Welcome to 'Trying To Conceive Over 35'

Ladies, hello! :hi: I've been a bit out of the loop for a few days so spent some tie catching up on your posts

Melly- Yes, cassava rocks! :haha: PUDDING lol...funny, as soon as I started taking it I got preggo  so of course, I recommend it!

Ali- I demand that the witch :witch: come !! :growlmad:

Phil- love the typing one-handed! I have gotten pretty darn good at it :winkwink:

Chantal- are you still feeling the super-tired??

Angel- :hugs: how are you feeling?

SAMS!!! Where are you??

Quick update: I did something to my ribs again, not exactly broken but I aggravated the broken spot iykwim...anyway I sneezed and almost passed out :laugh2: lol...Then I had these horrific muscle spasms around the rib that was enough to cross my eyes :haha: I figured out if I got the muscles to relax things were better...so have spent the last couple of days TRYING to take it easy. I still cut wood and stuff but I do it the slow way instead of banging the hell out of it with my hammers and axes! I use the log splitter

Then dh's stupid infection is not getting better...by all appearances it seems to be getting worse? so doc is talking maybe a diff antibiotic regiment.

Ah, but one good thing- I finally got to rent Skyfall :cloud9: Nothing like a great Bond movie! Then last night I chilled with a glass of wine :wine: and read out of a great book for a while after the kids were asleep :cloud9:

Coy you have been working too hard! Especially now with your dh sick, taking care of him and 3 children! I know your body is strong physically but remember you are still a woman. You need to take it easy on yourself. Banging the hell out of the wood probably did cause the muscel spasms you have been feeling. I am concerned for you. Please take it easy!
Don't worry you are still supermom/wife! take care of you sweetie :hugs:
So glad you got to see Skyfall! Such an awesome movie!!

Yes I am still super tired! I made a smoothie for dh and turkey bacon and eggs for me this morning. Let it digest, went back to bed and woke up again at half past noon!! :haha: Was having some crazy dreams but not nightmares so I feel rested
Tomorrow is my ultrasound and sonogram. Praying that we see the fetal pole and heartbeat! [-o<
I haven't had a beta since last thursday so hoping my numbers have been doubling. I weighed myself and I am down 2 pounds? 94 pounds doesn't seem right for 7-8 weeks pregnant. I have been eating alot but mostly proteins, veggies and lots of fruits and nuts.. Gluten-free Pasta and bread to do not appeal to at all so eating quinoa instead. Three ears ago I put on 5 pounds during the 9 weeks I was pregnant.

Angel how are you feeling? Did you tell your dh yet? The sono tech said that the bleeding I had 3rd March was caused by a small adjacent bleed next to my placenta. She said it could either be a clot, a small tear, or separation from uterine wall. It healed within 2 days. That is why I continued taking the aspirin because I thought that it might have helped get rid of the clot but from what you said it doesn't do that without the lovenox.

Chantal the aspirin will help and it probably was a good idea to do what you did. In my mind it would help clear the clot and also help further implantation. It's just a very mild form of a blood thinner so for ladies with very sticky or clotty blood it isn't enough.

DH still doesnt know!!!!!!:haha: One minute I'm pretty positive the next feeling not as I just feel normal but I need to keep reminding myself it's early days etc. I think I can avoid the subject for another few days as DH's and my schedules mean we wont see each other much. I still trying to figure out a way of telling him without him freaking out about the timing. I have a couple of job assessments and hopefully an interview (fingers crossed) so I'm secretly hoping I can have a double celebration in the next couple of weeks, a new job and a BFP:thumbup:

How are you?

Ali, Coy, Sam, Phil - hi ladies. I'm off out and will be back on later, it's probably still early where you all are xo

Angel thank-you for all the advice on blood clots. I think that you should tell your dh! Who cares if he freaks out? LOL It takes 2 to make a baby and he needs to be there for support. I understand that you would like a double celebration though. That would be so cool. If you can stand the suspense. I know I wouldn't. I could barely wait for dh to get home so I could spill the beans!

COY!!! Glad you finally got some time to relax! You need and deserve it! GEESH Woman! I hope your ribs heal, and that you get your DH healing too. That must be stressful enough on its own. EEK!

AFM - AF is being annoying, and has not come yet. :growlmad: She is being a PITA, and I do not like PITAs. I know she is near because I started crying for no good reason last night. OK, well it was a good reason (kids with cancer on the TV) but not something I would normally start bawling  about, ya know? Sure I would feel sad, but that wouldn't normally get me to cry. Plus the irritability, cramping and blood sugar issues all make me sure that AF is on her way. I hate these days where she is almost here, but NOT here yet. :growlmad: So I'm still in the waiting game. As soon as she arrives I'm to call my FS office and schedule my baseline. Then we start with the estrogen patches this time to get my lining nice and plump! I was thinking about it, and she last came on 2/15/2013 so 3/15/2013 would be 28 days (tomorrow) so I guess she is going to be right on time? I hope?
I have a 90 minute massage tonight  heaven. Then home to relax and

PITA  Love it Ali! I will use that abreviation from now on instead of saying pain in the **ss!

Lucky you! A massage..ahhh...,that will be heaven :cloud9:

I am not allowed massages I was told.

Why not? There are pregnancy massages you can get?

Dh's stepmom is a qualified maseuse/ reiki master and owns a massage parlor. She told me absolutely no massages in first trimester.

Ali= a 90 minute massage? :saywhat: I would think I'd died and gone to heaven! :haha: Oh I cry at those shows too...when dh had cancer they told him he just had a few weeks to live. He said there was this room where they treated all of the "terminal" patients with non-Hodgkins lymphoma. There was a little boy there he said, like 6-7 years old who always clowned for them to make them laugh and was always happy then one day just did't show up :sad1: Makes me sad too. Aaahhhh I hope I didn't make you cry again! Stupid AF hormones!:growlmad:

Chantal- it's normal to lose a couple pounds first trimester  but hows about eating something like cheese? :haha: Or maybe some full-fat ice cream? I would :smug: lol

I try to be a good mom.....today I wrestled the dd's into cleaning their room  blasted them both in and out of the shower-shampoo hair, etc...no small feat as T's hair is to her butt! :argh: Then made them sausage and eggs for breakfast, nopw I am custom cutting patches for T's jeans...this kid blows out the knees on EVERY pair of pants she has!! Argh! Gonna work some glitter glue in there, then maybe today do some craft-work w/them for st paddy's day--after school.

Had 2 huge mugs of coffee :coffee: so  maybe have some yogurt and focus :haha:

I wonder why? I love them.. get one every other week. HEAVEN.

Yep.. I try not to watch shows like that because it does pull on your heart strings, but I'm not usually bawling! A tear here and there, fine, but I was  a bubbling mess :haha: So when I'm overly emotional that usually means AF is going to show.

T sounds like me! I was a rough and tumble girl, always skinning my knees and needing patches there or in the bum! I guess it was from all the outdoor play, sliding down boulders on my ass.. :haha: yes that was one way to get holes in your pants! Think of it as a good thing, it means they are outdoors and being active, and not sitting in front of the TV or playing video games all day.

Coy I have been eating cheese. I made spinach and artichoke dip (with cream cheese) and eat it with corn chips when I get hungry before dinner. I put feta or hard cheese in the salad. For dessert I eat tapioca pudding with a scoop of full fat icecream. :winkwink:

The Duggars are on Dr Oz and just showed how to make home made baby wipes. Dh and I have been watching 19 kids and counting. It has been quite interesting lately as the whole family went to Tokyo.

I ordered some tapioca!!! Going to start having it for dessert, and suggestions on what I can mix with it to make it taste good?

They were on the morning show a few days ago, and it took 3 separate flights to get them to NYC because the flights didn't each have enough seats for the whole family. I'm not sure why this is so fascinating? There were plenty of families like that 1-2 generations ago. In fact I'm sure there are still some in Quebec. I remember a ski instructor I had, he was a twin, and there were 3 sets of twins in his family, and a total of 18 kids or something like that. He was probably only 5-10 years older than I am!
My ancestors had families that size, so I don't know, not sure I see the need for them to be 'famous'?

I make the tapioca with some agave and vanilla extract. You can put coconut in it too. I recently made it with dark chocolate chips and agave. yummy!
Here is my base recipe: (the one on the box was too sticky to my taste)
1/3 cup tapioca pearls (soaked in 2 cups water overnight)
3 cups milk
2 eggs beaten

WOW! Eggs and Milk? Do you cook it? I haven't had tapioca since I was little, so I don't really know how to eat it or cook it, :haha:

 I'm so sleepy right now!

Ali,

Thanks for the info. So many options, and my husband and I are both not keen on IVF or anything chemical. Of course...I would LOVE to conceive in my bed on some random night...that would be great, but it's going to be very hard. Up until a year ago, I was dead set against having children, and then my husband said he wanted kids, and put this idea there...so this is completely altering my plans. We're also considering adoption, too, and I'm starting to meet with agencies, so we'll see. There's a side of me that has always believed that I would adopt (even before knowing of my DH's fertility issue). However, adoption can be an emotional roller coaster as well. At this point I'm on the fence as to what I want: a) adoption b) try harder naturally c) IUI with donated sperm d) IUI with ol' man's sperm if the count goes up e) give up entirely.

Yes pudding is always cooked lol. I cook it on the stove top, stirring constantly for about 12 mins. If you dont soak first you will have to cook longer to thicken.
