quite and stop talking. I'm like well stop hurting me! Then I guess the anesthesiologist gave me more propofol and I was out again. Then I woke up and it was all over. The whole thing took 30 minutes I guess? They were able to retrieve 15 mature eggs from the 33 original follicles, they said that not all of the follicles were big enough to contain eggs, but that they got them all. YAY! Apparently they had to have one of the nurses sit on my abdomen to get the follicles/eggs from my left ovary. :haha: So they said I will probably be in some pain in that area. I was in a lot of pain as I woke up and the anesthesia wore off. The Dr gave me another Rx for Percocet because of this. So then Michael drove me home and the whole time I'm biting my tongue. He is the absolute WORST driver ever! I always forget that. Anyway, we managed to get to the exit 3 away from mine, and then the highway is at a standstill. So we did a U-turn and drove the wrong way down the on ramp (making it an off ramp) to get to the side streets. We weren't the only ones doing it. I am fairly sure that the highway was closed up ahead. So then we get off the highway and the side streets are clogged because everyone else is doing that too! We finally got home and I realized it had taken us 1 hour to get home, when it normally takes me 25 minutes. :growlmad: The whole time he's weaving like a drunkard, and wasn't used to my brakes, and would stomp on them instead of being gentle. Bear in mind that I was in a lot of pain all of this time, and so each brake hurt like, well you know what! So it was quite an ordeal. As soon as I got home I took 2 percocet, and within about 20 minutes was finally feeling better.
So then we ordered pizza, and I said to Michael, what would you like (my treat for him helping me out), and he said oh, I'll just have a piece of whatever you are getting. So I ordered enough for me to have extra for the next 2 days (since I don't know how I will feel tomorrow and wanted to have some food in the house for me) and I figured he'd have 1-2 pieces. Well the pizza arrives and he gorges himself, and I said hey! You said you'd only have 1-2 pieces, I bought this extra so I would have food for dinner and all day tomorrow. Please stop eating! :growlmad: It annoys me when people do that, it wasn't like I didn't ask him BEFORE I ordered! UGH. He just left a few minutes ago, so it is now quiet and I can take a nap. WHEW!

I will get a call tomorrow from Dr. Denker letting me know how many of the eggs fertilized, and we'll discuss when I should come back for the transfer, it will most likely be Monday, but in some cases they like to wait an extra day to give them more time to grow before transferring them back. So we'll just have to see what they think!

Even if I was just ranting about Michael, he is a good friend and I am super happy :happydance: and excited :wohoo: Oh, and I'm not nearly as bloated either. The albumen must have worked!! :yipee:

Ali- Wow! I am so excited for oyu! Soudns like an ordeal though- the anesthesiologist should have ensured that you never woke up though :growlmad: And crazy they had to sit on you! What'd they have to do, sit on you like a ketchup jug to "ssquirt" the eggs out? Whatever works! I am so stoked that they got 15 eggs to work with though, I can't wait to hear how many fertilized. So do they fertilize them before freezing any extras? Cool

Michael sounds like any typical man- he likes to eat! :haha: Glad you made it safe though. There are times with my dh that I have to bite my tongue too, or just close my eyes! :haha: Sometimes the dd's will ask "Papa- would you like mama to drive?" LOL! Too funny.

It was an interesting day! I can't help but feel happy and anxious to hear how many fertilized! Won't be long now as I will be sleeping very soon!

Yes, they are all fertilized and they will all grow until they get to the 6-8 cell range which usually takes 3 days. When I go in for the transfer they will freeze any of the higher quality extras for future FET (frozen embryo transfer).

Apparently my left ovary was not co-operating and so the nurse sat on my left side to push the ovary out so the Dr could get the eggs!

I'm extremely sore right now, glad I have some Percocet!

How are the DDs feeling now? Any improvement? Did you take them to the Dr? I hope you don't get it too!

So babes is stretching out in there huh? Is that a sign that she wants out? Or could she stay in situ for a while? What is your gut feeling?

Hope all of you ladies are doing well out there!

My gut feeling says she'll be early, dh thinks by end of September but not beyond  Guess we'll see! Dd's have runny noses and minor fevers (99.5- 101.0) today, so have been pumping Advil and Tylenol intermittently with Benadryl when they need it. Now they cry because their poor little noses are sore from blowing :sad1: We did take them to see the doctor - she said it is viral and every kid in town has it :growlmad: Said to keep doing what I have been doing basically  but add a cold med to Teagens routine as she has a bit of a cough. Nope, I haven't got it  Dh had the sore throat and stuffy/runny nose yesterday but is fine today  T's 103.5 temp scared me this morning though, so I will set an alarm for every 3 hours tonight to keep a closer eye on it.

Wow, so we are getting an up-close look at what happens to the egg during it's process! Very awesome! So what's happening now is what generally happens en route to the uterus, correct? Cool. Now we wait for Monday! :happydance:

I guess it could be anytime then! I just hope that whenever she comes it is a quick and painless labor, and that the end result is a very healthy little girl!

So glad the DDs are doing better! Sound like you are being the doting mommy, making sure they are all OK!

Yes, the eggs are now fertilized, that would have happened this afternoon I think. The process does mirror the natural process. Naturally, the egg is fertilized and floats Dow the Fallopian tube. During that time it splits and prepares for implantation. So mine are doing the same thing in the lab.

What I don't understand is how/why they only incubate the embryos for 3 days. During the natural process the embryo would still be in the tube on day 3. So wouldn't the IVF embryo be too immature on day 3 for implantation? Or maybe it just hangs out in there for a few days before it implants at or around the same time it would naturally around 5-8 DPO.

Ali- I read this script online that actually indicates day 3 would be the day implantation would take place: I will post it here:

When Does Implantation Occur?

Implantation typically occurs 6 to 10 days after ovulation, or day 20 to 24 of a menstrual cycle. However, it can happen a few days earlier or later. In an average, 28-day cycle, ovulation occurs on day 14 (the first day of a period is considered day 1 in a cycle). Once fertilization occurs, the egg stays in the fallopian tube for 3 days before entering the uterus and begins to implant to the uterine lining.

So I think they must be pretty darna ccurate as far as their timing...try not to worry! I think you are in good hands :hugs: How are you feeling?

WOW! Cool! I had no idea that the trip down the fallopian tube took only 3 days, I was under the impression that it took 4-6 days, and then implantation occurred immediately afterwards. I guess not. Well that totally makes sense now  Thank you for clearing that question up for me :happydance:

I'm doing OK.. much less bloated, :happydance: but the cramping and funky pains in my lady parts and around the ovaries is still quite uncomfortable. I keep waking up every 30-60 minutes too. That is annoying! :growlmad:

Have you been up all night too? We can console each other here, :haha:

OK back to sleep now, hopefully I'll stay that way for more than 30 minutes this time!

Ali: I'm excited to hear how the fertilization went. Fx'd!

Coy: You're getting really close!

AFM, I had my 7 DPO progesterone tested yesterday and, WTH, a blood pg test. The progesterone was 25, which the nurse just said was normal (doesn't she know I want more details...good/bad, etc?). Does anyone know about prog levels??? The pg test was negative. I'm still hoping that we're preggers this month. I had lots of cramping at 6-7 DPO; not sure if that means anything.

Wow, quite a journey you've been on Ali, I'm so excited, it must be quite a strange feeling knowing that your eggs are getting fertilised outside your body. I hope they manage to get all of them to fertilise, so you've got future options. Fingers crossed for you.

Coy, I hope your kiddies are starting to feel better now, I hate being ill, it doesn't happen very often, but when it does, I'm a miserable so and so! LOL!

I spoke to my Mum on the phone last night, she said that my sister went for a check up with her pill the other day and there was an issue, but when Mum asked her if she was pregnant, she said 'no', but we both have a feeling that she is. I'll talk to Sis tomorrow when I go for a visit, see if I can get a definite answer from her.

I've started packing my clothes for my holiday, we've just been food shopping, so we're nearly ready to head off Tuesday morning. We're just taking 4 days on a narrow (canal) boat, I think it'll be nice, getting away from the everyday stuff round here. Ian usually does the driving of the boat and I do the locks, but this time, I might try to do more driving as doing the locks really takes it out of you and if I happen to ovulate round that time, (finally), then I'll want to be careful.

I bet it seems I'm always going away, doesn't it? Well, with Ian's diving, sometimes it means that we stay a night or 2 somewhere. I think that'll slow down now the weather is getting cooler. He's helping with some new students on Sunday, but that quarry is only about an hour away, so he can drive there in the morning. I'm not going with him for that as he won't be diving, so I'll go visit my family instead, its ages since I've seen my Gran and its about time I gave her the opportunity to say "so who are you knitting for this time, is it for your baby?" or "You haven't lost any weight have you?" She's one of those that says what she thinks. She hates kids, but knows how much I want a baby, so she really wants it to happen for me. She often tells me how my kids will be better behaved than my sisters as we are very different people. LOL!

Well, nothing else to say really, still waiting for the ovulation to happen, its getting silly now, its CD44 today. Grrrrrrrrrrr! Talk about getting impatient!

:dust: :dust:

Hey ladies! Just checking in for a fast hello. Ali, I am so excited for the next step! I must admit I am learning a lot from following your journey. How are you feeling after? Maybe try a heating pad to help with pain and inflammation? I cannot wait to hear your BFP!

Coy, so happy you're not sick in a house of sicky people! I bet you go before October too! Are you slowing down these days?? Somehow I doubt that!

Jess, Terri hey ladies!

Afm, busy busy week at work after boss was let go. There is a lot going on but I can't share details just yet but there might be a better opportunity for all of us at another firm. AF should be done by tomorrow then off to poas on my opks. I am armed this time with CoQ10, baby aspirin, preseed and hopefully good bd timing. I got some good news/bad news this week. My brother who works as an iron worker on the Freedom Tower fell thru a hole that was larger than regulation and he hurt his back and is in a lot of pain. The good news is that a friend that had mc several times, is 40, and was told her eggs weren't good had IVF and is 13 weeks along with twins!!! I am so heppy for her as she was trying for 3yrs!

Off to run errands and beach although it's going to be cold. Hubs is adamant about getting to the beach!

Miss you ladies, hope everyone has a great weekend!

FirstTry,

A 7DPO progesterone test of 25 is perfect! You want it to be over 15 in a perfect world. Some Dr's hope for over 10. So at 25 it means you ovulated, and that you have enough right now to sustain a pregnancy. YAY! :happydance: They did an hCG for me at 7DPO too, and it was negative, and I ended up not getting pregnant that month. BUT, that doesn't mean that you aren't pregnant. It really depends on when you implant, and if you haven't implanted yet, then you won't have any hCG in your system.

 Ali

I'm officially 1DPO today!

I am still in quite a lot of pain, and most of it on the left side. I think my ovary on that side is a little upset, and when I woke up this morning I was in way more pain on that side then expecting. Once I managed to roll out of bed and pee, I felt better. Perhaps it was a full bladder riding up against a swollen ovary? IDK.

I got a call from the nurse to see how I was feeling. She mentioned that they may not call me until tomorrow :saywhat: I was like, nooooo you need to call me today to tell me how many embryos I have!

I poas this morning to see if the hCG was still in my system, see the pic below. It is still in my system.

Not much else to say today, just going to take it easy today, maybe get my laundry done and de-clutter the house. Then tomorrow I'll get out and do all the errands I have. Well unless I feel the need to take more percocet, as I don't have enough left, and will have to go fill the Rx they gave me yesterday. I'm hoping I don't need to do that, but then again, I may need to so I can sleep tonight.

How are all you ladies doing today?
