Welcome to 'Trying To Conceive Over 35'

hi ladies :) i just posted in the general "introduce yourself" thread as well, but then it occurred to me that as i've been getting so much emotional support from you all here in the 'over-35' section the last few days before i even joined, I really wanted to say hello to you as well. no one likes a lurker lol but seriously I've been a bit of an emotional wreck this past month, but you have all totally inspired me and just knowing that the things I feel are normal and I'm not the only one feeling them has really helped me already more then I can express. so thanks to you all already, and I hope I have the chance to return the favor. I know my status says WTT but last month we were TTC for the first time, and then suddenly he's back to wanting us to be waiting again :dohh: but hopefully I can change his mind again before next month, or at least soon. and in the meantime, you have all really inspired me already that whatever happens there is hope

oh I forgot to say: I'm only 36 and before I had the chance to read the posts here, I was feeling like that was really old, and now I know there are so many older then me who have triumphed I really am feeling very hopeful. every time i'd see a BFP sticky it made me smile and smile and for those still trying it lifts a weight off my shoulders to know I'll have a place to share my hopes and fears I just can't share with my friends who seem to have all gotten PG by accident already :growlmad: I hope I'll be right there with you all soon enough testing and crossing fingers xoxox

Hi girls just checking in, still no broadband and I now won't be sorting as it looks like I may be moving house over the next few months, no point getting tied into an annual contract if that happens. Stealing free WiFi access where ever I can! I think dh and I will be going our separate ways, heartbroken but I know it's the right decision at this time x

Ali totally get the house drama dh fitted a new bathroom suite and we had a leak while was fitting he shouted me to turn water of but I didn't know where it was so he had to run downstairs to turn of, my bathroom with brand new lino was flooded, water was coming through my kitchen ceiling was a nightmare lol.

Sorry Alin. Hopefully at your appt the Dr will have a proactive approach to get things moving in the right direction. Femara is similar to Clomid. Some say it doesn't think your lining as much but both REs I saw said they prefer Clomid between the two and injectibles above them both. Good luck hun!

I conceived my 1st ds on 1st cycle of clomid when I was 30,never heard of femara or injectibles, think I need to Google lol .

Femara is used much like clomid, but without the negative side effects. You don't have the mood swings and it doesn't thin the uterine lining. It also doesn't increase your risk of multiples. I also think that studies have shown it does a better job of getting women pregnant. The only issue is that it's not officially a fertility medication, so some dr's are hesitant to prescribe it.

I'm supposed to be getting ready for a 4th of July party, and I'm wishing I wasn't going. I think my hormone crash is starting, I've got a headache and I'm moody as hell. Unfortunately I have to go, I'm bringing the meat! LOL.

The host was making me laugh though, she was saying she didn't want to have the party either and would have rather we just kept it simple and the 2 of us laze by the pool. LOL! Well I bought some hard cider and plan on drinking and enjoying myself or at least trying to! It will be my first alcoholic drink since April! WOW!

Happy 4th Everyone!

-------- I'm thirty five and was also super worried for a while. Found out many friends of mine had children when they were older than us. My neighbor had her boys at age 36 and 38, my meeting organizer just had hers at 41, and my best friend had her last son at 42. No worries as long as we check in periodically with our doctors. People love to say "just don't worry about it and it'll happen", but science is there to help us when things seem like they're taking too long. Good luck!

Hi there,
I'm Christine and I am 37 years old. My husband and I are trying for our second child. Our first child is Liliann and she will be turning 4 in a couple of weeks. We are on our second cycle after stopping BCP.

I am happy to be here with you all and look forward to getting to know you.

I have heard a lot saying they had side effects from clomid but I never had any.

Welcome to the new girls I'm 42 (43 in 20 days ) and ttc baby no 6,we have 5 boys already and I had them at ages 31'33,35,38 and 40, I also have 2 angels that grew there wings at 6 weeks 3days and 12 weeks. Gone but never forgotten.

alicatt I hope you ended up having fun on the 4th after all. hopefully the :wine: helped? hehe

welcome liliansmama! I'm new here too but I can already say everyone seems super nice

thank you isobel and alin for your words of encouragement .... I keep alternating between believing everything will work out fine and total panic. I don't think it helps that my DH is several years younger then me and seems to think we have all the time in the world. Maybe a part of me just wants to be able to tell him, "no no the ladies on bnb said we have to hurry up" :shy: when I think about it like that, now I feel silly lol

Welcome Uni & Liliansmama, I am 37 and almost 16 weeks with my first which we conceived with 1 round of IUI with Femara. I also did acupuncture for 4mos before my bfp and definitely think it helped.

How is everyone? How was everyone's 4th? Still feeling the cyst on my right ovary, will know more at my appt Tues.

Ali- aw, hell! Sounds like you are having my kind of week! Especially the part about househole crap! :growlmad: I'm not EVEN going to discuss my bathroom/shower/plumbing issues.....or my washing machine...or my sprinkler system. When it rains it pours :hugs: You'll be okay! Kick it all in the a$$ and you'll feel better! Go rent a kick-butt Bruce Willis movie, drink a beer, get aggressive! :bodyb: And take your meds, bronchitis is no fun :nope:

Alin- fx'd for perfect results, when will you test?

Babywhisperer- thanks :hugs: How are you feeling?

Sams- I'm always here just haven't had time to post :nope: How are you doing?

Uni Tsi-- I am trying to figure out your title, is it Native American?

AFM- meh :haha: Last night my neighbors were stupid and filled garbage bags with gasoline, tied a fuse to it, set it in middle of the road and lit it on fire  heheh....they didn't see the three (3!!) cop cars rolling up silently with their lights of...UNTIL the bomb went off, They got in trouble, heheh...SoOOooo loud those bombs! Ahh! Poor Aeryn had trouble sleeping. Anyways, yesterday I cleaned my back yard, patched up my hoses, got mys prinkler system working again....today it's school. I am taking Spanish (yikes!) I think it is valuable asset to getting a good job these days. Fx'd ladies! :dust:

It was my attempt to come up with the word for "their mother" in Cherokee but I think I spelled it wrong. lol Well there's often so much regional variation for the spellings in the english letters, I'm not sure if I spelled it right or not. I'm not even totally positive it means what I think it means  I'm not at all fluent cause my grandmother wouldn't teach my own mother any of the language cause she wanted to give her a better chance in life :nope: but when I do have kids I'm very excited we have a language immersion school now and there's a lot going on with language revitalization so at least maybe my kids can be bilingual even if I'm not.

Garbage bags filled with gasoline in the street OMG I thought people in my neighborhood were rowdy lmao but that takes the prize!

babywhisperer, I love hearing stories like this! Thank you for sharing! I've been hearing more and more about acupuncture and TCM for conceiving and that is definitely something I want to look into more. Good luck on Tuesday!

Welcome new ladies.. Uni Tsi and Liliansmama..

I've had a rough week, having lost my first ever pregnancy.. :brat:

I am going to pick myself up and try again. If there is one thing I think we have all learned is that fertility is a fleeting thing, some women are fine up into their 40s, while others have troubles in their early 30s. I think if you are hoping to get pregnant, and have tried for 3-6 months and are fairly sure you've hit the window correctly, then I think you should go in for a workup, just to make sure things are all in working order. In my mind, doing so sooner than later can't hurt anything (except for a few bruised ego's if one or both of you has issues). However if you do this sooner than later there is a greater chance that you can fix the issue.

There have been some couples here that have turned their fertility around and have succeeded in getting pregnant when they were told it would never happen. So don't get too upset if you do get a workup and they tell you that your DH's sperm are bad, or your eggs are bad. There are things you can do, just ask Chantal or myself!

Hi Ladies!

I'll be 42 this month and TTC#1. I've had a few miscarriages (two within the last year). I started seeing an RE in April and began was preparing for an IUI this month with Femara, Bravelle, and Pregnyl. Unfortunately, at my mid-cycle, we discovered I was about to ovulate on my own, so we converted the IUI to timed intercourse. By the way, I had a single 17.8mm sized follicle on CD11. Unfortunately, my lining was very thin. I think it was 3.8mm. My RE gave me a shot of estrogen to help with my lining.

I had the Pregnyl trigger on Wednesday evening (CD11), so I ovulated on Thursday or Friday (I think it was on Friday), which would make me 1DPO today. I am very anxious to find out if it worked!
