Welcome to 'Trying To Conceive Over 35'

Not been on here for a while, and still not able to keep up with posts.

This whole TTC is certainly an insight , after a few months on ovulation testing I thought I had it almost sussed. Then got AF on Day 24 and O on CD15 this month ....... guess this is nothing unusual.

Blimey Halle pregnant at 46 certainly gives us hope A friend of mine is due to give birth to baby 3 at 41 this May so all positives.

Fbs-- I think ovulating around CD15 is pretty much normal? I had a baby in October and am breastfeeding so I think that might throw my ovluation off a bit...How long have you been trying? Good to have you on board!

I agree with Coy.. ovulating can happen at any time between day 10 and day 18 to be considered normal, I think the bigger issue is how long your LP is after ovulation. This is often the part that can cause you to have trouble conceiving. So I wouldn't worry about ovulating on CD 15!

Glad you are feeling physically better. I know how much of an emotional roller coaster this is and to deal with life/work stress and demands on top of it all can be overwhelming. Bur think of it this way, when that baby is an indignant teen you can honestly tell them that you brought them into this world and you can take them out!!! :haha:

Coy, happy to hear your family is finally on the mend! Also happy the cop who filed that ridiculous complaint apologized..mt suggestion, act all sweet and helpless and ask for him to right the situation and help you find whoever is slashing your tires as you have an ailing dh and 3 dd's 1 being a newborn. Maybe you will appear to his compassionate side or he will see it as an opportunity to clear his conscience and earn praise at his job if he catches this jerk. Just my $.02

Chantal, already back to lifting weights? I guess you're feeling good

Ali, fyi we are paying for 10k lifetime fertility coverage to the tune of 5k in premiums. Dh's law firm only opted to get a plan that covered up to 10k. Each firm/company is different.

Coy, you are a bad influence for POAS! I am not testing until Friday at the earliest which will be 12dpiui. I feel that if I get a bfn then it will be a negative beta on Monday, and I really want to stop the progesterone suppositories asap and get back to working out. I did but some First Response tests tonight on my drug store run :winkwink:

Afm, feeling NOTHING. Seriously, even feeling less side effects from the progesterone today. I'm not as tired today either. I really wonder why.

BabyWhisperer Yes it is too soon to test!! Friday is probably a safe bet. However I just heard of a BFP on the IVF thread, her BETA came back at 37 at 14DPO. She did a FRER and it had a very faint second line. I wasn't going to say this to her, but a BETA that low is suspect, however it doesn't always mean it won't end in a bouncing baby boy (or girl). The answer is in how well it doubles over the next 2 BETAS on Thurs and Sat. If it doubles (or more) then it will be fine. All that to say, I doubt her test would have been positive on 12DPO. So it really ain't over until the fat lady sings! BTW.. she is 40!!! So it IS posisble!

Cool that you have $10K in coverage even if it cost you $5K to get it. It is better than nothing like I got :haha: Reading the few women that hit the jackpot and have IVF coverage, or those that live in the UK and get 3 tries, it is frustrating for us that have to pay so much out of pocket. I guess I will pick my battles, and this is not one I feel I have the ability to fight. :nope:

Coy - I must have missed your comment about the Cop coming by to apologize! That was nice of him, but definitely too little too late! I think you should ask him to create a sting operation and nail the guy that is slashing your tires :haha: That is his penance for putting you through that nonsense! Ohh.. I like that idea! Tell him, well if you feel that bad about dragging my name through the mud and making me shell out $1000 for legal fees I shouldn't have needed to pay, then how about helping me figure out who is slashing my tires? Yes, definitely worth a try!!!

AFM - just spent the last hour on the phone with my brother and my cousin. My brother was trying to get me to buy him some BB gun accessories that they don't offer in Canada, then my cousin needed some advice on interviewing and resume building, he only just graduated from his PhD and is having trouble getting a job. He is trying to get into data analysis (similar to what I do) but has no experience. So we went through his skillset and I realized he hasn't any experience working with databases, well a data analyst needs to have that! UGH. So I told him to download a database, and a sample dataset and run through some tutorials on how to connect to a database, query it and write some basic functions. Not only will he be able to say he knows how to do it, but he can say he taught himself because he felt it was a missing skillset on his resume! WIN WIN! I hope he takes my advice!

Only problem is that I haven't fed the dogs, or myself or relaxed since I finished work. Zoe is lying beside me and is either sighing or crying to get my attention FEED ME! Zach is pouting because I keep ignoring him too. So I think it is time to STEP AWAY FROM THE COMPUTER. I'll be back later..

OMG Halle Berry's fiance and the father of her baby Olivier Martinez is 47!!

Yep.. again I say.. possible, but not probable. But I commend her for protecting her child. It is none of our business how this child was created. So good on her! I believe her quote is that she is very surprised. She didn't say it was natural or not, just that she is surprised she is pregnant. So I could say that too after my 3rd IVF cycle. OMG I'm so surprised I'm pregnant (I never thought it would actually work)! But only say the first part of that sentence publicly. Technically I'm not lying I'm just not telling the whole truth. Nor should she

Ali she did say it was a natural pregnancy. She said that she thought she was going through menopause because she had been gaining some weight. She's 3 months pregnant and yet knows her baby's gender; a son. How is that possible other than with PGD? I thought that baby gender can only be seen from 16 weeks?

I heard that part was false, or well from TMZ and I'm not sure the are credible?
I think it is possible to know earlier if the are posed in a certain way or possibly through CVS testing? I'm just not sure how much they can tell and when? It's an unknown for me, never having been there, YET!

Your chart looks awesome twiggers!
I didn't have any symptom at 11 dpo either! I only tested one day before af because I wanted to make sure it was ok to stop the progesterone. And I ended up continuing the progesterone for a few more weeks!

Just hanging out here....11 dpo and not a symptom. Not hopeful at all considering all the allergy meds I'm on right now!

Good luck Twiggers! I recently found out that allergy medications can adversely effect your uterine lining. Apparently it thins the lining along with the crud in your nose. So if possible try to limit your use of allergy medications. I know, I know, for some that is practically impossible. I'm also living proof that it was pretty thin due to the allergy medications. I was popping Xyrtex once a day. OOPS! Apparently benadryl is OK? It is an antihistamine which attacks the histamines that are released to combat the foreign object (pollen or dander) so I believe this is a better option if at all possible. I take 2 pills at night and it seems to keep me MOSTLY covered from allergies. Although I wouldn't try to go out and spend 8 hours gardening!

Chantal- It's great! TMZ stated she had been trying for some time... I suspect it was through IVF, because she was surprised. She looks great!

Babywhisperer- wait till Friday to test, because otherwise it will drive you crazy.
I'm now brewing my next three days of tea... yuck I don't know how much more of this I can take. No ovulations results yet.

My first cycle after IVF lasted 40+ days and I think I ovulated, or possibly I ovulated in February. Not sure which. I just know that I have a corpus luteum and it is from either Jan or Feb. So just be patient, its normal for your body to take time to recover.

AFM - I just responded to Vladimir's email. He is all excited about us getting together when he is in FL next. I had suggested that I would enjoy coming with him when he went baby shopping, and he was all excited to hear I wanted to come with him  He said something like its fun going shopping alone, but way better to have someone to go with you!!! So he thought that was a grand idea. :happydance:

So now he just has to plan his trip. Maybe it will coincide with my FET transfer, or the 3-5 days after my transfer so that I have more time to spend with him. My FS says 2 days bed rest, but I wouldn't mind going shopping on the days after that! I just want to refrain from anything strenuous, or anything that will cause me additional stress.

Now I'm going to check out the clearance sale at Kohls! See if there is anything I absolutely cannot live without!!

So excited for you! That sounds awesome.. can't wait till he visits next.

Wait so your first IVF was in September? and it lasted till October and then it took till February to ovulate?

No not exactly. I did my first IVF in September, but the BETA wasn't until the first week of October, I remember because I found out a few days before my 40th birthday. What a downer that was! Plus AF was like Niagara Falls. TMI I know but I actually considered spending my days sitting on the toilet, it seemed easier than changing out my protection every few hours.
Then at my WTF appt they had me start BCP, that was on Oct 7th I think. So I took them for 3 weeks, got a period, then took them for another 3 weeks and then I think they started me on Lupron around Nov 15th or so. Then I started stims for my December cycle on the 26th of November. I then did the transfer around Dec 10th, and got my official BFN on Dec 28th but I knew on Christmas, so again I had a ruined holiday  and my AF was really light, which concerned my FS because it is supposed to be like Niagara Falls. Since AF didn't show up, my FS gave me provera to get it to come, and still it wasn't very strong, it finally came on Feb 15th and then AF came again like clock work after we cancelled my FET in March and it arrived on Mar 17th. 30-32 days was normal for me before all of the craziness with IUIs and IVFs.

So with all of that said, it is normal for your body to be like WTF? After an IVF cycle. In my case I have basically had medicated cycles of some sort now for June, July, August, October, November, December, February, March and now April. So it is no wonder for me why my body is all confused! Even so, I've heard other women complain of the exact same thing. Some say they bleed for weeks after IVF or their cycle takes a while to get back to normal.

Yes, I'm excited about Vladimir coming back to visit!!! We'll see how things go this time!

Where is everyone? :sadangel: All alone

I really have nothing important to say.. :haha: but I miss hearing about all of you!

Oh.. the lupron shot was as I expected.. made my belly itchy and made me feel totally wired.. I woke up this morning feeling like the energizer bunny! Plus I seem to recall when I was on it I lost like 10 lbs without even trying, but when I look it up for weight issues everyone states that they gain weight? Apparently it is like turning off your hormones, or going into temporary menopause. So I would think that would mean weight gain. Instead I feel great (well minus the headache that is coming on). This is the first one since starting it around 8pm last night.

So that is my update.. getting a floor rug delivered on Friday, a new pots and pans set delivered tomorrow (since I killed one of my most important pots), it was almost cheaper to buy the entire set as opposed to getting just that one pot! Well not really, but I got a 17 piece set for $207, and the one pot I needed was going to be $60. So it made more sense to get the entire set, and I'll take the old ones to my brother or to the cottage in Canada.

I also figured out the issue that was plaguing me yesterday so that makes me happy! Still not sure how we managed to overcharge the client $1M dollars though. That number doesn't appear to make sense still, so I still have some digging to do. Yes I said $1M!! :haha: No wonder they are freaking out!!!

Ali- BB gun accessories? Seriously?! Your brother is an adult, right? LOL! Aw, some guys keep their childhood games--my dh collects hot wheels and G.I. Joe's  lol....Yeah, really! The cop ought to do the job he's getting paid to do and go all detective for me!

AFM- drama in my house :haha: Went to bed at around 1 a.m., got up to change a diaper at 2 a.m. slept til 4:30 then got up and had to rush dh to the ER :sad1: Ever try to get an 8 year old, a sleepy 3 year old (she's crabby when she's sleepy :argh: ) and a baby ready for a cold truck trip to ER in the morning? Lock the house, change diapers, grab blankets, let the dog out, ...plus, to top it off, my truck wasn't running right so I McIvere'd up :bodyb: and have to throw the hood up and mechanic on it. Got it fixed though! Dh ended up having to get 2 liters of liquid in IV--they said his blood was thick from dehydration  plus some other meds....ahhh, anyway we are back home now, then I had to run out and shop YUK! I hate shopping today. Hopefully I am done for the day and can keep dd's settled and happy. Aeryn is napping right now. I bolted 2-3 mugs of coffee and a coke  Naughty me

I know.. I really have no idea what he needs a laser sight for on a BB gun! As the dutiful sister I bought it for him. He'll pay me back when I get home to Canada.

Coy - YIKES!!! So sorry your DH was in that rough shape :nope: Scary! I am glad he is doing better now. Sounds like he has to drink more fluid. Poor guy and poor you and all the kiddies and everyone having to trudge out in the wee hours of the morning. You are super woman!!!
I don't blame you for not wanting to shop right now. Sounds like you have a higher than average chance of slashing! :grr:

Hi Ladies

Ali that is wonderful that you feel like the energizer bunny on the lupron. I remember that it made me very bloated. Progesterone constipates me. :nope: So I am happy you are feeling great  That will be so much fun going shopping with Vladimir :happydance:

Coy sounds like you are super busy. Can't say I have ever had the experience since I have no children. The older I get I think I am losing all my energy. This morning I didn't even get up with dh to make breakfast. He is too lazy to prepare anything so he ends up eating a protein bar. I have been sleeping way too much these days. :nope:

My father in law said since I have alot of time now I could help him with some secretarial work for his new business. Not looking forward to Thanksgiving and Christmas since I always get stuck doing all the cooking and everyone comes here. I had a dream that someone poisoned the cat I used to have (he died of old age) Well every time I dream about cats someone I know goes to the hospital or dies. I need to sleep LESS.
