Welcome to 'Trying To Conceive Over 35'

Hello ladies :hi:

Samsfan- Sorry your ivf is delayed by a month. Ali was looking forward to having you as her cycle buddy. It would be nice if the new place would take all your work up you already had done and just go from there. Let us know how it all works out!

Good luck to you and Ali for your ivfs

Congrtas JandK on becoming a foster parent. :hugs: Exciting!

AFM- Dh and I are planning a trip to Barbados for Christmas. We usually go in February but since my parents have no family in Barbados he agreed that we should spent Christmas with them. I am so excited to spend a green Christmas in the sun again. I wont miss the snow at all as we will have plenty for the next several months after we return :haha:

Chantal.. If Sams is delayed a month we WILL be cycle buddies. I won't be starting stims for another month yet.
I'm jealous of you getting to go to Barbados for Christmas!!! It sounds wonderful

So I decided I'm staying with my original doctor. It all depends on mother nature. If AF comes by 9/24, its happening this month. If not, I will get in the next round! So we shall see.... I'm psychologically effected, because I cannot believe that it has been this long and I may never have a child.

Chantal ..so good to hear from you. You are very lucky. I friend of mine went through fertility issues for years... she said in the end she ended up with a doctor in Barbados who discovered her issues. She did a phone consultation and then went there and did the procedure. Unfortunately, she was close to 50 when she finally figured out the issues, so it was too late... but you may want to look into it.

Also this is a great article..

Im not going to any of them yet...I'll move to one if this cycle doesn't work. I hope not to get there. :nope:

Sams.. interesting article! Wish my FS was in there , but he's not. He claims he's in the top 25, but who knows how he determined that.

I hope you get your cycle started soon! Part of me hopes you wait and do it the following cycle so we can be cycle buddies. I got my period yesterday and start BCP on Monday and do blood work then too. Then I start Lupron on Oct 9th, and stims around Oct 23rd, with ER the first week of Nov.

I feel as if it's is never going to happen. I'm waiting for AF to come..its day 28 and I only get one line. I'm always getting my hopes up and then AF rears her ugly head.

Aww.. Sams.. it will! A positive attitude will help. Did you track your ovulation? Are your cycles regular? It may be too soon, my cycles are regularly 32-34 days long. Hopefully she appears do you can get your IVF going. Or hopefully she doesn't and you are preggers!

So she just appeared. Which means I am not preggers. So the questions is do I run to the lab tomorrow? Its the last day or do I wait for next month?

Wait, won't you need blood work throughout your cycle?
When I do my cycle, they do bloods on cycle days when I get close to egg retrieval. I guess it really just depends on you? Are you ready to do this or do you want another month to prepare?

I did my bloods today and start BCP tonight. Then in a month I'll start my stims.
Good luck whatever you decide!

Alicatt. No your right its the last day for this group to get there AF. I would go in for baseline in an hour. I guess since the summer I didnt really prepare. I take that vitamin cocktail like we spoke about on and off. I dont go to acupuncture, but Ive lost 10 lbs. Still have 10 to go to be back to where I was in March. OH my March. So long ago. I feel like time is slipping me by. Thoughts?

This is article is a great resource, thanks for sharing. I can recommend Dr Spandorfer at Cornell as he was my dr and referred to me by my uncle who is an OBGYN. Dr Spandorfer has successfully treated plenty of celebrities including Celine Dion who can afford to go to anyone. Their prices are in line with most tri state area practices.

Sams I wish I could instill in you the faith and positive visualization that I know can make a difference in this process. I truly believe the mind-body connection is very powerful. I have heard from so many people about 7 failed IVF and multiple IUI only to conceive and conceive again once they figure out the issue. You are in NY, why not try Cornell for a second opinion? At the very least it could give you more confidence in your present dr if Cornell has the same diagnosis or protocol suggestion. I'm rooting for you girl!!

Hi Ali, getting excited to watch your next journey and hear how you're doing.

Hi Chantal, Barbados sounds like great medicine all around. Family, fun, sun and relaxation! Take me with you!

Where is Coy and the other ladies? I miss you all!

Haven't been on much lately, been cleaning out closets, basement and other stuff to prepare for our move. I got a nasty cold in the process too. I have not taken a day off since Feb! If I'm sick I work from home. I have a bogey to hit for the year and I don't want my firm to even hint that I am milking my pregnancy for time off, so no vacation days since Feb. Its almost unamerican to not take a day off in Summer for the beach! I have to be grateful though because I have a job and those are hard to come by these days.

So besides my hectic but boring life, how is everyone else? Besides Chantal and Ali, anyone have any good vacations to share??

Sams.. I'm with BabyW maybe check out Cornell? I've heard they are tops. If you feel rushed then I would wait, then you can take your supplements and hopefully lose some more weight. Also, we'll be cycle buddies!

hello: I am new to the forum (although I've been obsessing over them for the last two weeks). Im also 35 and just did IUI on 9/11 & 9/12. unexplained infertility.
I have tested yesterday (swore to myself for the last time) and BFN. I have no major symptoms other than a strange pulling, very faint pain in the left side of my belly button that increases/decreases in intensity throughout the day. I am also abnormally tired (but this could be from the lovely prog supp I have to take. right now, slightly naceous and very erect nips. Do I still have hope? I go for my beta in two days. anyone has experienced similar symptoms and had a BFP after all?

Your symptoms sound promising! Some home pregnancy tests are less sensitive than others, have you tested with first response early result? They are much more sensitive! :dust:

Babywhisperer- Thanks:flower: I obviously couldn't sleep last night... so I drove to the fertility clinic. I passed there test. I started stimming tonight. I decided... this will work...but if doesn't I will go to Cornell next. They are rated #2 on the list. The advice on the website is try your local place... even though I found out that the Cornell satellite is more convenient. I thought to myself... I've been prepping... I can continue to lose weight and walk and hopefully this will work out.

Alicatt- HIHIHIHIHI our babies can play together.

Sams.. good plan! You and Chantal will be cycling together, they are trying but not using ART so you two can symptom spot together!
It's official I start stims on Oct 18th! I'll be a few weeks behind you!

It's a good plan. Go into it with the mindset that you are doing all that you can. Don't beat yourself up and don't feel defeated. Rome wasn't built in a day, it will happen. There are people who have overcome worse odds. My AMH was under 1 and dh had 4% morphology. Just breathe, walk, listen to music, stay busy, don't project, deal with the present days stuff...not yesterday's and not tomorrows.

I cannot endorse Cornell anymore highly than to say that if we don't get pregnant naturally in a few months, I will go back there for another IUI. It is a very organized practice with no aggravation at all. I never waited more than 20min for the dr to see me and the staff is the best I have ever experienced. The place is so packed and you see people coming in with luggage as they fly in from all over to get treated there. I felt so normal and comforted seeing 20-30 women sitting there waiting to see the doctors. I could see with my own eyes that I was not alone and many struggle with conception.

I love that you, Ali, and Chantal will be going on another journey with each other. We should call it the hat trick group, since Ali loves hockey.

How are you feeling about what's next Ali? I am so excited for you!

Thanks Babywhisperer for your encouraging words. I have an AMH of .53... What is your fsh?

Hopefully, this works.

Wow, only 10 pages since I last checked in

I need updates, lol, how are you all doing?
Babywhisperer - how's that lil'baba??? :hugs: How are you doing?

Ali- hey girl, how are you feeling? recovering from anesthesia still?

Samsfan- hiya! :hugs: How are you? Where are you in your cycle?

Chantal - How are you doing?

Missing you ladies, thought I'd pop and say HEY!

I think my FSH was slightly elevated maybe 7.8 or something I forget. My AMH was .48 and then doubled after 3 mos of acupuncture.

Coy!!! How are you??? How are dd's and dh?? School?

Baby is good as far as I know. He kicks and moves around a lot. I have my GD test on Friday morning, not looking forward to drinking that orange stuff. No scan this time, we have to wait for our 32 week scan for the next glimpse of the baby. We have yet to do any prep classes is that bad? I'm hoping I can find some childbirth classes on YouTube or something similar be a use the classes are given at times we can't make due to work. We might just do a child care and CPR class in person as its more hands on.

Having some serious heartburn today and no clue what set it off. It comes and goes. Starting to fear some of the things people are telling me, c sections, tears, episiotomies, hemrrhoids, poor milk supply, but trying to focus on the wonderful blessing we will have.
