Welcome to 'Trying To Conceive Over 35'

Hello everyone,

I am 35 and 8 months. DH and I have been NP for 23 months now after coming off the nuvaring. I have been browsing different ttc sites now for about a month now. I still don't understand much about the whole process, charts and symptoms. I don't test much either.
Its nice to read the success stories and to see the hope that ladies have despite all they go through.
I am hoping to have some company and support on my journey, and also to be able to give back what I receive.

Yay! I can gve you all of my new-found information! LOL:haha: Here it is
(ahem)
So...5 days of period. 4 days of nothing (monitor cm). 6 days of fertility with day 4-5 representing peak. Last day of fertility is first day of 14-16 in luteal phase with the 14-16th day representing first day of period.

K, basically for about 4-6 days you should notice your cervical mucus (cm) should start to get stretchy. When you notice (yeah, I know- finger testing=bleh) that it is stretchy and kind of clear start dtd! This indicates your lh is starting to surge. When your LH surges it is trying to kick the egg out of its nest. Once it gets that done sperm has about 12-24 hours to fertalize it before it hitches a ride OUT (AF= period). So they say it helps to have sperm laying in wait for it when it pops out of the nest. After this cm should dry up right away and then you'll notice it comes back thick and sticky. This prevents conception pretty much. So stretchy like egg whites (ewcm) is perfect! Good luck and baby dust!:dust:

Let's hope the post comes out right. Not sure what I can and cannot post on this thread. Thank you Grey Eyes! AF did show up a couple of weeks ago. Might as well not have as it was light. Oh well, now in the 2 week wait. Will carry on reading the posts I have missed. Hope everyone is doing well.

I used to have very light AF's also, sometimes none at all which was very concerning! Is it possible your very light AF was implantation bleed? Not trying to get up any false hopes but I know that's what I would think. Of course I am always getting up my own false hopes! lol!
AFM, I decided to try bbt so this morning at 0600 I checked. It sat at 97.6:shrug:I am guessing that's normal....I should ovulate this week sometime and am testing with opk's. Bfn so far  but dh and I bd anyway, hopefully got some serious fighters in there :spermy: lol! I have this online fertility chart that I have tried to follow but it never seems to coincide with my cycle- I have managed to get it where it is within a few days as far as AF but always my ovulation is different according to my opk positive days. Sigh...oh well, wouldn't it be great if there was a book that had our cycles perfectly charted for us?! Yay, that'd be sooOOoo much easier :) So far today negative on opk, but tons of ewcm  sorry tmi but when you ladies post this info it helps me figure out my own cycle patterns. :hugs:

Grey eyes- sounds like you are on it this month. I am 1dpo today as my temp spiked from 97.6 to 98.0 You 97.6 seems pretty reasonable. I am usually 97.2-97.6 before o and over 98 after. You are probably right about the bding every other day but as I said I get a bit obsessed and think if I can sneak a few extra bd's in we will be set. I know my last BFP we bd'd every day for 4 leading up to o. I hope we both catch our little eggy this month!Keep me posted on your temps.

Wow, see I didn't know the spike would be that much! What a relief, here I thought I would have to scan for tiny little variations and I figured I'd be lost because of our natural variations in temp.:dohh: From what I am learning bbt'ing is a much more accurate way of determining actual ovulation day- and that combined with the opk's I feel like maybe I am a little more knowledgeable. Next time my doc asks me about my cycle I am totally gonna unload on him LOL!:haha:

Grey eyes- I think it's great to have that knowledge. I know for me it makes me feel like I'm more in control!Lol. At least I know what is going on with my cycles. For instance this month I had a temp spike to 97.8 before o but knew that i hadn't o'd because I hadn't had a pos on the opk yet. Next day was 97.6 and then spike to 98.0 which was today. I think it's a good thing to use the opk's and bbt. the opk gives you the heads up before o and the bbt just confirms that it actually happened. I tell you I have done so much research on my own I feel like I could be a FS!.On the note of exercise I can't imagine no cardio at all. I have decreased from running 60 miles a week to no running and alternating swimming with the eliptical at the gym about 45mins a day. I would be lost without my daily fix of endorphins

Grey eyes- I got pos opk on cd14 my temp was 97.8 which was a bit high-who knows. Then cd15 I ovulated and my temp was 97.6,today cd16 it spiked to 98.0. Usually you will see a drop in temp right before o,this month it didn't for me but in past months my lowest temp was day of o. I am also o'ing at least 1-2 days later since my mc. I'm not too worried as my lp is still 12-13 days. As for exercise I would go back to it. I was running 5 days a week when I got my last BFP!!

Hi Everyone,
So here I am approaching my fertile window. Getting close to O time and trying again! I was looking online and even though many sites say that trying every other day should keep the sperm count up, there is a line of thought that says maybe during the fertile window, more is better (but not more than once every 24 hrs).... last cycle we tried the every other day so this time we are going to try the every day... and tomorrow I start eating tapioca pudding (it might help with ovulation?) and Maca Root. It's always a gamble, and I try not to get too obsessed, but it's hard not to think about it all the time when we've finally decided for sure this is what we want!!
How is everyone else doing? Anyone else on CD6ish?

I agree with you. I usually try every second day after Af but around o we try every day. I am 2dpo or cd17 right now so in the tww.Yikes:wacko:
Good luck with catching your little eggy. I hope we get our BFP's this month:thumbup:

Hi everyone.

I'm a long time lurker on this site, finally joining a few days ago. I'm 37 and TTC for my second child. My son is 3 and the love of my life and you'd THINK I'd be happy with this.

But sadly, everyday I feel like someone is missing from my family. :(

Anyway, I had little problem falling pregnant with my son four years ago, however I had multiple miscarriages before he came along which was very stressful. At one point I thought I would never have a live baby. Now, however, I find myself in an entirely new boat where my husband and I can't seem to fall pregnant at all. We've been trying for a year with no result and I'm starting to lose hope. We're seeing a fertility specialist next week to start with testing and treatment, but I'm scared that this is age related and I'm just too late!!

It also doesn't help any that I know what it feels like to be pregnant, down to the last tweak and twinge. Unlike many women on here who spend two weeks wondering, I've been pregnant so many times I know immediately if it's worked, which I am finding to be infinitely worse. The hope dies very quickly. I knew this month that I had a chemical pregnancy, as right on cue I felt the signs of implantation around 5dpo as I do every pregnancy, and sure enough at 7dpo I had a very faint positive. My excitement kept me awake all night!

Two days later it was gone. :(

Today, I feel completely flat. Hopeless. Depleted. My period is due in a few days and I sit here knowing that another pregnancy didn't stick. I wish the :witch: would just hurry up and show so I can move to the next cycle and suffer this all over again. I suppose at least I saw something this cycle. Most cycles I see and feel nothing other than pms and that vast, white bfn.

Anyway, sorry for chewing your ears off. I'm very grateful for everyone on these forums. I have read so many of your journeys and cheered so many of you on to your bfps. Every time one of you falls pregnant, I feel hopeful again.

So thank you for that. :)

Grey eyes- that's a good question about fmu at 11 am. Maybe test closer to the later time you said like 2. I've never tried testing 2 times a day and have always been able to catch the surge. I hope you're getting lots of bd'ing in!! We are not that far apart as I'm cd17 and 2 dpo. Oh my trying to keep positive and calm. GL. Your bbt sounds really good. Let me know if you get a drop on the day you o

So sorry for your losses. I too have had 3 pregnancies in a row that haven't stuck, 2 chemicals and a MMC at 12 weeks. Each time I was pregnant I knew and would get excited only to be devastated when it was gone. I really thought the mc at 12 weeks was going to work out. I just try to stay positive and calm. Yeah right! Lol:wacko: I know we will get our BFP's soon! Baby dust
