Welcome to 'Trying To Conceive Over 35'

thank you Ali. Well I guess it's not over yet. Still waiting for my second beta results. my doc suggested Clomid a while ago, to help me release more than one egg to up my chance of getting a sticky one I guess. My uterus was checked for scarring and there is none. Do you know of any other causes of implantation failure? Trying to get some answers. I also had my FSH tested and it was 7.9. They said it's within normal limits for my age.

So I spoke to my FS yesterday..

My NK cells are even more elevated  but the good news is that they responded well to the intralipids which mean the infusion is only $250 a month not $5000! So now this is all that much more affordable! My AMH is high but better than being low. We discussed adding metformin into the mix to help my eggs. So the cycle planner said we could start on day 21 of my cycle. That is not too long from now!!! I just have to wait for AF to appear.. hurry up AF!! LOL! If my cramps and lower back pain are any hint then AF should be here soon! YAY!!

hey ali! I've been on a bit of a forced break (took a awhile for AF to come after unsuccessful fresh cycle) and I was lurking around different forums and look who I see! I was wondering what's going on with you. The whole immune aspect of infertility is so scary - they know so little about it. It looks like you found something that seems to be helping you though. I'm sorry about your loss, loss :hugs: I hope your next cycle is successful :dust: :dust:

Thanks mizuno! Long time no chat! Yes autoimmune issues are a pain, I just wish they knew more about them! Like will these NK cells affect me as I age? Am I getting RA or lupus? What other issues are they causing? My FS didn't have any answers.

So what are your plans next?

Autoimmunity generally gets better with age, as you immune system gets weaker. At least that's the case with autoimmune arthritis and such. So I wouldn't worry too much about that.

I just had my first FET yesterday, so I'm officially PUPO! The embryo looked really good, according to my doc, 100% cell recovery, so that's encouraging, but then again, in the fresh cycle I transferred a top quality embryo that didn't take. Well, I did get a BFP at day 9 post transfer, but it was negative by day 13. So the roller coaster continues :)
Good luck with your next cycle! :hugs: :dust:

Generally it's low progesterone or poor lining..from what I've read. I know I tend to run low on progesterone, so I'm going to start using progesterone cream after I ovulate. Also, I take Primose Oil which helps with creating a healthy place to implant.

I've heard that aspirin and raspberry leaf tea can also help implantation by thickening lining and help improve implantation. My FS makes me take baby aspirin daily from start of cycle.

yea I'm on the aspirin. I also take progesterone and Welcome Womb right after ovulation.

I take the aspirin, too. I need to get that raspberry leaf tea!

I was told raspberry leaf tea strengthens your uterus and can make the second stage of labor faster. On the pregnancy boards there are a ton of women who swear by it and say how they went from 3cm to delivered in 30min. I will be drinking it starting 34/36 weeks.

Anyone keeping up with acupuncture in ttc? I keep hearing more women having success with it.

Afm, had our 20 week scan today. Baby is 13oz and they changed due date to the 19th of December. All is normal and fine length, weight, organs all look good, the heart was the coolest thing to look at. Baby is very active so getting clear pics was quite a feat.

It is absolutely beautiful here in NY, low humidity and not as hot. I wish it could always be like this.

How is everyone? Chantal, Ali, Coy, Twotogo, Melly, Suziq, Sams, Angel, Phil, and everyone else?

Some good news from a friend to share, she was having a hard time conceiving with pcos and told us Sat night that she's 12 weeks along!! She did a dairy and gluten free diet and acupuncture. I hope the wave of good news continues to spread!

Thinking of you ladies!

Hello! It's great to hear from you and so happy to hear that the baby is growing and is quite active. Such a blessing! I am keeping up with acupuncture and I think it's helped normalize my cycles. Oddly enough, the week that I was out on a business trip and I had to cancel my appointment, my period came five days early. Interesting. We'll see if it's back on track this month. My husband and I are still trying naturally, however, if nothing, then we're going to consider IVF at the beginning of the year. I have him on tons of supplements and extra pumpkin seeds. His count has doubled since February, however, it's still too low (5.9 million). We'll see. I'm keeping my hopes up. My husband is not so optimistic.

My step-brother and his wife did IVF two years ago and had twins. They did IVF because he had low motility (probably could have been solved with vitamins and patience). Anyhow, they found out last week, that they are pregnant...naturally. So, that gives me hope as it relates to male related fertility.

So jealous of your weather. It's insanely hot here in Texas now (106 today). August and September are my least favorite months here....but winter is glorious, so I have something to look forward to.

This is an interesting story on Next-gen sequencing and IVF. It will most likely become readily available in the next few years, at a far lower cost, around $500. It should substantially increase successful embryos and implantation substantially no matter the age of the mother. Interestingly enough, my husband's company has a division that does next-gen sequencing, so I'll be asking him more about this.

Sounds like you are doing a lot to increase your chances. If you do IVF they will take the best sperm so don't worry. Happy to hear you are keeping up with acupuncture. It is incredible how much it can regulate energy, keep things balanced and take the edge off stress.

Thanks to Alicatt I found this study about melatonin and myo inistrol for women wanting to improve egg quality on the next ivf cycle.

https://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/record/NCT01115127

Hope everyone is doin well. Im just nurturing myself. I have a big trip planned and when I come back Im jumping into IVF again.

Well, I guess it's not over yet. my levels are going up still very low. I bled all day Tuesday and passed a couple small clots and I thought it was over. Was expecting the line on my hpt to be lighter the next morning since my levels were so low to begin with. But it wasn't it was darker and today it is super dark. So the nurse told me to basically wait it out a week and come in for bloodwork and possibly an ultrasound to see if they see a sac. gonna be a looooong week!!!!!

you pregnant ladies on here are a real inspiration to me. Keep updating it makes me feel hopeful that it can happen!

Hi all

I'm 42 at the end of this month and already have 3 beautiful lil ones. I started late in life so baby 1 boy was born when I was 35.5, then baby 2 boy when I was 37 and baby 3 girl at 38.5. I was classed as an old mum right from the off...

So would now like to make baby 4 to round up our young family.

This is cycle 2 for TTC. I use persona as contraception and cycle 1 we didn't catch so have tried again this month. I usually get my O on persona on CD14 and CD15 but this cycle had my O on CD10 and CD11.

I had my O's on persona and positive on Ovulation pee stick and I did this cycle try that saliva microscope and I have to stay I had partial ferning last weekend and bang CD10 full ferning, so that was impressive. Luckily we did BD on CD8 anyway but not even thinking this is TTC as my Ovulation prediction was ahead slightly. So then thought ok here we go BD CD10 and CD13. My persona is now showing a green light today CD14 so that now tells me I am passed fertile stage.

Have noticed on temping that I have a slight increase in temperature but to be fair I can't really rely on this as my kids always interrupt my sleep and I don't get a full 3 hours before it's time to get up which I gather is recommended for temping.

I have been taking Pregnacare conception for 5 months and also drink red raspberry leaf tea to help with toning uterus.

Since TTC I stop drinking the tea when I get my first O on persona.

I have 2 large fibroids and antibodies in my blood so my consultant is amazed I have managed to have 3 already.

I have also recently been diagnosed with mild IBD and have duodenitis and duodenal ulcer back in March so have been working really hard to fix my health as my age is going tick tock tick tock...

Due for my next P 24th August but am a bit naughty and have tested all my pregnancies at 10DPO and did get a positive so based on that I could test next Friday...

Watch this space.

Good luck to everyone else TTC.

So sorry SuziQ.... Thinking of you and hoping for the best.

Fandabby- you give me hope. I haven't had one yet. I'm 39 and have been working on it for a while now. I'm married 4 years and working on it for the last year. I'm now thinking... maybe my temps are off because I wake up every hour sometimes. .... yikes

Alicatt- how are you! I tried the cocktail and I got a horrible migraine. I'm wondering if its was a coincidence or it was the vitamins sitting in my stomach. Interesting, my stomach was giving me the migraine. The melatonin also made me sluggish and really didn't help my sleep, but I will try it again.

Chantal--- where have you been... we have had such a quiet board.

Babywhisperer- hope you are feeling good. I think I may try a visit with Dr. Braveman. I've heard he does wonders.

Coy- you must be busy with the girls!

Hope to see you ladies soon!:flower:

SAMs! Interesting about the migraine, I feel energized when I take the inositol, and I've been taking melatonin to help me sleep for a while now. If you are feeling that the inositol is giving you
migraines, I'd try taking it with food, and possibly take one pill I'm the morning for a week then add in the second one in the evening once you feel like you can handle the first pill. If you get migraines from them again, the stop, as it sounds like a side effect for you.

AFM.. still trying to figure out what is up with my cycle. Still no period! I had the D&C on June 27th! UGH! I thought I was getting AF a few days ago, but now the cramps seem to be going away and I didn't get AF! :grr: I'm still in Canada and decided to stay a few more weeks. I guess I'll see what happens  I have an appt with the FS on the 28th when I get home. So we'll get to the bottom of it then (if not before). In the mean time I'll just enjoy the cooler weather and relax! Well I have to go back to work on Monday but I'll be working from here.

Hello ladies! :hi:

Sorry I have been MIA. Fibromyalgia flared up so I was sleeping alot and doing yoga while waiting patiently for results.

Congrats Suziq1 & mizuno on your :bfp:'s

fandabby-Welcome! I am 42 also :)

Ali- I am happy that you can use intralips instead of the ivg for your NK cells :) I am excited and looking forward to your next ivf! :happydance: You are so lucky to be on holiday in such a relaxing place. Wish I was there!

Samsfan-That's great news that you will be doing ivf again. I look forward to following your journey.

Babywhisperer- Sorry to hear you had so much stress with that jackass at work. Ignore him as best you can. Congrats on 21 weeks! :hugs:

Grey Eyes- Just a few more weeks and you will have your degree. Yay!

Angel congrats on 27 weeks! :hugs: You looked lovely in that photo accepting the zoology award with your team

AFM- My dh and I saw a genetic coucellor and had our karyptypes done and they both came back normal. I was shocked since having 3 miscarriages I was so sure I had translocations on my chromosomes. She said it was just sheer bad luck having the tetraploidy and trisomy 16. FS ordered repeat pregnancy loss panel for me. Everything came back negative. Even my homocycteine levels were in the normal range. We were told by Ob and genetic councellor to try again. FS thinks I should go with donor eggs. I was hoping all this testing would give us some answers to the repeat miscarriages, but it didn't. :nope: I got AF 4 weeks after d & c and after having a mammogram that showed everything was fine, dh and I decided to ttc again. Seeing the smiley :) on the opk made my day. I am 3dpo.
:dust: to all you lovely ladies

People have become so busy with work and career .When they think that they have some savings then they plan for children .sometimes it becomes late. This forum will surely be helpful to them. They can talk about their problem.

Chantal I am so sorry for your loss. Last I knew you were giving me advice on supplements and it's because of something you said that I added Royal Jelly back to my regimen..praying for you and sending you big HUGS!!!!!!!

Suziq I am sorry for your losses also  How are you feeling? We are all rooting for you that this is a sticky bean!

childtocheris it is not aways career and finances that delays plans to have a baby. Alot of women try for many years and they either have an immunological issue or have repeated miscarriages due to chromosomal issues. It is not something they talk about unless they find a forum like this one with other ladies going through the same thing. Women are strong and they smile through the difficulties. My sister in law married at age 20 and her and her dh tried from the beginning to have a baby and it never happened. Ten years down the road she found out that she had stage 4 breast cancer and there was no family history of it. She battled it for 10 years and sadly died at age 41 in 2011. Everone's journey is different but we all understand eachother. I can truly say that people who have not experienced infertility do not understand me at all. I did not meet my husband till I was 34. I have always wanted children and hopefully one day we will have our dream come true.
