Welcome to 'Trying To Conceive Over 35'

I cant wait to find out--you should be able to test in about a week and a half right?

AFM- stressing about dtd on time. Can sperm live 3-4 days in cervix w/ ewcm?

I know what you mean about stressing. I always seem to stress unless we bd every day during o even though I know that you can get your BFP dtd once if it's the right time:winkwink: I have to tell you that my last BFP we bd'd cd10-13 and I o'd cd15 but was away from dh on cd13 and 14.I was so stressed that we didn't have the right timing and then I finally decided I was out and not going to worry about it:wacko: Well around 10dpo I started to feel a bit different and sure enough:flower:

Grey eyes- Oh yeah to answer your question sperm can live for 3-4 days for sure!! I think I will test at 13dpo which is 8 days from now

Marathongirl-
Thanks so much! You gave me hope :) Well, we dtd only 3 times but all in the same week as ovulation, so it gives me something to look forward to!:haha: So I will check, maybe around dpo 10 or so just to see. That might be early but I am terrible at being patient!

Yay you get to check sooner than I do, hope you get your bfp!

WE have to stick together:flower: I know we will get our BFP's:thumbup: Just try to stay calm over the next few days as that little eggy needs a calm environment to attach to. I know easier said than done. I got really mad at Dh today so there goes that theory:dohh:

LOL! It's easy to get mad at dh's...it just doesn't stay that way for long! :) My dh and I watched the Dr. Oz program today on women concieving over 40....basically (in a nutshell) I gathered that women can continue concieving if they are healthy. Did you watch it? One "expert" made the comment that what we eat (junk) can age our eggs prematurely and all we need to do is eat and stay healthy to maintain healthy eggs. Yay! That's me!:haha: My dh is diabetic so I eat like a diabetic- super lean meats, very little sweets, no refined sugar, etc...plus I cut out the caffeien (super hard for me!). Plus doc told me that age isn't really a factor unless we're talking late 50's, menapause, etc. Phew! :)

Keepin' my fx'd for us both!:hugs:

Yay:happydance::happydance: I am very healthy as well. I might eat a bit of sugar but no caffeine and all organic produce and meats. I have always been in super physical shape as I've competed in running events most of my life. I know we can do it:thumbup:

I do too:thumbup: Age at this point isn't such a huge factor. I worry about it just because I can LOL!:haha: I think because my last pregnancy ended in a mc it causes me so much more stress...I mc'd in 2003 and stressed to high heaven but next (almost immediate) pregnancy was a success, and the one after.. So I try not too worry too much about that either (nearly impossible I know!)

Wow, you run alot! I never was one much for running, I love cycling, hiking, my dh has been teaching me martial arts and I absolutley love that! Plus I do free weights. I runa funny schedule...I wait until I put my kids to bed and then I do my work-outs:shrug: otherwise they are running circles around me and I can't concentrate lol.

So tomorrow I will see if there is a temp shift. I am guessing that I should be looking at anything between .5 and 1.?

Hi Ladies!
I watched the Dr.Oz show today, too, and found it didn't really give me any NEW insights...
There was a lot of unnecessary fear-mongering (my mom was 40 when she had me and 47 when she died and so older moms always end up having someone else raise their kid)... I thought that was a little much... in our society the average woman can expect to live to 80 or longer.... the girl never said what her mom died of. I was sad for her, but it is unreasonable to say that every older mom will die and leave her kids to be raised by others.
Hrmph.... maybe I'm feeling a little catty since I am annoyed with the OPK's right now.
So the Clearblue digital monitor is still on 2 bars (no surprise) but the First Response was looking promising. I got three sticks over a day and a half that had lines which were 'almost' as dark as the tester line. I figured I am about to ovulate... just waiting on the line to be 'as dark' or darker than the tester line... and the last one is back to being barely there light. do I have an issue with LH? maybe that's my problem? it doesn't surge enough? I guess I keep on with the temping and see if it goes up to indicate I have, indeed, ovulated. If it continues to sit at about the same temp, then it's reasonable to think I may not have ovulated this cycle, right? Any thoughts?

Marathongirl, fx crossed for you! it sounds promising!
and Grey Eyes, you'd be surprised how long those little swimmers can last sometimes! Fx for you, too!

I would say that you should see a rise of .4 or more after o. Let me know.:flower:

Sometimes the tests strip brands show differently which is infuriating!:hissy: The best that I have found is using Clearblue Easy digital opk and First REsponse digital...they are not too much more expensive and they give you the added benefit of a whole lot less stress! When comparing lines you may notice a swing upward toward your surge (miss your surge) then a swing down from your surge again. So I am wondering if you simply missed the peak hour and caught your surge on its way up and down. I have done that. I love the CBE and FR digitals because they only tell me my peaking hours- that way I don't stress over possibly having missed it. How many times a day do you test? I try to empty my bladder about 930 or 10 am then if I drink anything it's only one mug of something (non-caffeine) then "hold it" until about 2 pm. Then I test. Then I drink something and hold it until about 5 pm or so. Then I test again. Of course everyone follows their own method but I have always caught my surge this way. What cd are you??

okay, now I am really getting frustrated! I checked my temp first thing at 630 this morning and it sat (drumroll) at 97.5. What the heck?! I thought it was supposed to rise....now I have to worry that I am not ovulating...is it supposed to rise exactly the day after? I'm going to have to research this some more.:growlmad:

When do you notice the shift up?

On a positive note dh and I dtd last night, so maybe:shrug:

Grey eyes- It can take 2 days for your bbt to rise. I know the cycle I got my BFP it took a couple of days to rise. Don't worry it should rise tomorrow. That's great that you were able to dtd last night! Fx'd for both of us.
AFM- I Am feeling really tired today even though I had a pretty good sleep last night. My bb's are sore and that's about it. By the way are your bb's still bigger from your last pregnancy that you mc'd? Mine definitely are.

Nope, I am a serious A-minus in the bb department! LOL! When I am nursing I edge up to a B cup IF I'm lucky:rofl:
Thanks for the heads-up on temping! Phew! Thought I had something else to stress about!LOL...onto tomorrow morning.........

Grey eyes- also with the bbt it depends when you really o because it can take up to 36 hours after you get a pos opk and then it can take up to 24 hours for your bbt to rise so technically that's 2-3 days if you add 36 and 24 hours. Let me know what you get tomorrow!

Wow, all great info, thanks! I took another digital test yesterday and it was negative...but I took a internet cheapie test strip (very thin and hard to read) tonight and it looked positive to me:shrug:, I hope LH is not having trouble getting the egg out...honestly I think it is probably just the down hill of my lh levels registering. If I don't get a temp spike tomorrow I will try another digital test just to see.

Oh, and I am having a "fat" day lol! I am bloated feeling with mild ovarian discomfort. I read somewhere that bloat is a symptom of ovulation so I hope that's it! THAT or I am just a fatsy today lol! :haha: Wondering if I do ovulate tonight if I ams till in the game with the bd'ing of last night? Should be...

How have you been feeling?

I'm feeling positive. I have many friends that believe in the law of attraction. The "ask and you shall receive" theory. I am slowly trying to change my way of thinking but also knowing that it may not happen this cycle. I do believe we will all get our BFP's.
Did you gain any weight with your last BFP? I didn't really gain weight but my body put on a layer of fat on my tummy even though it only lasted 3 months. I feel kinds fat too but I'm not going to worry about it. Lol. I have always been very fit and lean so it's a bit hard for me.

Wow, yeah, last summer I was toned and fit and hard and now I have a small little fat layer just on my tummy. It drives me crazy LOL! And it's impossible to lose without some serious cardio and crunching. But both of my doctors told me that it is better to not lose any more weight than I already have. I pretty much lost any prego weight that I had gained, just about 5 pounds or so. I am so used to being toned and hard I love that feeling! but I decided I can put my wants and preferences on hold until BFP becomes baby in my arms :) Then I'll work out like crazy and drink coffee again:cloud9:lol!

I too am trying to stay positive. Tough time tonight however, as I was tucking my little girls in my 7 year old started quizzing my on the baby. :( I told her that baby hadn't started growing yet - I haven't had the heart to tell her it had stopped growing. I am keeping my fx'd for a bfp so that they'll have another sybling- they were so much looking forward to it! Honestly I am trying to focus more on my future baby and it is sometimes hard not to think about the one that I lost. So in order to stay positive I focus ahead, because I think you are right- staying positive about this is sooOOoo important!

Yes, positivity and an open heart will work wonders for us all! Marathongirl, it's still looking good for you! I have my fingers crossed!
Grey Eyes, my DH gets up at 4 every morning to go to work, so I was opk testing at 4:30am and 4:30 pm with the First Response strips and at 12:30 with the clearblue digital monitor. I haven't been drinking too much either, but maybe I'm too dehydrated now? Or maybe the day I got the "almost" as dark tests really were the surge? *sigh* they were really close... maybe my LH surge is not at the average level as most women? so many questions... as for temping, I noticed a dip in temp yesterday morning and a rise again this morning. The reading I did said that if it continues to rise (or stay high) for the next three days that that could indicate ovulation. That a dip right before can be a normal thing. I am feeling worn out this cycle... so much work. I almost want to take a break for a month and do none of it.
I say that today, but by the time my AF comes, I'll be ready to go again for the next round!
I tried to talk to DH tonight about my confusion regarding the opk tests and he was so clueless. He is great about 'trying' but has no interest in understanding everything that is going into getting it done!
Thanks for listening to me whinge.... I really do appreciate the responses and I do read all the posts! Sometimes my questions are answered because someone else has asked and gotten a response.
Thanks so much ladies!
Phil.
