Welcome to 'Trying To Conceive Over 35'

AFM..

Well I had my planning appointment with the FS last week before I headed north to Canada for a 3 week work/vacation. We are going to do a fresh IVF cycle with CCS (my FS calls it PGD), freeze all, and do a FET later with the embryos that are good. We're also going to test my 2 frozen embryos and if either of those are good, we'll transfer them during the Fresh IVF, so it will be a IVF/FET all in one if either of the 2 frozen ones are good. We don't have a choice about transferring the frozen the day after we thaw them as they can't be re-frozen, so we'll have to do a day 6 transfer of them if they are good. I wish we could wait and do a FET with them (as I think my uterus is inhospitable during IVF due to the high levels of estrogen). Oh well, this is our only cost effective option. I could pay $5K to test the 2 :cold: I have on their own, but that is a lot of money to spend for 2 embryos. If we test them all at once, during the fresh IVF, we can test all the embryos I have for $5K. I'm guessing that we'll be doing the fresh IVF in Sept/Oct.

While I was at the FS, they drew blood to look at my NK Cells and AMH. I called the FS office on Wednesday to see if they had the results and the nurse wouldn't give me the results from my AMH, she said that the FS thought there was a lab error and wanted it retested! :dohh: I was able to get from her that the number was super high, higher than my AMH before which was 3.6 or 3.8 or something like that. So I have no idea how high it was? It freaks me out that it was super high as high AMH can be a sign of PCOS. :grr: So they thought they would have the second test results today. I'm going to call in a bit to see if they have more conclusive results, and to get the results of my NK Cell test. Hopefully that will be normal, and I won't have to do the IVIG anymore! That would make me very happy!

Well Karen and i have finished all the necessary paperwork, training, home visits, physicals, and fingerprinting required to apply to become foster parents. Now we just wait. The licensing worker said she should have us licensed by middle of August. After we are licensed they can call us anytime for a placement. I am excited and scared..

That is very exciting!!! Can't wait to hear how your first child is!!

JandK, I am so excited for you! What a wonderful journey! I wish you all the luck and please keep us updated! :flower:

Ali, Thanks for the update. It sounds quite promising the direction you are going in now! Very excited for you!

AFM: I was out all week on a business trip to Malta. It was during my two-week wait. I was just mentioning how I was on an exact 29 day cycle, well sure enough...while I was in transit from Munich back to NYC on Sunday Aunt Flo decided to visit. It was a very odd period because it started out as brown with more than normal cramping, then a little light bleeding. At first, since it was 9 DPO, I thought it could be implantation bleeding, but yesterday the flow started to become more of a normal period and heavier. Very odd indeed. 25 day cycle is very short, so I'm not sure what is going on now. ARGH! :dohh: I don't know. Perhaps the stress of traveling and partying with my european colleagues did my body in. Not sure.

Melly.. I would see if you can't get in on 6-8dpo of your next cycle for a blood test to test your progesterone. What you are describing sounds like classic LPD (luteal phase defect). Basically as we age our bodies are not capable of creating as much progesterone as necessary, and our LP (luteal phase) is shortened. It is an easy fix, you just use progesterone supplementation during the 2WW and use HPTs to detect if you are pregnant. If not, then you stop it at 14 days and you'll get your period a few days later, then start it again after ovulation of the following month.
It is possible that you *might* have been pregnant which is why you had spotting at 9dpo (implantation bleeding time), but that due to lower progesterone levels it couldn't stick properly. I'm just hazarding a guess, and I could be totally wrong.
But as I said, LPD is easily diagnosed, and easily resolved. On 6-8DPO your progesterone should be over 20 to sustain a pregnancy. So if you can, I'd get that checked out!

Thanks Ali, I was sorta thinking the same thing actually. I do have progesterone cream, however, I have not taken it yet. I haven't been in contact with my FS for quite some time, because every time I go they basically tell me that I need to resort to IVF and never bother with other tests, so I guess I'll see what they say if I suggest that I get a progesterone test.

Thanks!

I think you can get this prescribed with your regular OB, no need for a FS! I think it is pretty common and your OB should be able to run the test and prescribe some progesterone for you. If you run into trouble you can always use the cream, start using it around 1-2 dpo and continue until at least 14dpo and you'll have to do a hpt, as the progesterone in most cases (if it is a high enough dose) will prevent you from getting your period.

Hello, I am new to the site. I have had 4 chemical pregnancies this year and this is my 5th pregnancy and so far everything seems well. I am 6 weeks 2 days with our 7th child. God bless you all in your wonderful journey:dust:

So I spoke to my FS yesterday..

My NK cells are even more elevated  but the good news is that they responded well to the intralipids which mean the infusion is only $250 a month not $5000! So now this is all that much more affordable! My AMH is high but better than being low. We discussed adding metformin into the mix to help my eggs. So the cycle planner said we could start on day 21 of my cycle. That is not too long from now!!! I just have to wait for AF to appear.. hurry up AF!! LOL! If my cramps and lower back pain are any hint then AF should be here soon! YAY!!

Hi Everyone. I have been away for a while but just wanted to share that I will be 38 next month and have had 2 miscarriages in the last 8 months. I started a bunch of supplements to help my fertility about 2 months ago (they are listed in my signature) and I wanted to share that I just received a BFP! Trying not to be too excited because of all the disappointments we've had but if this is a viable pregnancy I would like to help some of you guys if you're interested in trying natural supplements to help your fertility.

Hi ladies. Sorry I'm still MIA, I haven't had broadband for a couple of months now, long story.

Anyway I've a new provider sorted so I'll be back online by the 21st, it's taking that long as we have to wait on an engineer coming out to install a new fibre optic line.

I hope you are all doing ok, I think of you regularly but my mobile data allowance is pants so rarely get on. Looking forward to a proper catch up soon xoxo

Congrats on the bfp! I understand your need to be cautious but try and have faith.

I'd like to share a story with all of you. A client confided in me that his wife had several rounds of IVF, IUIs, and mc's and chemical pregnancies. She has an autoimmune issue, a platelet issue, and a few other things. Eggs and sperm were all good. With the help of Dr Braverman on LI and Cornell in the city they conceived a healthy baby boy. While his wife was breast feeding at 10mos she got prego naturally and is due Sept 10. They went through years of heartache and tests but they finally found the issue after going to several doctors. It can happen and I hope it does for every woman on here.

If adoption or foster programs are the route you choose, you are doing God's work as every child deserves to be wanted, needed and cherished as all of us would cherish a child.

Sorry I've been spotty with my posts, I've caught a nasty sinus cold with a cough that won't go away and it makes it very hard for me to breathe at night so sleep sucks. I am reading everyone's posts and hope to see more bfp's soon. Not much new with me, 20 week scan on Monday which is exciting. And the funny thing, the jerk at work went to sit in his chair, the chair slid out from under him and he fell flat on his ass. It was amazing. He was mortified!!!!

hey ali! I've been on a bit of a forced break (took a awhile for AF to come after unsuccessful fresh cycle) and I was lurking around different forums and look who I see! I was wondering what's going on with you. The whole immune aspect of infertility is so scary - they know so little about it. It looks like you found something that seems to be helping you though. I'm sorry about your loss, loss :hugs: I hope your next cycle is successful :dust: :dust:

Thanks mizuno! Long time no chat! Yes autoimmune issues are a pain, I just wish they knew more about them! Like will these NK cells affect me as I age? Am I getting RA or lupus? What other issues are they causing? My FS didn't have any answers.

So what are your plans next?

Thank you!!! Still no AF today, but also got a BFN this morning (couldn't save it!) so guess I'll see...

Well keep trying every few days! :dust:

AF came...late. :-/ I'm now having a very weird cycle with temps @ 98.2 CD 6-8, now 98.4 @ CD9. And spotting yesterday (CD 8). I'm normally between 97.7 and 98.0 during the follicular phase. I'm typically so regular however I'm under a tremendous amount of stress with work at the moment which is probably the culprit.

Hey Ali,
You've probably already heard of this for autoimmune issues and miscarriages, but thought I'd share anyway: https://natural-fertility-info.com/fertility-wobenzym.html

I haven't seen that, thanks for sharing!

I had my first beta on Friday and it came back a whopping 12.1!!!!! looks like another chemical. go back for second one today and expecting the worst! If I loose this one I am moving to fertility drugs next cycle. So frustrated!!!!

So sorry Suziq! I'm not sure that fertility drugs will help you much, as you are able to get pregnant. Instead I'd talk to your FS about repeat implantation failure. Perhaps getting tested for that along with upping your chances with fertility meds will help?
