Welcome to 'Trying To Conceive Over 35'

Lol! Jess there was no pun intended but choice of better words ha ha

Hi ladies!

Jess- glad you are feeling good today! Humor always helps, and it's good to look ont hebright side whenever you can. As far as AF- maybe it's implantation  as you stated brown instead of bright red??

Ali- hope AF stays away, and can't wait for your bloodwork soon! I would have probably done the same thing, lol! We should all get blood work done just to shorten the dan tww! :growlmad:

Sober- it is diffcult to see other pregnant women when you are trying so hard--I noticed that too. It seems like our eyes seek them out! Your bfp will come have no doubt! Btw, about your temps: It looks like they are pretty steady but I do see a bit of a rise in there which is normal and a positive sign. You mention FF- there is a way that you can post a link to your signature on bnb that way we can all read your temps...I am learning the temp process and think I pretty much understand it. Marathongirl is awesome in the temp department!

Marathongirl- great to hear from you! How are you feeling today? I amglad you have the patience to wait two more months, not sure that I would, just because, well, I am impatient :haha: Relaxing is all a part of it!

Phil- hope you are keeping ms at bay, have you been in for a check-up lately?

All the other new ladies- glad to have you on board!

AFM- feeling good today. I did wake up with terrible aches and pains, my buddy the headache, and a backache. So I put on my work-out gear and resided to the backyard for a good weight work-out :haha: I used my weight bar this time (heavier weights) just so I could feel the effectivness of it more. Yep, it was effective, now my legs hurt too :sad1: lol

Now I think I'm gonna grab a mug of hot tea :coffee: and relax a bit before decdiding what to do with the rest of my day :)

Coy.. I'm pretty sure that the blood work will come back negative. My period or maybe early miscarriage is in full force. I am in such pain I can barely sit upright. The pain is so bad that its almost nauseating, or maybe I'm just feeling nauseated? Strange flow too, its bright red and thin. Not like it normally is. UGH. I wish I wasn't working today, and I took the late shift for a co-worker so I am working for another 7+ hours :( Good news is that I'm at home and have a day bed in my office. If I lie down every once in a while, I think I will make it!

Hi all, just read some comments and it's nice to be able to laugh instead of always feeling deflated! Btw gonna try the white underwear approach lol:haha:

:dohh:I should have done the white underwear with my white pants!! I'm still waiting!!! Bahahahahahaha!!!

And is there a joke in the use of the word "deflated"? Lol! My belly is looking pretty deflated right now!! This is the only time in life where an inflated belly is a welcome site!!!:rofl:

Sorry...I must be in a really silly mood today!!
...Jess

Glad you are in a silly mood :haha: You know what makes me laugh? The :haha: and the  they are just so darn cute!! But the little smiley face pointing at what I just said and doing its little giggle, well that just makes me want to giggle too :haha::haha::haha:

Spreading :dust: and giggles!! :haha::haha:

Hi Ladies!
Good to hear from you Marathongirl! 2 months isn't really that much longer to wait in the grand scheme of things.... way less expensive to get it done on your own! *wink*

GreyEyes have you been working out all along or have you just resumed recently? I've been afraid to do too much yet and was thinking of keeping it to just walking until after week 12... what do you think?

AFM- I am happy to report that yesterday was a great day.... and today seems good too! NO MS to be seen and my energy is returning somewhat....
It's been like a door closed or something and I'm just feeling great now! I did do some reading and although the placenta isn't usually in full gear until week 12, it can start to take over as early as week 8... and today is my week 8 exactly... hallejulah!! If I can feel like this for the rest of the pregnancy, then I'm estatic!!
yay for feeling normal again!!

How are all our new ladies doing today?

Phil, that is awesome news! Congrats :)

AF got me this morning, but I can't be too upset, it is my first month trying. Going to have the Day 3 hormone panel done on Saturday, then the tube dye thing for blockages sometime next week. Then if all goes well, I'll try IUI the following month. This current month I am thinking I might try with donor sperm on my own again. I like the idea of trying the mucinex too. I'm also going to chart more effectively. Any other suggestions?

I had worked out prior to pregnancy, but like you, decided to take short breaks until week 12-13 or so...I worked my arms but any deep squats I skipped, etc. Now I just do a short routine, nothing heavy. I think you are doing the right thing in keeping it to walking!

As far as the ms...have you talked to your doc about it? I was so worried when my ms finally faded- I thought maybe it was a bad sign but doc said "nope" all is well. Mine didn't disappear until week 10  I was so worried I had to have an u/s at 7.5 weeks just because of my previous m/c. So reasurring to see that baby in there doing good!

Hello All..

I called my FS's office because I needed to schedule my FEM View test (to check my tubes), and to confirm that I need to have the Day 3 blood work done on Saturday. We discussed the possibility of moving forward with the IUI this month even though I will not have the tests done in time to make the decision. Apparently one of the blood tests takes over a week to come back. So I have decided to go for it!! It is going to be a crazy few days..

Tomorrow (Friday) - US to get the all clear to do the Clomid
Saturday - Blood work
Monday - start Clomid (on it for 5 days)
Wednesday - do the FEM View (tube check)
Jun 6-10th - IUI - if the clomid works, and by that time I'll have the blood work back and the FEM View test results.

WHEW! Now that I've made the decision, its like WOW! This is probably a better option than doing the sperm donor thing on my own.
What do you all think? Am I crazy :haha:?

My decision for moving quickly is twofold..
1) I'm impatient :haha:
2) I'm going to be away for July/Aug so if I don't do June then it will be Sept before I can try again

Hoped, MissusO, and Soberbird, hello and welcome to the board! :flower: We are happy to have you with us. The ladies here are very sweet, friendly, and knowledgeable.

I'm sorry I disappeared again for a few days. May's period has me concerned and confused because of all the health issues I've had along with it. Also, DH did something which really hurt and upset me. I haven't had a chance to talk it out with him yet, but he knows he is in the doghouse with me. :yellowcard:

To top it all off, late Sunday night, the fan in my desktop computer failed. One of the Information Technology staff at the college, took it to work on for me. I just got it back Wednesday evening. He said that the fan was fine, so now I'm hoping the hard drive isn't getting ready to crash. Fan failure messages but no real fan failure is what happened when the original hard drive crashed 2 years ago. (I've had the computer since the middle of 2007.)

I hope to get a chance to post more tonight or tomorrow. Wanted to check in with everyone and say, "Hi!"

(My name is Shannon. :winkwink:)

Hello Shannon! Why has your May AF got you concerned and confused? Hope you get things straightened out with your dh. That can be one of the toughest challenges because dh's are our second half--when they do something to upset us it really really hurts :hugs:

Ali- Yay! I am excited for you! Sounds like you are going to have a rollercoaster month! I think your plan is awesome btw, glad to know you have an awesome and accomodating clinic! Wow also at your fast decision making- sounds like something I would do! Impatience  lol!

Good for you for doing some workouts!! I don't know if it is the same when you are pregnant as it is when AF is here, but I always feel a little better after I have worked out. Seems to help with the pains.. especially a backache (for me anyway).

Hope the pains are good pains, like you did something good for your body!! The burn they say? :haha:

If I haven't said it already, it is great to have you and Phil and Shannon to discuss the in's and outs of having a baby after 35. You are all so knowledgeable :flower:

I also love that there are others here going through exactly what I am going through, and we can all lean on each other for support.

Thanks everyone :) :)

I've always been that way. Once I make a decision it is full steam ahead! Plus if I wanted to do it in June, I had to act fast. So I literally HAD to make the decision today. Plus, now I have something to look forward to. YAY! It helps having you guys for support, and a fantastic Mom who said.. GO FOR IT!!! Plus she is helping with the bills, can we say.. someone wants a grandchild?? :haha:

Good Luck! I'm SO excited for you!!!!

That is/was my concern as I have heard that the side effects of that drug can be a little wild.:wacko: PHEW! So I only have to feel totally unlike myself for 5 days. I can do it!! Right? :haha:

OK so heads up to everyone.. starting Monday, I may be a little crazy!! I wonder if I should get a t-shirt that says 'Stay away from crazy' :haha::rofl:

That's great Ali! I was in the same boat last week this time and decided to wait 2 more cycles. I felt too rushed and didn't want to make a rushed decision. I'm glad for you ! Fx'd!! You can tell me all about it! Here's hoping I won't need it but at least I know people that are or have gone through it!!

Grey Eyes,

All of us ladies know what it's like when you have been trying to conceive and you have any sudden change in your health which has been classified as a pregnancy symptom; you automatically start to get your hopes up that you might be pregnant. Even if you know in your heart that you just can't be, you want it to be true.

This last period was strange. I've had light periods with just brown blood or very little red blood, especially since I stopped taking the birth control pills my old RE so desperately wanted me to be on for PCOS. I've always had regular periods, but she wanted me to be on them, so I finally gave in. I stopped taking them in 2007.

This period though started with a couple of days of bad indigestion and lots of gas. I've been so exhausted that I really have had problems staying awake. I even lost my appetite and felt a little queasy. I was extra moody and my sense of smell seemed sharp. (Hubby can tell you that my sense of smell isn't very good.)

Right before I started I had very sore breasts and nipples. As I've mentioned before, it is rare for my breasts to hurt as part of PMS. They were also very full and heavy for a few days. Usually they are swollen for only a couple of days.

I started wondering if I might be experiencing implantation bleeding. I told myself it couldn't be because I started on time. I knew it was silly but that little bit of hope started rising in me. I feel like a fool because of it.

I knew I didn't have a chance this month since I never saw a positive result on the ovulation strips.

I wasn't able to get the Clearblue digital OPK after all. The price has gone up, but I'm watching to see if it will go down during the Memorial Day holiday.

I've never been a person who thinks about being sick. :nope: I've always gone to school or work when I'm sick. I have to be feeling really bad to be still. Trying to have a baby can make you feel like a hypochondriac - especially if you are having trouble getting pregnant. Every gurgle or slightly different action your body makes, leaves you dissecting what it could mean. If you try to discuss it with anyone who isn't going through the same struggle, that person just dismisses you as an hypochondriac. :growlmad:

I am thankful to have you ladies to talk with.

Good morning, Ladies!

It's good to see so many new faces on here! I know the journey can be frustrating and it's always comforting to know that there are others who have gone through what you are going through. We tried for a long time to get pregnant and after going through all the tests and analysis and poking and prodding, we were told we had "unexplained infertility". How frustrating! I am 40 right now, and so we decided not to wait any longer than we had to and jumped into IUI straight away as we felt we'd been trying the 'natural' way for long enough!
Lucky for us, we got pregnant on the first cycle and I'm almost 8 weeks now.
I guess I just want you ladies to know that everyone on this forum understands the waiting, the testing, the insecurities, the worries, the deep desire we each have for wanting a baby and as much as we can be, we are here for you each step of the way. Any advice or experience I can offer is all yours for the taking, because I know for me, information was what kept me sane at the end of the day!
Loads and Loads of Baby Dust to you all!!!

AFM- The morning sickness is starting to abate! *yay* but still tired lots and sleeping in strange patterns.... at least DH is doing his own research and leaves me alone to sleep most of the time.... 'oh, the website said that you might sleep as much as 14 hours a day now- so you should know that all this sleeping is normal'..... to which I just chuckle and say to him 'I never said it wasn't NORMAL!'..... I think he was getting worried! So cute!
The tired I can handle now that the nausea is going away! yippee!! Sometimes though, the tired and the nausea and the sore breasts are what remind me that I'm not dreaming all this up! Sometimes I still can't believe that I'm growing a little bean and that our dream is on its way to coming true! I have to admit to POAS every so often just to see that the line is still there, that it shows up quicker than before and stronger than before.... Crazy? maybe, but it keeps me sane! *grin*

Happy Tuesday, Ladies!

Grey Eyes, Marathongirl, GeorgiaBelle?? how are you guys doing?
jm1355, FirstTry, Alicat, TiaTammy, how are you guys too??

Phil,

So great to hear you and your little "sweet pea" are feeling well. I think about you and Coy often and say a prayer for you. Thank you for always asking about me here on the board. :hugs:

I like to think about all of the ladies I meet through the board. Our struggles and our victories bond us like a special sisterhood. I'm honored to be a part of this journey with all of you!

God Bless,
Shannon
