Welcome to 'Trying To Conceive Over 35'

The test results came back this morning and I lost the pregnancy with the heavy bleeding and clotting this week. My hcg was 7.5 on Friday. I walked the March of Dimes charity event this morning and now going to my moms to spend the night.

AWW.. JandK I'm so very sorry to hear this. :hugs:

I am so sorry J and K. Do the doctors have a clue as to why? The good thing is that you can get pregnant. I forget, are you on progesterone after the IUI? :hugs:

:hugs:JandK, I am so sorry to read this :hugs:

Please take each day at a time and go with every emotion and feeling, it will allow you to grieve and heal better. Ignore people who may say insensitive things, they try to mean well but most of the time I just want to :grr: them.

Women can feel differently about things so again do not be hard on yourself if you think you are not feeling how you should or you seem to be recovering quicker or slower, everybody is different:hugs:

And as shit as it sounds I do agree with BW, at least you know you can do it. Remember something like one in three end in a loss, most of them due to chromosomal issues or just a poor combination or poor quality egg or sperm at that given time. And you chances of being successful are the same after only one MC so be positive :flower:

It took DH and I years to conceive, and then we kept losing them. I remember after MC no.1 I was devastated but at the same time jumping at the bit to get back TTC as I knew we could now do it!!!

I am fecking peach!!!!!!! My stomach looks like a melon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ali, I'm getting excited for your FET!! I's go time!

Angel by your profile I see you're still feeling sick. I hope you fee better soon. Have you found anything that helps? I want to see bump pics! How many weeks are you now?

Afm, had my bff's baby shower today. She has edema so badly. She just finished acupuncture school and had 2 classmates that came but no one brought needles so one of them is coming back Tuesday to help treat her edema and maybe start treatment to begin contractions and get things moving. She got such great gifts, a lot of clothes, someone made a quilt of animals that was gorgeous, and she was so happy! She also told me what they are going to name their baby girl because I want to have a blanket made with her name or initial. I got her this cool baby monitor and bunny rabbit stuffed animal/tiny blankie, but I wanted a blanket made that she will have forever. I felt honored to be the only who knows the baby's name, but besides you ladies she is the only one besides dh that I have told. She said she says prayers every night for me. She had 2 mc's so she understands my anxiety about this Thursday's scan. I have no ms to speak of, heartburn has gone away and all of that has me worried. I only have cramps from time to time and I get strong hunger pains/stomach growling if I don't eat often. That is it.

Shouldn't I be experiencing more symptoms by now? I'm 7 weeks.

BW.. I am no expert but I think that it is perfectly normal to not have MS, count yourself lucky!! When is your scan this week?

AFM.. headaches and now nausea UGH. Spent the weekend in bed. I googled my symptoms and it sounds like temporal arteritis. I found that it is linked to Lupron. I'm going to ask my FS about stopping Lupron tomorrow instead of the weekend. Plus asking for something for the headaches that are now debilitating :(. The reason I think it's temporal arteritis is the pain and tenderness in my temples.

Hey all,

CD9 after my little Vitex then Soy Iso. experiment and my ovaries feel weird(throbby-tingly but not painful, and also not my normal mittelschmerz sensation..it'd be too early for that anyway.).

...Onto the guaifenesin(yuck!), grapefruit and BDing part of the show later this week, I guess. After the tampering, I'm in a wait-and-see mode (don't know if O date will be way different or what?), esp since I'm not temping.

I feel like Bruce Banner(The Hulk) as I've never tried anything like this even if it's minor in the world o' TTC. I also bought some Softcups and Preseed. At this rate, if I don't get pg by year's end, I might be at a dr.'s having a workup and hoping & hustling for a Clomid prescription. Just kidding! I think. :/

So Sorry JandK!

Babywhisperer- thanks...I procrastinated and now it's crunch time :haha: Assignment time :bodyb: K-what symptoms do you have thus far? At 7 weeks typically you should start feeling some MS soon...this can be aversion to foods, smells, nausea, increased salivation (yuk!), etc. Try not to worry! MS doesn't usually start until 6-7 weeks'ish

Ali- wow this Lupron is trying to kick your butt! Give it a heavy hit back  When do you stop altogether? Keep us updated on the U/S! Fx'd for perfect lining- I know it will be :hugs:

Matin- on the guiffenesin ...there is a caplet you can take instead of the nasty liquid! Might be easier!

Grey - get your assignment done!!!

BW - one of my best friends didn't have MS at all through all 3 of her pregnancies, so don't stress if you don't have it.

Matin - I got a generic guaifenesin at Target it was cheaper and didn't have any other meds in it. Only issue was that it was only 400mg, so you had to take 3 pills to make 1200mg a day. I believe.

AFM - had my appt with the FS, my lining looks great, 7.8mm and its a triple line. They gave me a script for Percocet for my evil head. I will fill that on my way home so I can hopefully have some relief this evening. I'm going back on Friday for my next lining check and US. If all looks good, then I start progesterone on Saturday or Sunday. YAY! Still undetermined when I can stop my lupron. I hope it is soon!

Hello ladies :hi:

Sorry to read about your miscarriage Jandk  :hugs:

Ali- That is great news that you are starting your protocol this weekend! Whoop! :happydance: You must be sooo excited! Yay! for triple lining!!

Babywhisperer- how are your symptoms today?

Samsfan, Grey Eyes, Angel, Melly,..How are you all?

Afm- I went to my Ob this morning for follow-up and she said that they were able to test for chromosomes. She said that the embryologist said that my miscarriage was not age related! :headspin: She said that the pregnancy wasn't viable because the ovum was fertilized by 2 or possibly 3 sperm! :saywhat: I told her that I had read that after one sperm fertilizes the egg shuts off and doesn't allow any more sperm. She said she thought so too and double checked with the embryologist and he said it is rare but it does happen and is called dispermy. So dh's seprm went from poor to super eager!!Guess that means my eggs are um...a little too easy??:haha: So I googled ovum fertilized by more than sperm and it is called diandric(paternal) triploidy. So neither the egg or sperm were diploidic, but the extra sets of chromosomes were caused by the 2-3 sperm. This is what wikipedia says about it:

Triploidy may be the result of either digyny (the extra haploid set is from the mother) or diandry (the extra haploid set is from the father)and occurs in 6% of miscarriages. Diandry may be the result of fertilization of a normal ovum by either a diploid sperm (MI or MII error) or by two sperm (dispermy).

WHOLLY COW!!! So now what?

So does that change your perspective on DE? Looks to me like everything is fine and if you were to do IVF with ICSI then that wouldn't happen! What do you think? Are you going to go talk to a FS about it? Seems like it might be a good idea to at least get a consult. Then you can decide if this is what you want to do or to just skip to DE. If it were up to me, I would go with my eggs but do PGD to get the normal embryos. That would give you the best chances (if you used your own eggs).

So you must be feeling pretty good right now! :headspin:

I was feeling pretty good and I thought dh would too but he was so puzzled when I told him on the phone. Yes Ali you were right, the RE was only guessing about my "old eggs" since he didn't know for sure. So this pregnancy happened for a reason! So we would know that we don't need to spend 30 k on donor egg! I would try ivf with ICSI again but cut off point at Shady grove is 42 using my own eggs. I am in quite the predicament. Ob had a totally different attitude. She examined me and said everything loooks good and we can ttc again if we want. She wants me to go back to the rheumatologist though because she said joint pain flares up after pregnancy and miscarriage. She treats pregnant women who have autoimmune issues and although I tested negative for lupus and rheumatoid arthritis she said that the arthritis should not be totally ruled out.

I think Babywhisperer's scan is on Thursday..

Yeah! Sounds like you're off to a great start! I have a good feeling about this round.

My scan in Thurs. I really don't have much in the way of symptoms other than swollen, tender, veiny boobs, hunger pains pretty regularly, get tired early, frequent urination and that's it. Heartburn was 2-3 days tops and no ms to speak of. I get cramps here and there, but that's really it. I am very nervous for this scan and I pray every night and even knock on wood. I pray Thursday's scan shows a strong heartbeat and growing right on schedule bean. I hope to be able to give my parents a great reason to celebrate Mother's Day, esp since my brother is coming up from NJ and he would love to be an uncle. He's been married for 10yrs and his wife really isn't into having kids.

Say prayers ladies.

How was everyone's weekend??

Chantal, I am so happy that something positive has come out of such a horrible experience for you :hugs::hugs:.

If it were me I'd go for it and see what happens :winkwink: I think these results are telling you something:flower:

And if nothing happens in a while at least it gives you some time to get your finances and stuff sorted

Sending loads of positive vibes your way xoxo

BW, this sounds EXACTLY how I felt at about 7 weeks so keep positive chick. My nausea and MS kicked in around the end of week 7 or 8 so don't panic. With my DS I didnt have any MS at all!!!!!!!!!

Regarding the MS, with this one nothing seems to be working . My appetite and wanting for foods swings from hour to hour. One thing that works one day doesnt work the next so it's pot luck for me I'm afraid. I am craving junk food about 2-3 times a week, I had my first McDonalds in a year on Friday night!:haha:

If your nausea kicks in the best advice is little and often, and try things like crackers, dry buscuits, ginger snaps and low sugar ice lollies.
