Welcome to 'Trying To Conceive Over 35'

Angel how did you tell your dh your wonderful news?

I bet he was amazed!

Hughes syndrome is a blood clotting issue correct? Have you ever had a vein throbbing under your foot? I have had this in my right foot since a few days after I found out I was pregnant. Dh was worried it was thrombosis. Another thing I did differently this month is baby aspirin.

Hi Never, good luck for your beta results today, I so hope they have at least doubled:hugs:

Well funny you ask about telling DH, as I havent told him!:wacko: The thing is after so many MCs my DH is finding this journey quite difficult so after my 6th MC in September 12 I agreed with him that I wouldnt tell him until I was a bit further down the line so he wouldnt have to worry so much. So I'll probably be relying on support from BnB in the meantime.

On one hand it seems a little crazy, like I dont know how I'm going to be able to hide it especially as I'm taking daily clexane injections and they bruise the belly slightly. Plus I am nauseous and tired already but I can probably feign stress about leaving work today for a couple of weeks. After that I've no plan! Plus getting a few quiet private moments to take my daily jag may prove interesting in the mornings. And the no glass of wine at the weekend may or may not get noticed:dohh:

As I'm also leaving work today and I have nothing else secured (redundancy) I don't want him to start panicking about the timing issue. This was his main concern and it took a very gentle persuasion technique to get him to even agree to NTNP for a few months a couple of weeks ago. Little did I imagine I would be blessed on our first go, he would be in extreme shock!!!!:haha:

I'm planning to see how I go over the next few days and take it from there, at least I dont have to put a brave face on in work this time, I can quietly feel rotten at home while trying to look for work:winkwink:

How are you feeling?

Sam... Good luck for today, thinking of you:flower: Looking forward to hearing all about it.

Ali.... your meal plan does sound like a good idea when you look at your other costs, plus my tummy was rumbling while I was reading it

Coy, how is your DH and DD? I love Poison, they were one of my favourite bands in my teenage years. I laughed out loud when i read your description about fixing your bumper:haha:

Wow Angel I am amazed how strong you are that you can keep such a big secret from your dh! I couldn't wait for dh to get home and I had stuck a note in a cupcake saying "we're pregnant" but I couldn't even wait till after dinner. Like you said though yours will probably notice the bruising on your belly. He will be so shocked when you tell him! I hope you decide to tell him soon! The suspense is killing me :haha: You can count on us for support and tell us every symptom :)

At the hospital I got my beta back after a couple hours but since I had it done at a lab I will probably not get a call from the nurse until tomorrow. I am soooo sleepy, can hardly keep my eyes open as I type this and feeling hungry already though I had a big breakfast just a couple hours ago. When I saw your post Angel I had to respond. Bed is calling me lol

Chantal

Hi ladies!

Chantal- fx'd for awesome results on your beta :winkwink: Go ahead and sleep.......the first weeks of pregnancy are soOoo exhausting! It drains you. Glad you are able to eat right now

Angel- what is clexane??? Not sure I've heard of it. I agree with you- bnb has been a great support. I mean, I relied on dh for alot of support but having other ladies who've gone through what I have helps, iykwim. We're here for you! :hugs: And I think its awesome you'll have the time at home and not have to stress privately at work

Ali- where are you??

Sam- how'd the ER go? I can't wait to hear how you are doing!!

AFM
- well, we got the gate fixed, sort of. It hangs funny. I am thinking of using the truck to gently ram it back straight again.....:haha: Dh is scheduled for an u/s today so doc can get a lok at his parotid glands (right behind the ear). Apparently stones can form and cause pain and swelling, which dh has plus infection  If there are stones he'll have to have minor surgery next day or so:argh: Doc is even saying possible 4 week stay in hospital! :saywhat: for iv antibiotics! arfg!

Hey..

Sorry.. busy day.. between flooring people, meetings, cleaning lady and electrician, and trying to actually get work done, I haven't had a chance to really comment yet today. Plus last night took me about an hour to get home and after that I just crashed.

I think I'm coming down with something again, achy lungs, runny nose and just generally feeling icky  ARGH. At least I'm at home today!

Coy - get your DH to the hospital.. drag him there if you have to! He is only going to make himself worse by staying home. :growlmad: MEN!

Chantal - I hope your BETA doubles, can't wait to hear!!!

Angel - HEHE.. can't believe you have been able to contain yourself, but I understand why. Hopefully things will go well, and you can tell him soon!  for it being your last day. Maybe this happened for a reason? So you can be home while you are pregnant? Maybe?

Sams - how did ER day go? How are you feeling? I hope you are doing well..

Chantal... I hope you get a good sleep, I'm heading there soon myself.

Coy... I hope your DH's U/S goes well, do let us know. I'm sure you are just wanting some answers now so he can get better. Clexane is a form of heparin to thin my blood. I'm to inject 40mg daily until birth. In addition, I taking low dose aspirin, high dose folic acid, pregnacare conception multi-vitamins, high dose Vit d and Omega 3.

All being well I will have to have a planned birth due to the clexane. I think they wean you off it 2-3 days before birth and then induce you to lower any last minute clotting risks. I'll find out more if I make it past the 1st trimester with this bean.

Yes, where is everybody else?

Fingers crossed for your beta results Chantal, I'll be stalking tomorrow afternoon (GMT). Your symptoms are good signs xo

Hey Ali!! Sounds like a busy day alright, I hope you can relax tonight? Do you think that with all your treatments going on your immune system is maybe a little low and that's why you are catching more things?

Coy... I forgot to add glad you got the fence fixed. I once took out a wall reversing a dumper truck for my brother years ago!:haha: In my defence the dumper was stuck in third gear so when you put it into reverse it took off:haha:

And my suspicions have been confirmed already. At dinner this evening I didnt take a glass of wine with the Indian I made so DH was giving me the inquisition followed by 'are we wise TTC with everything going on at the moment':growlmad: FFS!!! I don't know how long I am going to be able to avoid telling him but I really cant face listening to his moaning while I have enough stress on my plate:growlmad: . Sorry, just a bit confused and down now, fecking men change their minds more often than their socks. I just replied it takes 2 and avoided answering anything else.

OMG- men! Tell me about it! If he thinks (thought :haha: ) you should wait keep his pants on  lol! Aaargh! Don't worry! Just tell him the wine hasn't been sitting well on your tummy or something. Or tell him now you're not working you've become a day drinker and had your fill :laugh2:

Lol, that's a great excuse Coy, I've even considered googling excuses!!!!!!!!

And yeah I so agree, you dont want the baby (he does really) why did you not keep your pants on:growlmad::haha:

I hope you are doing well after your ER Sam.

Coy you crack me up! Day drinker  too funny!

I went to the lab to get my blood drawn at 7:30 this morning hoping I would get results today but no such luck. I have to wait till tomorrow.

Watching the movie Prometheus. Just finished giving dh a haircut with the shaver. Since I had a nap this afternoon might be able to keep my eyes open now that I am sitting on the couch. :haha: Hope you ladies have a good night .

Ladies!!!! You know how to make a girl feel special:hugs:

It went fine. Really nervewracking. I asked the doctor if I was going to the electric chair... its really not a chair, but they strap you in. It went great. They say they retrieved 10 eggs from my left. They are going to call me tomorrow and let me know what was good and what was not, but they said 10.

We did have a stressful moment though, that almost lead me to tears, but I couldn't show it. DH first sample had no to low sperm count. So he had to do it again. :nope: Well thank goodness it worked the second time, but what an hour. The thought of having gone through all of that and God didn't want it to happen anyway. Now I understand part of the problem. It's not only me and apparently my DH needs increased :sex: to produce! Meanwhile he had saved it up for today. Well that backfired. They did ICSI because of the situation. Hope it works.:shrug:

I came out fine...and went to the diner and had eggs and hash brown, came home and passed out all day. I woke up sweating, got myself together and I am on my feet. I feel fine.. Soreness in my left ovary, but all its good. I thought about you ladies all day!

So I'll let you know how it went when they call me tomorrow.:hug::hug:

SSSAAAAMMMMMMMMMM!!

Sams! YIPEE!!! :yipee: :wohoo: that is a great showing! Can't wait to hear how many fertilized! Glad your DH was able to perform the second time! WHEW!

So then ET is on Sunday? I think that is 3 days past ER.

I'm seriously contemplating taking a sick day tomorrow, my lungs are so heavy feeling and achy. I can breath just fine although it hurts when I take a deep breath, and I don't have a cough  I just don't get what it is?

Alicatt. Yes ET on sunday! I keep asking DH what happened and he said that he gave a second sample and the embriologist didnt come back out so he assumes it was fine. I told him dont assume anything. I am a little worried about it. While i was dozing off the doctor said we are doing full icsi. I was like darn. :nope: I hope it was alright. I told dh last week to give a sample just in case and he said it wouldnt be a problem and I just didnt know what to say when the doctor said you had no or low sperm count. I could have just screamed, but I didnt.

Feel better! Sounds like you may have a cold coming. Lots of soup and rest. It snowing here and i have to get to work.

Sam, thanks for the update, and what a great count of eggs. Fingers crossed loads of them are good and fertilize! Try not to worry about your DH's:spermy:, remember there will should be thousands, if not millions in the second attempt.

I only learnt that it's bad to store up :spermy: a couple of years ago, DH had the same perspective as yours but he wasnt complaining when we were advised the opposite!:winkwink::haha:

Ali... yes you are definitely coming down with something again, if I were you I would take a sick day and try and get some quality R+R with your 4-legged brood :hugs::flower:

Coy.... how did DH's u/s go? And how is your gorgeous Aeryn?

Chantal...good luck for your beta results this morning :hugs:

Phil... one handed typing is so frustrating, I did it for months as well, a reall bummer when you spelt something wrong!!!!!!:haha:

Jess..... WE MISS YOU:flower:

xoxo

Angel. Thanks the encouragement. Fingers crossed

Chantal. Having bet tested today. Woohooooooooo. Good luck! :happydance::happydance::happydance:

Sams - you are a trooper going to work a day after ER and in a snowstorm! I was in bed for the 2 days after mine first one, but I had a mild case of OHSS. I think I told you before that the FS's like to see 15 good eggs which means about 15-20 eggs are harvested. So your one ovary did just fine! As for ICSI, I did full ICSI each time, and its a good thing not a bad. They probably did it because 1) you had only 10 eggs, and 2) your DH's sperm may have been a little suspect. So this will up your odds of getting a good fertilization rate, and seeing lots of good embryos developing.

Chantal - [-o< that your BETA is doubling! I hope that everything goes well today!

Coy - I must not have read your post entirely yesterday. What is this about an U/S? Hospital stuff for your DH? Don't let him just :ignore: this, he needs to take care of his health!!!

Angel - thanks for worrying about me. I did just email my boss to tell him I was taking the day off. I woke up and feel slightly better as my chest isn't full and heavy, but it could be the meds I took at 3am that helped with that. So I'm going to take it easy and sleep in, then maybe do a little work this afternoon. I have a deadline for a project that I can't miss, plus my brain is tuning the code in my head whether I'm working or not. So I need to get it down on paper before I go  :haha:

I also need to get down to Boca to pick up the juice cleanse by 6pm, so I might get up do that, then work. That way I won't have to fight rush hour. So that is my plan for today.

How are you feeling? Isn't today your first day of freedom? What do you plan to do with yourself? How is the bean?

Ali, glad you are taking the day off. Get your messages done, those thoughts on paper and then RELAX (those are orders or I'll ask Coy to come after you:winkwink::grr::rofl:).

First day of freedom :happydance:, I've been on a high since yesterday evening and have spent too much of my time on here:blush::haha:. This morning I left DS off at the childminder, went for a run, showered, did a few DIY jobs around the house and I'm currently eating lunch. I've a job application to finish today and I got 2 pieces of good news in the post this morning and I have been shortlisted for assessments for 2 possible jobs:happydance:.

But because I'm on a high and energised I'm feeling a little stressed about my little bean in there. I do feel nauseous here and there and I know it's still very early days so symptoms are always mild at this stage, but of course I can't help worrying. I fear my belly is going to look like a pin cushion in a few weeks with these injections, I bet DH knows before the weekend is out:dohh:

Sam and Chantal, patiently waiting updates.....
