Welcome to 'Trying To Conceive Over 35'

Now I understand the difference between Chromosome and Karyotype. So even when they do no have enough tissue to test karyotype they can still test for chromosomes.

We are jumping right back on the horse and doing 2 more inseminations next week.

Yay! JandK I'm right there with ya. I'm on CD7.

FX'd for ya and tons of baby dust!

Babywhisperer- thanks...I procrastinated and now it's crunch time :haha: Assignment time :bodyb: K-what symptoms do you have thus far? At 7 weeks typically you should start feeling some MS soon...this can be aversion to foods, smells, nausea, increased salivation (yuk!), etc. Try not to worry! MS doesn't usually start until 6-7 weeks'ish

Ali- wow this Lupron is trying to kick your butt! Give it a heavy hit back  When do you stop altogether? Keep us updated on the U/S! Fx'd for perfect lining- I know it will be :hugs:

Matin- on the guiffenesin ...there is a caplet you can take instead of the nasty liquid! Might be easier!

Grey - get your assignment done!!!

BW - one of my best friends didn't have MS at all through all 3 of her pregnancies, so don't stress if you don't have it.

Matin - I got a generic guaifenesin at Target it was cheaper and didn't have any other meds in it. Only issue was that it was only 400mg, so you had to take 3 pills to make 1200mg a day. I believe.

AFM - had my appt with the FS, my lining looks great, 7.8mm and its a triple line. They gave me a script for Percocet for my evil head. I will fill that on my way home so I can hopefully have some relief this evening. I'm going back on Friday for my next lining check and US. If all looks good, then I start progesterone on Saturday or Sunday. YAY! Still undetermined when I can stop my lupron. I hope it is soon!

Yeah! Sounds like you're off to a great start! I have a good feeling about this round.

My scan in Thurs. I really don't have much in the way of symptoms other than swollen, tender, veiny boobs, hunger pains pretty regularly, get tired early, frequent urination and that's it. Heartburn was 2-3 days tops and no ms to speak of. I get cramps here and there, but that's really it. I am very nervous for this scan and I pray every night and even knock on wood. I pray Thursday's scan shows a strong heartbeat and growing right on schedule bean. I hope to be able to give my parents a great reason to celebrate Mother's Day, esp since my brother is coming up from NJ and he would love to be an uncle. He's been married for 10yrs and his wife really isn't into having kids.

Say prayers ladies.

How was everyone's weekend??

BW, this sounds EXACTLY how I felt at about 7 weeks so keep positive chick. My nausea and MS kicked in around the end of week 7 or 8 so don't panic. With my DS I didnt have any MS at all!!!!!!!!!

Regarding the MS, with this one nothing seems to be working . My appetite and wanting for foods swings from hour to hour. One thing that works one day doesnt work the next so it's pot luck for me I'm afraid. I am craving junk food about 2-3 times a week, I had my first McDonalds in a year on Friday night!:haha:

If your nausea kicks in the best advice is little and often, and try things like crackers, dry buscuits, ginger snaps and low sugar ice lollies.

Your posts always put me at ease. What week are you in now? I'm sorry for the roller coaster of ms. I've heard the correlation of no ms and high probability of having a boy. Maybe an old wives tale but that's my gut right now. Mr friend swears by sourdough pretzels for helping her with ms, and gingerale.

To stress me out some more bc apparently work and early pregnancy isn't enough, my landlord wants us to renew for a year and she won't entertain a 6mo extension. I guess this is ok as long as she agrees to some kind of clause that we can leave with a 60 day notice if we find a house. She's such a pain she will probably as for 90 or not allow it at all. I'm letting dh the atty handle it. His running buddy is the judge in landlord tenant court so he knows the law best.

Hope everyone had a great Monday. 2 more full days of work before my scan! Come on little Johnny Appleseed!! Grow baby grow!

Hello ladies :hi:

Sorry to read about your miscarriage Jandk  :hugs:

Ali- That is great news that you are starting your protocol this weekend! Whoop! :happydance: You must be sooo excited! Yay! for triple lining!!

Babywhisperer- how are your symptoms today?

Samsfan, Grey Eyes, Angel, Melly,..How are you all?

Afm- I went to my Ob this morning for follow-up and she said that they were able to test for chromosomes. She said that the embryologist said that my miscarriage was not age related! :headspin: She said that the pregnancy wasn't viable because the ovum was fertilized by 2 or possibly 3 sperm! :saywhat: I told her that I had read that after one sperm fertilizes the egg shuts off and doesn't allow any more sperm. She said she thought so too and double checked with the embryologist and he said it is rare but it does happen and is called dispermy. So dh's seprm went from poor to super eager!!Guess that means my eggs are um...a little too easy??:haha: So I googled ovum fertilized by more than sperm and it is called diandric(paternal) triploidy. So neither the egg or sperm were diploidic, but the extra sets of chromosomes were caused by the 2-3 sperm. This is what wikipedia says about it:

Triploidy may be the result of either digyny (the extra haploid set is from the mother) or diandry (the extra haploid set is from the father)and occurs in 6% of miscarriages. Diandry may be the result of fertilization of a normal ovum by either a diploid sperm (MI or MII error) or by two sperm (dispermy).

So dh has some I overachiever swimmers! This is much better news than your eggs being the culprit. I agree with Ali, I would try IVF with PGD if you can. I cannot speak for Cornell if they have an age cutoff but they helped Celine Dion and she was over 40 I think. I hope you're feeling encouraged. This is a great takeaway!

JandK.. great news! I'm so happy you are going to try again! FX'd that you are successful this cycle!

Everyone else... WEEEEEEE... I'm feeling amazing. Finally no pain! I am feeling nothing.. finally! Percocet rocks! I'm pretty loopy right now, going to go to bed and watch hockey from there. You have no idea how wonderful it feels to finally not have pain!

Yay for percocet Ali!!! Yes I know the feeling when the pain finally lifts. You want to jump around and sing! You can suddenly feel clearly because all you energy isnt concentrated on trying to not feel the pain. Happy to hear you are feeling great :hugs:

Yes BabyWhisperer your landlady does sound like a pain! Fingers crossed that she allows you 60 day notice if you find a house. I don't see it as an unreasonable request. In Barbados though landlords were much more easygoing because there is such a demand for places to stay since houses are so expensive. I am still in touch with my former landlady after 4 years. She said she thinks of me as one of her daughters and we phone eachother for birthdays and holidays.

I am so excited for Thursday when you have your scan. :happydance: After you see you little apple seed please add a pregnancy ticker! That goes for you too Angel. Where did your ticker go? I am not sure about the old wives tale, a co-worker of mine had a boy before I met her and she was sick through the whole 9 months! Another co-worker who was pregnant while I was working with her didn't have any and she could eat anything! I have read that it depends on how well you digest your pre-natal and that if you were on the the same brand pre-natal at least 6 months before you got pregnant then you will not get ms. I have been on the same pre-natal for 3 years and I do not switch. The doctors like to put you on prescription ones and since it is new your body doesn't have time to get used to it. I have also read that it has to do with hormones. People who can tolerate the birth control pill usually have no ms and women who cannot stomach it also have ms when they get pregnant.

That is good you have decided to try again Jandk. I am curious why 2 IUI? I have never done IUI just ivf so I'm curious. :dust:

We are jumping right back on the horse and doing 2 more inseminations next week.
Im cd7 now. So next Sunday and Monday.

The reason for 2 iui is we like throwing money away. Seriously though,,for the last couple months I have been getting a smiley on the opk on day 13 but not ovulating until day 15. So last month we did an iui on day 13 and 14 and it worked. Well at least the sperm met the egg. No one is really sure how long frozen sperm live either so we are just trying to cover our bases.

That makes sense, you are increasing you chances.:thumbup:Same thing happened to me when I got the bfp, had a positive opk for 2 days. Darn stubborn eggs :haha:

It was suggested to me to do 2 as well due to the frozen sperm possibly not living as long as unfrozen sperm.

Have you asked your Dr about progesterone supplements? They may improve your chances. I think you can start taking them shortly after ovulation. Worth a try!

AFM.. was sick all day, monster headache and I was  all morning. Called my FS to make sure it wasn't related to the IVIg. He says no, but I think it was. A side effect is something called asceptic meningitis. I had most of the symptoms. Either that or I picked up a bug. I'm feeling much better but my stomach is still unhappy and my head still hurts, but not as bad as earlier. We'll see how I feel tomorrow

Sorry you're not feeling good again. Are you doing acupuncture to help? It might lessen the side effects. The good news is that it's all for the cause right?? What's next?

Scan is 9am tomorrow and I'm so anxious!!

How is everyone else? Chantal, Sams, Coy, Melly, Babydust, Angel, J and K?

Hey BabyWhisperer!

Yes it's for the cause! I'm glad it happened though so now I can safely say that I'm not doing the IVIg again. I've been bedridden for 4 days now with debilitating headaches, nausea and vomiting. I'll go with the intralipids next time. They are $250 per infusion and have no side effects. I don't think I should go through what I just went through while pregnant. Plus I'm still not out of the woods yet, I woke up queasy and achy.

Can't wait for your appt tomorrow!!! I'm betting it is great news, then you can make a great announcement on mothers Day!

AFM.. up to 4 estrogen patches now.. and have my last lining check on Friday. Then we start the PIO shots over the weekend and my transfer is Thursday or Friday next week!

Vladimir should have his itinerary for his trip to FL soon and he is very excited to see me and spend time with me :) Can't wait!

Yay! I have a period...on day 36! Perhaps my cycles are starting to get shorter again. Gosh, I hope. It's the small victories...I must celebrate.

Good morning ladies! :hi: I am reading back through and responding as I go so if I am "not up to speed" forgive me :haha:

Chantal- :saywhat: WOW! That is freaking awesome news! :headspin: Wow, yes, no reason to do donor eggs hon, sounds like you have some great tools to work with :winkwink:

Babywhisperer- in all reality heartburn is a big part of MS. I remember if I could keep the acid under control I was  And the hunger...ALWAYS! lol, even when sickk I was hungry! Go with it :winkwink: Yay for scan 2moro!!:happydance:

Angel- I know what you mean- with me the MS had my appetite swinging in all different directions! Hang in there! You said something about "ice lollies": I am guessing that's the same as our popsicles....at one point that is all I could keep down :nope:

JandK- :wohoo: That's the attitude girl! Some of your most fertile and receptive days are after mc. I am sooOOooo keeping fx'd for you right now!!~~ :dust::dust:

Ali- I am getting excited! FET is just round the corner :winkwink: Did you go to ER last night?:nope: Hope you get feeling better hon.

AFM- ummmmm....:haha: doing home repairs right now  Minor electrical issues, lol, somehow I managed to buy all the right parts :wohoo: which is exciting to me for some reason  Oh, not sure if I mentioned t or not but babes is working on her second tooth! Got my freaking 10 page assignment done- on time! :dohh: Now having :coffee:

Hi ladies, sorry it's been manic. My toddler is sleeping beside me, he fell asleep in the car on the way home at 4pm and despite my best efforts he wont wake up. I feel like putting him to bed but I think he will wake hungry so I'm in a quandry about what to do with him. If he wakes now it could be one long night before he thinks its bedtime!

Chantal and BW... I put my ticker into a spoiler, it should say 'Spolier' below my posts somewhere? You just click on that. I put it into that as I was on some threads where I thought it would be a bit more sensitive, I think I'll just remove it now I'm feeling a bit more confident (but having wobbles today as no MS).

BW... good luck for tomorrow, I have everything crossed for you. KEEP POSITIVE.

Must dash ladies, hopefully I'll get a proper catch up later xo

Happy Peach week! I love the fruit pictures. Vladimir is at the eggplant week I think. So exciting!

I agree Chantal!! I would go see a different FS though. The one you had didn't seem to be that good. Get a second opinion!!

It sounds like you have some MS, it is just more of a heartburn issue, can't wait until your scan tomorrow! FX'd

Very happy you are trying again and so soon! YIPEE! Did you say you are trying this coming weekend? If so we will be in the 2WW together! :happydance:

Ali- I am getting excited! FET is just round the corner :winkwink: Did you go to ER last night?:nope: Hope you get feeling better hon.

Thanks GreyEyes.. Much improved over yesterday. I was a wreck yesterday. Stupid head and stomach. My FS thinks that the headaches were caused by my estrogen levels being too low, and that now they should be getting better. So yes, my head is feeling better! I did not go to the ER simply because I was in too much pain and figured that it would be worse for me to be there than just wallowing at home. The ER is bright and noisy, and my head was so sore that I figured it was better for me to just wait it out. Sure enough I'm feeling better today. My stomach is still upset and there is no way I'm putting solid food into it yet. :nope: Good thing is that I've lost 5 lbs! LOL.

Grey - glad you got your paper done! :happydance: Electrical things.. woooo.. I do some of those things on my own, just be sure you don't set your house on fire! :haha:
