Welcome to 'Trying To Conceive Over 35'

Hello Ladies :hi:

Sam:wohoo: That is awesome! I also had 10 eggs on my first retrieval. You should be proud! I am looking forward to hear your updates on fertilization and how your embies are doing! I bet you can't wait till your trasfer on Sunday!!
Dh had issues with collection our first cycle too. Us ladies have the tough job of getting put to sleep etc and all they have to do is provide a little sample naturally. My dh said the same thing as yours that he didnt want to go beforehand and have to look at dirty magazines etc in a little room so opted for the same morning since we are less than an hour from the lab. I was worried cuz I know he is NOT a morning person. Well just as I thought, he wouldn't wake up and we were going to be late. When I finally got him awake iykwim (tmi alert!) he had spillage and only a little ended up in the collection cup. I scolded him for trying to scoop them back into the cup that he would damage the :spermy: The second cycle I was ready with one of those special condoms for collection and we bd'd and I had my :spermy: in no time

Angel You must be on :cloud9: Especially with such strong lines on your hpt! I was worrried because mine were so faint. Now I'm even more worried that the doctor is disregarding any previous betas and only going by my lmp and the sono (measuring 1 week behind). She said at this point they should be seeing a fetal pole on sono and was very negative when I ;ast talked with her.

That is wonderful that you already have 2 job possibilities lined up  This really is your month! :happydance:

Ali I am sorry to hear you are ill. That juice cleanse will help you feel so much better. Great timing that you decided to do it this weekend

Coy Did the u/s reveal a kidney stone for your dh? I hope not as I have had 2 and it is very painful and I have heard even more so for men. One tip I can give you is let him drink lots of lemon juice. The first stone I passed in 2009 was so painful, but in 2010, the same month I got pregnant I saw on youtube that lemon juice helps break it up. It worked and I passed it as little fragments. 12 lemons I juiced and I drank 1 ounce every hour with a glass of water. I found it easier to drink the lemon like a shot and then the water behind it. It really works!

Twiggers your chart is looking great  8 dpo :happydance:

Philomena please post some photos of your baby shower. Your beautiful baby girl must have grown so much!

Jess where are you? We miss you :sadangel:

AFM-Well the nurse never phoned me with my results and I had the blood test done at 7:30 yesterday morning. So I phoned the lab and they said it takes 48 hours before the results reach the doctor. It has been more than 48 hours!! The first blood test I had done on a thursday (Valentin'es) night and they phoned me on Saturday afternoon. But this time it is going to my doctor so she may not phone me until Monday. :growlmad: The OBGYN said she wasnt using the hcg numbers from Barbados because she didnt think they would be accurate. She must be one of those stupid people who thinks that it is a tiny backward island! I can tell you it is alot more modern than Maryland lol Here the houses are from the 60's and we often lose power and water during a storm. I could not get hold of the nurse last Sunday. That is why I ended up going to the hospital!! In Barbados I got my lab results within 24 hours so I guess they have a better system there!

Update! Nurse just phoned me and said my hcg numbers had doubled from beta on 3rd March which was 3329 to 7th March 6637.:happydance: She said that to her it seemed normal for 5 weeks 6 days. Phew! I asked her if she thought it was strange that I was measuring a week behind and she replied no and not to worry everything is doubling perfectly in her opinion. She said the sono next Friday will give us a clear picture. She is so nice compared to the doctor. She said the doctor will be phoning me but I don't want to talk with her. She is too negative.

So that would mean that I got my bfp at just 3 weeks pregnant. That is pretty young to be travelling :haha:

Thanks Chantal.. I'm supposed to be taking today off.. unfortunately I am working a little bit. Bad Ali! I think I will go lie down in a bit. I'm not going to pick up my juice cleanse today since I'm sick and don't want to drive 25 mins each way to get it. I will do it tomorrow, or even Sunday morning.

I do think that getting onto this diet and doing the cleanse will do wonders for me. Hopefully all the fruit and vegetables in the cleanse will give my immune system a boost! Funny that I want an immune boost when I'm supposed to have these NK cells fighting everything!

I'm surprised they don't have your results yet? :growlmad::shrug: That is nutty, when I had a BETA done at my GP's office they did the blood draw at 9ish and his nurse was calling me around 5 the same day! So either your OBGYN is using the SLOWEST lab in the land, or they are sitting on it. I know that my FS's nurses are not allowed to release the information until the Dr has seen the results. So that could be it. As for not using your Barbados test, I think they try to use the same lab as each lab has a different method of testing so to get an accurate doubling time they have to send it to the same lab. So I wouldn't ignore your Barbados test, but the comparison for doubling may not be exact with that test.

Coy - I hope your DH is doing OK!

Everyone else.. HI :hi:

Yipee Chantal, so pleased for you! It will depend when you ovulated so don't worry if bubs is a tad small. I'm always at least a week behind in all my pregnancies, mainly because I ovulate later. With my DS i measured 10 days behind until i was about 6 months gone.

That news has made my weekend xo

Thank-you Angel. That is reassuring :hugs: What were the results of your beta this pregnancy? I ovulated on cycle day 16 which is a little late, only because I had positive opk's 3 days in a row. Had a stubborn egg! I suppose it would make sense that I was barely 3 weeks when I got my first positive since beta was only 35. That would make me 6 weeks 1 day today which is consistent with the sonogram.

How are you feeling? Give us an update please :) I bet your dh figures out you are pregnant this weekend :winkwink:

Ali you were right. :thumbup:The nurse said she wasn't supposed to release the results to me until the doctor had seen them. She is obviously too busy. I told the nurse I was anxious and she ended up telling me.

YIPEE!!! :wohoo: :yipee: what amazing news! :happydance: :headspin: Awesome!! So happy for you!

My RMC clinic didn't even suggest a beta when I rang on Wednesday:shrug:. I was a bit surprised but at the same stage it stressed me so much last time it might not be a bad thing that I don't get one. If my symptoms don't get stronger in the next 10 days i think I will request them.

I've been feeling nauseous and have the sensitive tingly nipple thing going on:blush:. I'm 5 weeks today but bet im only measuring just about 4wks 3days according to when i ovulated which was cd19. It' going to be a long few weeks

xo

And yeah DH is suspicious alright, i kind of feel guilty a bit not telling him, it might also backfire and he'll be upset i didn't.

I would have never had beta results done after Barbados had it not been for the bleeding on Sunday. You are right it does stress us out. Wow you are already having nausea? That is a good sign! WIth me it's just sore breasts (only at night and when I first wake up)and feeling tired. I am so happy to have a symptom swap buddy Angel :hugs:

Chantal- Yay! :wohoo: So happy for you!! Told ya so!:winkwink:lol.....I bet you are on :cloud9: right now. And hey- if that doc os too negative--ditch her  Nobody needs that then have to pay for it to :growlmad:

Sam- wow, how stressful! But perfect 10 eggs! Superwoman:hugs: Yeah, if dh has low-t-no then could be why no bfp recently. Well FS can pick and choose in this situation so Yay! Can't wait!!!

Ali- time to rest and knock this sick out  You want I should come over like Angel said :trouble: lol

AFM- dh doesn't have kidney stones...have any of you read of the parotid gland? It is right behind each ear/jawline. It has a small opening on the inside that secretes sal;iva to aid in food digestion. Sometimes small stones form in these glands and the gland swells and infects. Pain from hell :nope: Anyway he has stones on one side but the other gland is massively swollen so doc is worried. They'll perform an u/s to make sure. They may have to do surgery...if the gland bursts doc says you can die w/in minutes!:saywhat: Here is a short clip that "says it all"

https://www.parotid.net/sialendoscopy.php#sialendoscopy

Yikes! Right? Anyway, I am stressed out. He may have to be hospitalized  and his doctor chooses NOW to travel to Ecuador!!:saywhat:

Ah...I am feeling frumpy AND dumpy :nope: and am going to stop measuring as my waist size fluctuates :sad1: and gets me all depressed. Today I have no makeup, wearing a black T with frayed jeans and boots. Makes my dumpy feeling even worse :haha: Plus I need to wash my hair.........maybe I should color it? Just for perks?

I would like to put my ticker back up but do I use my lmp or sonogram's measurements?

Hm...good question! I would maybe go w/sono for now because there can be a few days error in judging egg release and fertilzation, travel, etc. What do you think? Sono's aren't perfect tho! You may have to just do a simple adjust on your ticker later :winkwink:

Why would I feel bloated? I haven't bee eating alot and very little salt...maybe just tired w/water retention? Ugh.

Maybe I should buy some salty chips and beer and just dive in :laugh2:
Nah, I won't :winkwink:

Coy those look exactly like the stones I had in my thyroid. They removed them but also had to end up removing the tonsils too. Strange how I thought it was your daughter who had it and it is your dh! But his aren't in the tonsils but under the jaw between the tongue and gums it seems? Looks like those stones can occur any place in the mouth. Don't worry Coy he will be fine after they remove the stones :hugs:

I think that you deserve a beer with all the stress you have been under Coy!!
Yes colouring your hair would definately make you feel better. Always works for me though I will probably let my grays show now. Luckily I coloured it the week before my bfp.

WOW! I went to lie down and all sorts of chatting! It's amazing we have 2 pregnancies! :wohoo: How many days apart are you? When do you get to figure out your due dates? OMG!

Chantal - my hair needs coloring too, I'm so very grey now :sadangel: I hear that at Aveda you can get color that is natural and won't harm the baby? I think it's a henna product? I'm going to look into this option. See if it's ok.

I'm in bed, was unable to concentrate on work and was feeling crappy. Being horizontal was much better!

Coy - EEK! Those stones sound horrible. Well get your DH in so he can start feeling better. I'm thinking stress is causing you to be bloated and out of sorts. Drink your beer and relax a little you need it! Or better yet come see me! The weather is perfect!

Well dh has stones in the parotid gland but his tonsils were removed years ago --as a little boy he got in an accident and they had to remove tonsils AND adam's apple SCARY! Anyway the dd's are sick with this throat thing that inflames thier tonsils. I am wondering if it's the same thing but attacked his parotid as his tonsils are gone?

Hey, I'd love to come to Florida AND have a beer! :haha: LOL!

Yep, I am going to olor my hair...just espresso again but cover up these darned greys :haha: I had a protein shake and am feeling better, just really tired?? Weird, my eyes feel like they are going to pop out from pressure, I think it's stress  Dh left half hour ago, he should be back soon 8-[ He is so worried about having to stay in the hospital, he takes being our protector very seriously and he's worried how our neighbors might act once they find out he's in hospital-if he has to be hospitalized iykwim. Aargh. Dumb neighbors :growlmad:

Well I don't think he has to worry about the neighbors too much! You will be there! :ninja: to kick their butts! Have you had your house looked at? It could be mould? It can make you really sick.
