Welcome to 'Trying To Conceive Over 35'

Grey eyes-My Fx'd for you too. Did you have a D and C with your mc? Are your cycles back to normal? I have been ovulating but have been spotting for up to a week after my period ends. It's really annoying because I know it means my body is not back to normal. I am really hoping that this is our month! What cd are you? I am cd8 of 28

Philomena- Fx'd for you. It sounds very promising!!!

Grey eyes- yes I did have a D and C as my doctor said that a 12 week old fetus will not likely pass on it's own. I didn't have any signs of mc no bleeding or cramping just went for my 12 weeks nt scan and there was no hb. So sad without a doubt the saddest day of my life. I cried for weeks. The only thing that kept me going was the fact that I knew we were going to try again. I have ovulated every month since which I guess is twice now so that is a good sign but am getting frustrated. Of course it seems like everywhere I go or look I see pregnant women and babies! Sorry to hear that at showed up but you are only 6 days behind me so here we go!!!!

Grey eyes- Sorry to hear about your hubby's health problems. That makes things much harder for sure. Luckily my dh is always up for trying!! Stay positive it will happen they say. I am trying. Are you doing anything like acupuncture or herbs? I was doing acupuncture before the last pregnancy and I think it really helped. I started again last week so let's hope.... Keep me posted. I should be ovulating Fri or Sat so we'll see. Thanks for keeping Fx'd for me.

Philomena- Any news? have you tested. I sure hope you will tell us if you get your BFP

Hi Marathongirl! I did test this morning and got a BFN but it's still early to count it as reliable. My doc says that a neg can turn positive, but a positive is a positive.... so my AF is due on Thursday and I'm wondering if I should test every day this week, or just wait until Thursday... my symptoms are still the same, although my appetite seems to be recovering a bit.... Breasts are still incredibly sore!
I watched Betty White's Off Their Rockers tonight and it actually took my mind off of things I was laughing SO hard! She's a great way to while away the TWW!
My story? well.....
We moved into a house in late July and the previous owners had put in brand new carpet for us. The off-gassing was so bad, I actually missed three periods and was tired all the time. We thought I might be pregnant but tests came out Neg of course (we didn't know at first it was the carpets) - my doc even sent me for an U/S and a bloodtest it was so mysterious. Then my father in law suggested we get the carpets steam cleaned and miraculously the symptoms went away! I needed a round of progesterone to get my cycle started and had a long AF the first one and hardly anything the second... then have had two regular, spontaneous cycles since. Having that time of "well, we 'might' be pregnant" seemed to get us talking and decided to try for a baby of our own (my DD is from my previous relationship - she's almost 15 now!) So this month is the start of our trying and I am SO hoping! I am wishing baby dust for us all!

HI Philomena- Thanks for your story. I am always so interested in other stories. It's comforting to know that we are all in the same boat-waiting for that little miracle! As for testing I would wait until Thurs to test. I know it's sooo hard but I try not to test too early because I don't want the disappointment of the BFN. I have also had a couple of chemical pregnancies which are basically a BFP the day before your period is due followed by af 2 days later. It's all so frustrating as we can't control what are bodies are going to do. I know we will all have our BFP we just have to be patient and believe it's going to happen! Fx'd for you. Please let us know. I am going to visit my friend in the hospital today, she just had a baby girl Jan.15. I know I am going to cry when I see her. Good luck!!! Again please keep us posted.

Grey eyes- How are you? I scrolled back a few pages to see more about your story. I know you won't have any problem conceiving. You are young and healthy and have already had 2 babies.

Twist 5- How are you? Haven't heard from you for a while. What cd are you? Also can someone tell me how to put the cute little smiley faces and witches and stuff on your posts? Thanks I am still pretty new to posting on forums

Hi Grey eyes I am 42 but don't feel old at all. I am very healthy and have always kept myself in good shape with running. I like that your doc said that age has less to do with fertility than health. That keeps me feeling more positive. That's amazing that you got af back with herbs. I really believe that acupuncture and herbs can really help especially if you are a bit older like me. By the way I don't consider 36 or 37 old at all! My kids are 8 and 9 so I told them about the mc. They were sad but they felt better when I told them that we would keep trying until we had a baby. Well hopefully it will be soon for both of us. I am going to bd at least every second day for the next 6 days. Thinking about everyone and sending baby dust to all.

hi i am new to this posting. i just turned 36 last october my son is 13 and i am trying for #2. i did 2 cycles of clomid stopped and started another cycle. i got + on opt but bfn i was also tld that i have pcos early last year. i was at my gyne on last wednesday of my period and was told that i had 6 follicles in one ovary and 5 in the next which is along the edge of my ovary. i forget to ask my gyne this question and will like to know if anyone can help. i will like to know if it is still a good sign with 6 follicels at cd3? thank you

Hello All,
Well, no need to test tomorrow as AF decided to show up today! I am disappointed, but there is a small silver lining. I haven't been to a dentist in ages and my benefits started yesterday... so we decided to skip trying for the next cycle and I'm going to go see the dentist instead and get anything done that needs doing (yay benefits!) and then we will start trying again.... I will keep on the forums though, as I think this is a great source of support for me! Thanks you guys!
Philomena.

Philomena- Sorry that af showed up. I feel your sadness. We all just have to keep trying and believe and it will happen.:winkwink: Good luck with the dentist. Keep us posted with everything. You never know, sometimes not trying is a good thing!

We have been ttc for about 9 months with no luck. I'm almost 37, but as far as I know everything is still goin as it should.....(use ovulation testers) and am very regular still. I'm woundering how long I should try before I should really worry and see an md? I have a 16 year old, so I know it was possible, at one point at least...... very frustrated and tired of crying every month when it doesn't happen... ugh!

Welcome hoping- I'm sure it will happen:flower: I know how frustrating it is. I am 42 and also been trying about 7 months. I have had a MMC at 12 weeks and a chemical pregnancy right after that. Hoping we all get our BFP soon. You are still young as far as I'm concerned! Good luck!

Hi, I am also nearly 37. I had a mc in November and dh and I decided to just jump right back into it and ttc again asap. I have been doing a lot of study and try to ignore the statistics for our age group. My doctor examined me, did blood work, etc, and said I am extremely healthy and that seems to take over in the age factor--if you are healthy there is no reason why you shouldn't be able to concieve. There are a few factors that I have taken into consideration though, I have been trying to improve my chances.

One thing I took into account is caffeine consumption- from what I have studied caffeine impedes conception. All of the studies simply stated that there were groups of women- some drank caffeine some didn't, some got prego, some didn't:shrug:. However, I did found one study where scientists at Nevada University for Medicinal Health studied the effects of caffeine on conception. What they found is that caffeine does not inhibit fertilization so much as the path of the egg once it has been fertilized. In other words the fallopian tubes flex and sort of massage the egg up into the uterus for implantation after fertilization. What happens is caffeine impedes this flexing or movement to where the fallopian tubes just sort of sit there in a paralytic state (sort of). So the egg sits there too. W/O implantation it simply flushes out or implants into the tube which is dangerous and sometimes fatal. I figure if it impedes the process of the egg after fertilization, maybe it impedes its movement prior to fertilazation? I'd hate to have those :spermy: swimming around and no egg waiting...SO I have completely cut caffeine out of my diet except just before AF I may have cup or two of coffee :coffee:. Unfortunately caffeine is in all of my favorite things, chocolate, coca-cola, tea... LOL!

Thanks for the info Grey eyes. I have also cut out coffee but will eat a bit of chocolate sometimes.Do you think that the small amount of caffeine in chocolate would be detrimental?I eat milk chocolate which has less caffeine I think.:flower:

Marathongirl-

No, I don't think that has too much caffeine...what I have done is completely cut out any caffeine source about the time from end of AF to after I know I have not conceieved. I think that period of ovulation is important as that's when the egg "travels". Chocolate is pretty low in caffeine as far as I know. I just figured I would improve my chances...:shrug:LOL! Oh, also another interesting point of note- I read that women in Africa consume cassava as a main dietary staple, kind of like our potatoes...they eat it every day. In that particular region almost every pregnancy is a twin pregnancy. What studies have shown is that cassava causes hypo-ovulation--you release multiple eggs each month. Here's the funny thing- cassava is tapioca, or vise versa. Tapioca buds (just like in the pudding) are made of ground dried cassava root. So, ahem , I have started pigging out on tapioca pudding. I wouldn't mind twins! :hugs: Get my "big" family all at once lol!:haha:
Hmmmm......interesting about the cassava. I certainly wouldn't mind twins:thumbup: thanks for the info. Maybe I will stay away from the chocolate right now as I am about to o in the next couple of days. Wish me luck:winkwink:
