Welcome to 'Trying To Conceive Over 35'

Right now I am just biding my time...dh is firmly controlling the tv remote while still managing to be engrossed in his book  so I gave up on that distraction :haha: Maybe I will go outside with the girls and yell at them for trying to get dirty lol...silly kids :) So I should be home by about...4:30 or so... Let's see, Ali, you are in Florida, right? What time is it there? And Jess, not sure what state/country you are in...I am in Idaho btw. Would Lovvvve to move though! :haha: Someplace warm and maybe tropical...ahhhh....

I am in Texas...it is central time...and I am anxious to hear!! Are you mountain or pacific time? Isn't Idaho divided in terms of time zones? I think Northern Idaho is pacific, right?
Oh well, either way I will probably be at the gym when you post. But I get updates on my phone and I will be checking!! Woo Hoo!! :happydance:

BTW...it is HOT in Texas...well, at least here in Austin it is!!

Yes, I am Mountain Time right now, so it is 1:50 here. Hey only an hour to go (basically)...

Wow, Austin- bet it IS hot! Do you like it there? I am basically really tired of the long harsh winters...I spent 20 sone-odd years in Alaska and did I ever get enough :haha:

Jess- you mentioned being bi-racial...your avatar is absolutely beautiful btw! My girls are bi-racial as is dh. Dh is Italian (his dad emmigrated), Oglala Lakota Sioux Indian, and Spanish from Spain. I am just Irish/Norse  But the girls! With this mix they are gorgeous :) One is dark/olive toned with long dark hair and the other is deep golden with golden carmel color curls  Both are beautiful. I mentioned to my youngest the other day that she was "Irish, Native american, and Italian," etc...and she thoughtfully stared at me for a moment then stated "No. I'm just Katana" :haha: Sweet! I love her view :hugs:

I absolutely love it here...even through the hot summers. Although there are no beaches IN Austin (Central Texas), it is a short drive to the Gulf Coast and there are enough pools and lakes to keep things cool on blistering hot days. Austin is BEAUTIFUL with all of the trees and the wonderful downtown skyline. I couldn't imagine living any place else.

I bet your girls are stunning! I love your little one's outlook. When I was little (around age 6 or 7) people used to ask me what I was. I would always reply "A Girl" not realizing that they meant my ethnicity. But I had two older brothers and I was always afraid that since I was such a tomboy when I was little I would be mistaken for a boy (even with my long curly hair!) :haha:

Does anybody know anything about eating spicy foods in pregnancy?? I have heard stories about it causing labor in late pregnancy but sort of feel that is an old wives tale... I have not done any major study but read that tobasco is safe,e tc...and lately I have been craving cayenne on everything...

Grey Eyes, I ate spicy food all through my pregnancy, and I mean spicy! I think it's an old wives tale to be honest, the one that is meant to induce labour if you're overdue is thai green curry, but it didnt work for me:winkwink:. On the plus my DS loves spicy food and I definately think it helped him as he seems to have a more open palette to different foods.

Oh and if you're thinking about it I am an advocate of raspberry leaf - my labour only lasted 2 1/2 hours from the first major twinges to finish

Ali - I've had the tube exploratory test chick so I feel your pain. I'm still catching up on the thread so will probably post again in a minute...

Hi ladies, just popping in before I nip off for a couple of days. Grey Eyes, looking forward to hearing news. Jm and Ali and everybody else :hi:

Nothing new here for me, been manic in work so looking forward to a couple of days off to chill and try and forget about my TTC woes  Dh and I have been a little bit naughty even though I'm WTT :dohh:, ce sera sera...

Hope you all have a good weekend, I'll catch up properly on Sunday when I'm back home xo

Hi ladies! Well, got back from my scan very late. Here's the verdict on gender - We're not sure! :dohh: lol...The technician that filled in for Molly had just got back from a very long and exhausting drive and he was extremely rummy- so tired he could barely see straight, poor guy. Anyway, the baby was extremely active- doing rolls, flips, wiggles, etc, so much so that the tech literally got the giggles really bad and couldn't stop  So, he told us after 40 minutes that he was VERY TENTATIVELY going to say girl but that he really wasn't sure. He wants me to come back in again- just a drop in- and let him look once he is rested and maybe baby will be less acrobatic :haha: But I am going to post a couple pics anyway, one of possible gender shot and one profile :)

What do you think ladies? Girl? Boy? Hard to tell?

Wow! That's exciting!! The baby is healthy and that's all that matters!! So excited for you.:hugs:

Marathongirl- what's your verdict? Think it's a boy or girl? And you are right- healthy is all that matters! But I am curious, lol! :haha:

Hello grey eyes, very happy for you sweetie, wish you and your little bunddle of joy all the best, I think it is a girl. lol FRIENDS

Hi GreyEyes! what fabulous scans!!! so exciting!
I can't tell at all one way or the other... if there was a definitive 'ding a ling' then it would be easier... without that, it's hard... he might be hiding the family jewels, or it might be a girl!!
Let us know how the next 'drop in' goes!!
phil.

Good morning, Ladies!
GreyEyes, Alicat, Marathongirl, how are you doing?? Georgiabelle, haven't heard from you in a bit?

I hope this finds everyone well.... it's a little overcast here today but not chilly- yay!

AFM- doing well, sleeping better! and I have a theory which I will be putting to the test soonish....
The thing I couldn't figure out and my doctor said was different, was that when I had the bad morning sickness it was always 'after' I ate.... most ladies feel it if they haven't eaten in a while, whereas I felt better with nothing in my stomach... I've been eating way more fruits and veggies the last while.... and.... less wheat products.... then had a cereal I like yesterday and wham! feel crappy again... so I'm wondering if my body has just decided it doesn't want wheat right now?? if I avoid it I seem to be better...
I'm doing a little research into what I can substitute with so I don't feel deprived.... but then will go for a month or so wheat free and see how I feel!
Grey Eyes, looking forward to hearing about your scan!
Sending good thoughts your way, ladies,
take care....
phil.

Hey, I just found this on BabyGaGa and thought I would share.... I might be on the right track after all!
"Having a baby is the ultimate test for your body. If you take care of your health now you'll come out of the pregnancy on top of your health and ready to be an energetic mother in the process of becoming a conscientious eater who only puts premium-grade fuel into your body. And by "premium," we mean: fresh fruits and veggies, non-processed meats, nuts, and non-processed dairy (plain yogurt, cottage cheese).

Notice how we didn't mention whole grains? Yeah, whole grains and carbohydrates derived from wheat or corn can actually irritate the stomach of a pregnant woman, so we don't recommend loading up on too much bread and pasta at this point. Not to mention the fact these carbs will unnecessarily elevate your blood sugar levels, leaving you at a higher risk for Gestational Diabetes."

Hey.. Yes I'm in Florida, its eastern time down here. Its tropical right now. Rainy and muggy and humid, bleh. Idaho sounds nice right now :)

AWW.. that is so sweet :) Don't you just love the things kids say? So honest and pure.. makes my heart jump thinking about little kids and how awesome it will be to have one too!!

Jess - I agree with Coy, you are quite stunning, and I'm sure any children you have would be just as beautiful :)

AFM - I'm adopted so I really don't know much about my heritage, from my looks I think I'm probably Dutch, maybe Irish? Perhaps some German in there? I actually just did the Ancestry.com DNA test to see where I'm really from (at least in terms of roots). It won't tell me who my parents are :haha: but that is OK because I already have parents, and they have been incredible!

Ali - I've had the tube exploratory test chick so I feel your pain. I'm still catching up on the thread so will probably post again in a minute...

Hi Angel,

Did you find that the pain lasted for you? I am still feeling cramps from it, and its been 2 days! ARGH. I hope I don't have an infection or something.

Marathongirl- what's your verdict? Think it's a boy or girl? And you are right- healthy is all that matters! But I am curious, lol! :haha:

AHH.. I don't know what to think, I guess if they didn't see the tell tale sign of a boy, then its probably a girl? Either way, its great news that he or she is being acrobatic and healthy!!! YAYAYAYA!!!

I can't tell from the scan but I would have to say that your chances of having another girl are pretty high. I can't remember the actual stat but I know when you have 2 of the same gender already the chances of it being the same are much greater! That being said I do know of lots of families with 2 of one and 1 of the other gender. I am just do excited that the baby is healthy!! I used to think that I really wanted a girl this time around as I have 1 of each and dh had 2 boys. However now I would be really happy with a healthy baby bottom line.:hugs:

Thanks ladies! Yeah, it's hard to twll for me too...at one point as baby was flipping around I thought for sure boy but ... Guess we'll try to find out again! I am happy either way as kids are such blessings...messy...bratty...mouthy blessing :haha:  I am obviously speaking from today's experience! They are also very smart and sweet!
