Welcome to 'Trying To Conceive Over 35'

Alin- nuts on the bfn- what test did you use? 12 dpo is early yet depending and no dips under your cover yet so- still fx'd!! :hugs:

Ali- glad Zoe is feeling better- well enough to play she'll be back to her normal self soon I am sure! :) Have you heard anything from your over-seas meds company??

Babywhisper and Babydust- fx'd you are safe in this storm!

JandK- 2WW is always a bugger- fx'd!

Angel- :hi:

Jess- you are just missing lady! We miss you here! :nope: Come back :sad2:

AFM- I am looking at charts but ams o rummy atm I can't really see straight :haha: I think I would sleep better if I just quit waking myself up  I ake up, check the baby, get up and go check the dd's in their room...they are usually falling out of bed  so I end up putting them back and covering them, then I go to bed. I do this every 2 hours :haha: Think I am going ? LOL!

Hm...Physically feeling good, my tummy is shrinking  I look about 5 months preo and everyone on town looks at my belly and says "still waiting for baby?" :saywhat: 'Scuse me?! I am not that big anymore folks! :growlmad: Do I look fat to you? LOL! :haha: No offense taken, I get them back by acting offended then they get embarassed :smug: lol.....I have no appetite lately though, I think my body is trying to gear back to what it was  Problem is I'll go all day w/o eating anything then feel like passing out :haha: Nuts!

I actually got a call from the FS today, they have a backup plan to order the drugs from Canada so we will do that if we have to.
Zoe is doing really well and her teeth are amazing, not a single rotten tooth and they are all clean and sparkly.. pretty good for a girl who is 10!

Make sure you get some sleep! Maybe babes doesn't need to eat so often? Sleep for 3 hours at a time? Also make sure you eat! You need your strength!

I've been watching my FB wall and the news about the storm and I don't think many people in NY or NJ have power or cell service. I bet it is a few days before we hear from people in those areas. They are opening the NYSE tomorrow but I don't know how people will get to work! The subway is under water, salt water which corrodes metal, basically killing all the electrical works, so it could be a while before those lines are open. It's going to take a long time to rebuild, but they will! I just hope everyone is safe!

Morning All,

OK, I have been MIA again for a few days, I have been stalking, just not getting time to write. Not much is happening anyway.

AF has gone away, who knows how long for this time. I started the FertiliTea yesterday, it is actually quite nice to taste, so I can keep up that. I had a call from the doctors office yesterday, but they rang my home phone at 3pm when I was at the office and I didn't find it until I got home at 6.15pm. Why don't they call mobiles, thats what they're for? Grrrrrr! They open at 8am, so I'll be phoning them in 11 minutes time and will update as to what they say.

Thinking of those of you affected by the storms, I've got BBC News on and it looks horrific. Wishing you all well. xx

Hi Everyone. I'm new to this whole group and posting, but I was so glad to see women over 35 talking about their experiences. I'm 37 and starting my first round of IVF this month. I did many rounds of clomid and had different procedures and surgeries with no success. We have been TTC for almost 8 years. We move around bc of my husband's job and every dr starts me over in the same place. Not this time, I've taken matters into my own hands and found a dr that wants to move this process along for us as well. He can't believe I did over a year of clomid at different times and no dr thought that it was time to try anything else. So here I am 8 years later and hopeful that this will be my time.

Mells.. Welcome! We often chat about things other than TTC, but we are all in various stages of TTC and we even have a few successes, with Grey Eyes having just given birth to a beautiful baby girl, and Philomena several months pregnant. So rest assured, it is possible to have a baby in your late 30s and early 40s. I just turned 40 and have been TTC since June of this year. My situation is unique because I am single and am using donor sperm, so I really have no change other than using assisted methods. I have done one IVF cycle which ended in a :bfn: and am gearing up for another cycle starting in a few weeks. I too have tried clomid, and injectibles and had 3 IUIs prior to the IVF. I am so glad that you have found a Dr that wants to take things to the next step! Let's hope that you are successful! Have they discussed the protocol they are going to put you on? What is your diagnosis with respect to why you haven't been able to get pregnant in the past? Myself and the ladies on this thread are VERY informed with infertility and all of the options available for you!

Hi again,

Welcome Mells, you're joining a really nice group of informative ladies here, please feel free to ask any questions you may have.

AFM, went to see the Doctor this morning, my bloods all came back normal, testosterone, blood sugar and a few other hormones they tested for, but as the scan suggested PCOS, he is agreeable with that. I mentioned Metformin and he said that the specialists at the hospital don't like to use it as it is meant for another issue. He did mention Clomid though, but Hubby has to have an SA first. I explained that he had asked for one last week, but was told the same thing as I had, we haven't been ttc for 2 years yet, well, since the MC anyway. He told me that he is happy to get it sorted for us, so now Hubby has to book an appointment to see that doctor and fill a load of paperwork in, then once the results of that come back, we'll both go to see him together and if Hubbys :spermy: is ok, he MIGHT look at putting me on Clomid.

Flipping heck, by the time all this is done, we'll be in April and all this'll be moot anyway as 2 years will have passed!!! Well, at least I'm getting somewhere I suppose. He did happen to mention that with IVF etc, they won't do anything unless my BMI is under 30. I've got a looooooooooooong way to go for that, its at 50 at the moment! Yep, thats right, 50!!! I've got to lose almost half of my body weight to get to that point, so lets hope that I get Clomid and it does the job eh?

It definitely seems like Babydust and Babywhisperer have lost power and mobile networks, I hope they're Ok, they were both getting ready to test, I hope they don't get too stressed over the weather etc and that they can stay warm in their own homes. Its cold here and a little bit blustery, but I can't even begin to imagine what its like in NJ at the moment. Again, my thoughts are with everyone affected.

It does sound like you are moving forward, which is a positive thing. It also is good that your hormones were in good shape  I would still be concerned about PCOS, and your BMI. If you are right and they won't really do anything beyond perhaps clomid before you have been TTC for 2 years, then this is a good time to work on getting your BMI under 30. I know mine isn't under 30 either, mine is around 35, and understand the struggle you have with your weight. There is another way you could get around the metformin, and have it prescribed, and that would be to go see an endocrinologist. Have them test your metabolism. That is how I got metformin prescribed initially, plus they will look at other causes of your weight, and suggest ways for you to lose some. Can you get an appt with an endocrinologist? I'm sneaky (if I can't get what I want one way, then I'll get it done another)!!!

AFM - it seems like I have one step forward and then 2 steps back. I need the following drugs for my cycle: LUPRON, HCG, MENOPUR and BRAVELLE, then there are a few others that I need around the egg retrieval and embryo transfer, but I can get those from my local pharmacy. The LUPRON and HCG are being ordered from Freedom Pharmacy, and they were able to run the LUPRON through my insurance and they covered it with at $10 co-pay! YAYAY! It is normally $199. Unfortunately they are located in the NE, and are having troubles shipping drugs out and so they are only shipping meds to patients that need it because they are starting their cycles. So I had to argue with her to get them to ship the meds by Monday for arrival in FL on Tuesday because my appt to start this cycle is on Wednesday. So I think we have that part covered. I should get the LUPRON on time. The MENOPUR and the BRAVELLE (the stimulation meds), are still up in the air. The FS thinks they may have shipped yesterday or possibly today, but can't tell us for sure because their system is located in the NE and is down. So hopefully those meds are on their way, and we'll get them soon.

This storm has done a lot of damage, and it is going to continue to effect most of north america for a long time.

I just hope our friends BabyWhisperer and BabyDust are safe!

Ali- wow, so glad you didn't get hit so hard financially with these meds- I hope they come soon for you. When do you need to start them?

Terri- glad you have a doc that is willing to move forward now, I know it is hard being patient  but what can we do? As far as the clomid it'd be great if they let you on it sooner than later. Re: BMI. Did doc give you any ideas for safe weight loss? I don't trust those tricky fast-weight-reduction diets...:nope: Healthy all the way even though it may take longer

Jess....-....:sadangel:....

Mells54- Hi there! Wow, hope you get it all sorted, glad you are able to move forward though! I am 37 (I am "Coy" :hi:) and just gave birth to our 3rd little girl last week. My doctor said age doesn't have so much to do eith anything as oyur health does, so stay healthy! Glad to have you on board this thread! I love the ladies here :hugs:

AFM- wow, busy day. We took Aeryn to her first doctors appointment checkup--doc was stunned that instead of losing weight she actually gained 9 ounces! :smug: She is exactly 6 pounds now :happydance: Perfect health. Doc said because of my healthy and easy (wtf? why do they all say "easy") labor that I can start excersizing in about 2-3 weeks  YAY! I am a bit bummed though as I now weigh 140.02 which is exactly 10 pounds less than birth-day- weight...:sad1: I want to be thin again! :hissy: lol!

Hello to all my lovely BnB ladies!
Welcome Mels!

I've been doing some researching on when and how to start taking Evening Primrose Oil for preparing for birth (I used it with my DD#1) and came across this article. It speaks more about how to use it and benefits of helping with conception, so thought I would pass it along!

https://www.pregnanthealth.com/evening-primrose-oil/Hope everyone is doing well!

Mells - Welcome! Glad you came to join us. :flower:

Terri - Glad you found a doctor that was willing to move forward. I'm with Ali on seeing an Endo and trying to get some Metformin.

Ali - How is your puppy doing?

Coy - Glad Aeryn is doing so well. How are you doing?

Phil - Thanks for the article on EPO. :flower:

AFM - I had the mammogram done today. TBH, it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. The woman who did it was very nice. She showed me the images after each view (I had three on each side since I was having problems). This is what I noticed: the left side, which I am having clear fluid from, has milk ducts that looked a bit fuller? than the right side. Everything else on that side looked fine. The right side, however, had a spot about the size of a pea. It was glaringly obvious. :argh: My doctor said she would try to call me tomorrow with the results from the radiologist. I'm honestly not worrying about it. Whatever happens will happen, so we will take it as it comes. :coffee:

TwotoGo, I'm glad you were able to get in to have your mammogram done. Usually nowadays, they can catch things early enough so I think your attitude is great! I think it's fabulous that they are going to get back to you tomorrow with some solid results one way or the other. Good luck! Sending good thoughts your way!

I hope everyone else is doing well, too??

phil.

Ok quick post we just got power back, devastation is the word, houses split in half, flooding is terrible, trees are down everywhere, power lines down, people being killed by floods and live wires. We got our power back 30min ago, but we are on a different line than most of our town. I cannot begine to explain the devastation and destruction around us.

afm, af about to come, temps dropped, feeling cramps, don't think I can get into my obgyn for tests since NYU medical is flooded. It's a minor inconvience after everything. I don't know if I can get tested on CD3. I will keep you posted. Thank you for your thoughts and prayers. We are luckier than most, 30 people killed in nyc. This is tragic. Fires, drownings, floods...I feel for everyone. I miss you all. xoxoxoxoxxo

Babywhisperer- thanks for letting us know you are OK!! Take care of yourself and your dh :hugs: :hugs:

Babywhisperer- thanks for letting us know you are OK!! Take care of yourself and your dh :hugs: :hugs:

It's so horrible we are blessed for not having floods on our streets and getting back power. We are having our neighbors over for food, showers, charging computers and phones...so many people are out of their homes, floods, trees blocking roads, on homes, it is so so bad...nothing like I have ever seen and even my parents who have been on LI for 30+ years. I pray for everyone in Long Beach, Fire Is, Breezy Pt, and the barrier islands of NJ. They have been wiped out. Please keep these people in your prayers. We are ok and I thank you for your continued support. It means more than you know. :hugs:

I can't imagine the devastation, I am very happy to hear that you are OK!!!! What a horrible storm. I have been watching the news, and the weather channel for coverage about it. It is just mind boggling the devastation. and don't worry about the testing, you can always try again next month when things are hopefully a little more normal. In the mean time, stay safe, help your neighbors and do what you need to do to stay safe and work to get things back to normal!

We are safe here but no power still. Im at my wits end with my kids. We r not sleeping well the house is 50 degrees every am and we r huddled by the fires all day and night. So glad u r ok babywhisperer! It is total devastation. My temps r still up but tested yest and thought i saw a pos line showing up but then it disappeared. My bbs have been soooooo sore. More than i can ever remember before af. I Havent really been paying attention to other symptoms with all Thats going on. Most of r town has power as of last night so hopefully we will soon. This was the Scariest storm i have ever been thru. Praise God we r ok!!

AFM - I'm doing OK, gaining weight and its a little disheartening. I think its a combo of being on the pill, not having the right thyroid medication and quitting smoking and trying to substitute the craving for a cigarette with food (which just leaves me feeling fat with cravings)! :argh: My foot is finally back to normal after the plantar fascheitis (sp) so I can at least walk on it again. I think I will start taking the doggies for a really long walk after dinner to help get my mind of the cravings. It is funny, I don't want a cigarette, but I sit there and I know I want something, but nothing I eat is making the craving go away. So last night I didn't eat anything additional to try to fulfill the craving (yay me)! Still, I can feel the extra weight on my hips. :growlmad:
I need to get off these horrible BCPs!!! ASAP. I start the lupron on 11/9, and stop the BCP on 11/13. So not too much longer now, YAY!

Zach managed to get into the Rachshund Rescue South Florida Calendar!!! YAY! So that is exciting. They also managed to raise about $12,000 for the cause. Now they can help save some more dachshunds that are in need of good homes.

Not much else is new here, I'm just working, and trying to keep my eyes open. I'm super tired today and I'm not sure why?

Afm, temp went back up but cm dried up and I am starting to cramp. I think af is on her way any minute.
