Welcome to 'Trying To Conceive Over 35'

Hi ladies, I've only a week to go and then should be back online, yipee!

Chantal, I'm also in the unexplained category so keep up that positive thinking and good luck ttc. Are you going to look at both approaches then, ttc until donor eggs are organised?

Ali, it took about 8-9 weeks for my first af after a couple of my mcs, it shouldn't be long for you now!

BW hope you and bump are keeping well.

Coy, been missing you and your family updates.

Can't wait to catch up properly!

Xo

Can't wait until you are back and you can show us some bump picks! I bet you and BW are looking quite pregnant now!!!

I feel like AF is near, but I've been feeling like that for almost 2 weeks now. It is the longest AF ever! Well she isn't here, but I have the lower back pain and the cramps and just general malaise that I get when my progesterone is high. I get nauseous, and my reflux is worse. I literally can't wait until AF appears and I can finally feel normal again!

Hi Ali! Sorry for the prolonged wait for AF. When is the next full moon? I swear when I'm late I get it around the full moon. How's the vacay?? So jealous, by the pics of the lake it looks relaxing.

Chantal how are you girl? I am praying for you. I wish you could come to my dr at Cornell. I have implicit confidence in him. You are very strong and your determination will be rewarded. God will bless you in one way or another. I truly believe that.

Hi Angel! Miss you lady.

How is everyone else?

Afm, pretty status quo. Jerk at work is seen as a jerk by everyone and the bigger my bump gets and the more he is a jerk the more he looks like a dirtbag. Way to bully a pregnant girl 20yrs younger than you. What a tool. He's just very insecure and thinks a woman should be beneath him. And he is married with 2 daughters!!

Bump is growing and bending over is becoming weird so the little guy is growing. Last night before bed he was pretty active and bumping up just below my belly button and dh could feel it. I'm happy he was able to share in that bc he's been dying to feel the baby move. With the new EDD of 12/19 this could be an interesting Christmas.

Miss you ladies.

Suziq I am sorry for your losses also  How are you feeling? We are all rooting for you that this is a sticky bean!

childtocheris it is not aways career and finances that delays plans to have a baby. Alot of women try for many years and they either have an immunological issue or have repeated miscarriages due to chromosomal issues. It is not something they talk about unless they find a forum like this one with other ladies going through the same thing. Women are strong and they smile through the difficulties. My sister in law married at age 20 and her and her dh tried from the beginning to have a baby and it never happened. Ten years down the road she found out that she had stage 4 breast cancer and there was no family history of it. She battled it for 10 years and sadly died at age 41 in 2011. Everone's journey is different but we all understand eachother. I can truly say that people who have not experienced infertility do not understand me at all. I did not meet my husband till I was 34. I have always wanted children and hopefully one day we will have our dream come true.

Well, I am feeling ok. But unfortunately my third beta showed a very discouraging 117 at almost 6 weeks preg. So just waiting it out right now until I miscarry although we can't rule out an ectopic at this point. I've already come to terms with it and met with my doctor who wants to do chromosome testing on me and my hubby. And she still is open to the idea of me to switching to fert meds as soon as my cycle returns to normal.

So, put my progesterone back in the cabinet and took out my coq10 lol. One foot in front of the other is all I can do at this point and try to stay in good spirits.

Hi ladies
This is my 1st support group, so I am not up to speed on the lingo.
38 years old 1st time newly wed and immediately started having irregular cycles, insulin resistance, high prolactin levels, low cortisol as a result of a pituitary issue within the past two years.

Meds: 1500 mg Metformin, 2.5 mg Bromocrpitine,5 mg Prednisone.
Since starting the Bromo & Predinsone in March, my last 3 cycles have been regular ( averaging 26, 27 and 29 day cycles)

1st time clomid before Bromo & Predinsone my day 21 level was 7.
2nd time 138 day 21 level.

This cycle of clomid
Positive OPK day 19
Day 21 level 1,550

According to my fertility friends app my cycle should be here within the next 3 days.
Once I plugged in the positive smily face OPK, it's calculated my cycle to be day 33.

I feel obsessed due to my age.

I really need some support from you all.
Can anyone offer some insight on my situation ...PLEASE!

Sorry to hear this. Attitude is everything in this process. Be kind to yourself and lean on us for support as you go through the emotions and lovely hormonal swings. I hope the Dr has a good plan for you. I know it's hard but try and stay positive. I'm crossing my fingers for all of you lovely ladies.

been off for awhile and came to check in- where IS everyone?? its not like you lot to be so quiet for this long!!!

Welcome, LadyCop, this is usually a chatty bunch, I'm not sure where everyone is??

Hi, this is my first post on this site. I am having a HSG later on today bit nervous have heard how painful it can be. Im 38 and we are ttc our first child, if all goes ok with the HSG we have been given the option of Clomid, IuI and IVF or go straight for IVF. The Dr suggested due to my age to go straight for IVF but as we only get one attempt at that im not sure if that is the best option.

Just wondered if anyone else has any advice and what they decided??

Thanks

Hello PennyT :) For the HSG take some ibuprofen 30 mins before the procedure. I took some for mine and it was uncomfortable but not painful. Only if your tubes are blocked you could feel some pain. Often the fluid they push in there unblocks you tubes if they are.I have heard of women getting pregnant after an hsg because it clears everything. Good luck :hugs:

Suziq big  for you

Angel you are almost there! :hugs: Yes we are ttcing until donor egg is organized and we have our finances sorted. Still have lots of medical bills coming in.

Mine hurt more than my worst period cramps and I bled after for a few hours. The good news, it goes super fast so if you are in pain it's not for long. The nurse said some women come in and have the procedure with no pain whatsoever, and others say it's very painful. I'd take some pain reliever prior to the procedure. Like I said it probably lasts 2 minutes.

Good luck and hopefully everything comes back normal.

Hello my name is Latreace and my DH want to have another baby. I had my tubal reversal March of last year. and we have been trying since June of 2012 with no success. So on September 20th I will be going to a fertility doctor to see if my eggs are any good and to check to see if my tubes are clear. I had a FSH blood test and it came back as a 6.2. GYN said anything under 10 was good. Cross my fingers that everything is ok and we can conceive.

Hello,

This is my first support group as well and I worry about my age as well (36) plus I had my tubes tied and reversed. But I believe everything will work out. Fingers are crossed for all of us it will happen. Baby Dust over us all!!!:hugs:

Hello Ladies!
Welcome Latreace :hi: I am 42 and used to worry about my age because the fertility doctor said it was impossible for us to conceive without ivf. Yet both ivf's resulted in BFNs and this year I got 2 spontaneous pregnancies in the space of 3 months. Yes it is harder to get a baby that sticks but I have faith! :dust:

Hello and Welcome to all the new ladies! I'm a past ttc-er and just pop back on every so often to see how everyone is doing and whatnot..... I miss my BnB ladies! So much great support!
For those who are new, I am 42 and was ttc for a long time before going to clomid and IUI - we were lucky and got pregnant in our first attempt with IUI. I now have a 16 year old and an 8 month old! IT CAN HAPPEN! We went through it all as well.... the pokes, prods, the temping, the testing, the waiting and praying.... This is a great place for support and the regular ladies on here are awesome!!
I hope everyone is doing well!!
My little one is now crawling and waving and has started to say "Hee-ey!" (like a two-tone Hey!) in response to me or her sister doing it first! SO cute and SO much fun!!
hope to jump on again later this week-
xoxo

QUESTIONS FOR ANY/ALL:

1. Do any of you know if it is possible to use an egg donor, but only have the RE fertilize two of the eggs that are retrieved (the max number the clinic will implant)?

2. Could the remaining eggs (not embryos) be frozen for follow on fertilization and implantation?

3. Do most fertility clinics have the ability to freeze eggs (not embryos)?

4. What's the likelihood that the eggs (not embryos) will still be in great shape after the thaw.

All these questions are because I want to avoid having to freeze and thaw embryos since the survivability of a frozen embryo is only 51%. This will determine whether we proceed with this course of action.

Thanks.

Brighteyez, That's a good FSH. Mine's 16.4 = Fail. My AMH is .93 = Pretty much a Fail. I had an AFC of 10 or 11 which is decent, and clear tubes, ovulating on day 14 of a 28 day clockwork cycle since I was 12. Waited too long to ttc w/ hubby (careers) and we have been ttc #1 naturally for 3 years. Choke me. Adoption homestudy completed, but over 1 million adoptive families don't get picked every year and it can be $20k-$50k. Foster traning is, literally, impossible to make (8 weeks) with our particular careers, so we can't even do that. Been praying for God's guidance. Just trying to find His will and don't want to compromise any embryos. Best of luck to you and your family

Hello FlyFlorida,

God has his hands all over you and you will be blessed with one of his little blessings. Keep praying and he will answer. Good luck and enjoy your ttc journey.

Welcome FlyFlorida :hi: Every fertility clinic is different but the one I go to they have a shared donor program which means the eggs are divided between 2 or 3 couples. They do fertilize all the eggs. I know about freezing embryos but have not heard about freezing the eggs. I think that is because there is a chance the eggs may not survive the thaw.

With your last point about embryos not surviving the thaw,my RE told me the opposite. He said that FET transfers have a BETTER success rate then fresh transfers.
