Welcome to 'Trying To Conceive Over 35'

Good morning, everyone!
I woke up at 4 and couldn't get back to sleep for a little bit.... then I totally zonked out and have had some crazy dreams! Like a row of oak trees and one was on fire... I went inside a hotel because I needed to 'check in' for a conference or something and I reported the tree on fire, but nobody seemed to care. Then I was trying to find my room and needed to get a bottle of caramel syrup to put on top of some sort of sweet dessert square, and kept getting held up by others trying to find THEIR rooms..... crazy dreams!! ....now it's 10am Calgary time and I'm pouting because I slept in past my game start time! My favourite football team (soccer for my U.S. friends) is Liverpool and I've woken up in time to catch the second half, but it's 3-0 for my team and I've missed all these amazing goals!! Ah, well, at least the score is in our favour!!

It's the only sport I watch on TV, and one day I hope to get to see them in person....

So I'm still as I was! Babes hasn't shown herself yet..... I'll be sure to let you guys know first!!

today would be a good day to go into labour- my two favourite midwives are working, my doula is available, my best friend is off work, and it's sunny outside!

Time to finish watching the game!!

phil.

Morning Phil, I hope you enjoyed the game, what you saw of it anyway. Liverpool are coming to the town I live in next week, I think its either the 6th or 7th, so you may be watching them at a place about 2 miles from my house. I'll be able to hear the crowd from my house. I won't be going though as I really don't like football. LOL!

Hi TerriLou!
I did enjoy the rest of the rest of the game! I will be watching the next one too! But they never show more than the stadium when a game is on. I have to order and pay extra for a special channel so I can watch games live. I used to go watch the games with a bunch of men at the pub- we have a lfc supporter's club in Calgary - but it's not family friendly and I won't be able to bring babes in with me after she's born.
How are you doing? I've been thinking about you...

Phil our household are all Liverpool fans. I've only been once to see them though.

Alin, lovely to hear from you and cyber hugs coming your way.

Ali, so glad to read that your brother apologised. My brother is quite hot headed too but doesn't do the apology bit, just gets on like nothing happened. Oh what a choice you have, go with your gut feeling. Or write the question on a piece of paper and sleep with it below your pillow, I've heard it really works ;-)

Coy yes my sis in law is a real piece of work and she knows now I won't try anymore and I made it subtly obvious last time I bumped into her.

Well my body is still playing games. I only had a spot earlier after some nooky but nothing more :-\ . I had a little nosey, sorry tmi, and nothing at my cervix waiting so I'm just confused. Cervix low and soft as well just to mess with my mind more.

I just wish AF would hurry up and put me out of my misery. I'm trying do hard not to think 'could I be?' but it's so difficult. With my history as well I need to know asap so I can start further meds.

Come on god, save me some stress :).

Xo

Hi Angel,
How are you doing today? Yay for more LFC fans! Any AF today? Or maybe a BFP ?
Your sis in law is nasty using her kid against yours- that's a new level of cruel! You are definitely better off without her!

AFM
Still pregnant! DD#1 and I went to a film last night to take my mind off of it. We went to see "This is 40" and it was pretty good! I found myself laughing out loud quite abit!
I was so tired when I got home I practically fell asleep as soon as my head hit the pillow! Strange dreams again, this time involving the ghosts of my favorite Great Aunt and my Great Grandmother.... I woke up feeling like they are both close. My great grandmother had 7 babies and my aunt, though she only had 1 baby (due to blood type issues) was always a great supporter of pregnancy and babies. So maybe they are watching out for us? Maybe we are close?
2012 was a hard year for me- maybe this baby will symbolize a new start by being born this week- in 2013? If she's the first baby born in Calgary she'd get her picture in the paper and a bunch of swag!

angel thanks hun your chart is looking good have u tested at all as your temp still seems high

Angel.. your chart looks great! Maybe a little implantation bleeding? How do you feel? Do you feel AF on the way? I really hope this is it for you!

I'm not so sure my mom didn't read him the riot act and make him appologize! Either way, it was nice he did what he did!

:dust:

My body is still being really cruel and I'm now 3 days late but no BFP. A temperature dip this morning so I'm 99% AF is on the way. I had one small episode of spotting yesterday and another bit this morning and it's not like an IB, which would be a total surprise as we still aren't officially TTC. But yes I'm dreaming so feeling a bit . I have those lower cramps so know she is coming, I'd just wish the bloody :witch: would start properly today or tomorrow to get any such thoughts out of my head :headspin:. I'm putting the screwy cycle down to my Christmas splurge of sugar and more high-GI foods in various guises aggravating my PCOS :growlmad:.

Hello ladies, I'm 40 and have been ttc #1 for about 9 months. Very regular 28 day cycle ovulating around day 14, but nothing so far. I haven't told anyone in real life so I thought i would come here and see if it's a good substitution. I was using the CBE monitor but stopped last month because I swear it made me crazy! I'd get the thumbs up from it and it was like I was possessed "DH in me NOW!" I'm usually pretty reasonable and stress free but the whole TTC is really stressful and making me nuts. I've tried to relax and if it happens great, if not, that's ok too, but that is hard to do after I've actually thought about what our child might be like. Anyway, before I get too chatty, I just wanted to say hi and thanks for being out there.

Welcome Peacenik! I hope you get your rainbow soon. All the ladies on here are a great support :flower:. And yeah, I'll give the old cliche, try and relax and I believe this also can have an effect on the whole TTC business. As soon as I learned to relax more (thinking of ANYTHING bar babies during sex) things started to happen for me. I just have a problem hanging onto them now but I'm persevering . Looking forward to getting to know you.

Welcome Peacenik, you'll find some lovely ladies to chat to on here, if you need a rant or just a little bit of support, you've found the right place.

I'm 37 and have been trying for about 2 years. My cycles are very irregular, some have been about 30 days, but then, others nearer 60 or even 90. Our Doctors here won't look at anything infertility wise until you have been trying for 2 years. I had a miscarriage in 2011, so they count it from that cycle, which is really frustrating. All they say is "Well, it happened, so it'll happen again!"

Fingers crossed for you, here's hoping 2013 is our year for everyone in this forum.

:dust: :dust: :dust:

Terri - I'm going to disagree and say your doctor has told you balls :growlmad:. In normal circumstances the NHS dont usually investigate until 2 years, but if you are in the over 35+ category they should see you after 6 months or a year maximum if unsuccessful in conceiving:growlmad::growlmad:. Get onto them and complain. I've seen this in print somewhere, try googling it for the health trust you are in. xo

My FS office is closed today. AHHH! Their message said if you are starting a new cycle to hold for the on call service. So I did, he didn't want to put me through to the on call person, but I insisted and talked to the nurse on call. She said to come in around 11 on Wednesday! YAY! Can't wait to speak with my FS about what we should do.

Hi Peace. Welcome! I'm a 38 yo ttc for a year. Married 3 years. I went to a FS end of November. I have regular periods 28 day cycles. I feel when I ovulate, just haven't managed to got A positive. So IVF is recommended for me. I have a low AMH, but I think in a key factor in choosing IVF (even though, I really don't want to) is that Ivf offers me the best success rate. I went for my 3 day test today and spoke to the nurse and I'm going to try a round of IUI wo meds (bc its too late to get me on meds) this month. Trying to decide whether to start IVF next cycle or start in March. My concern is the February weather here. Its brutal. I also have a trip planned in Feb (I can always cancel) Ladies??? Input???

Anyway, I'm new to this group and I love it here.

Philomenia. New Years Baby!!! Woop woop

Ali... talk to you doctor. See if you can see him asap. Do you have an appointment?

I also agree its six months of infertility in the US. Talk to you ladies later. Happy new year.

Called the answering service and made them connect me with whomever was on call. I wanted to get an appt ASAP. My FS is not in the office again until Thursday, so I have an appt for then. I asked if I should come in for blood work on Wednesday but she didn't think it was necessary, even after I said I wanted to do an IUI possibly this month. So I guess seeing the FS on Thursday is my best option. He can order tests and decide what we should do for the next cycle. He may not think IUI is a good idea. I wish I had a partner I could :sex: with! AHHHHHH. So unfair.

Ali. I just came from nurse who said I could do IUI wo drugs around 10th day if I want. All you need is sperm. My only reservation is I want to have more than one child and ivf would give me a better chance of that by preserving frosties (if I get any). If I get prego on iui wo drugs I would be so excited. However, that would mean I would be trying for a second child at 40 and who knows what my eggs will look like then. Idk. Maybe I'm overthinking it. In your situation go for it, unless they put you on birth control for ivf that may delay 3rd ivf. My protocol does not include birth control that's why I can do it. Food for thought! Next appt. Wed for gyno clearance!

Hi coy yes my sis has a fiance he is actually my dh ex brother in law,she is 4 year older than me with 4 boys twins at 18,one at 22 and one at 23 and i have always been there for them untill i moved away and she split with her hubby (kids dad),i then returned home after splitting with my fiance and met my dh who i had know since i was 18.

Happy New Year ladies!

Sorry I have been MIA. DH's last day home today. He was home since the 21st and is going back to work tomorrow. He is sleeping in right now :haha:

Ali- I was just reading about our brother's comments. Sorry he was so insensitive to you during his visit. I am happy he made up with you before he left. He was the one being selfish not being supportive of you! How can wanting to be a Mom be selfish? :( My vote is sperm #2. feel it's better to go with the donor who has already done the necessary genetic testing etc. What have you decided?

Angel- Yes I am like you too when my temps start to drop I just want :af: to start and start a new cycle. I get very irritable because the 2ww is so long and get hopes up even though the doctor said it was impossible without ivf. I still believe in miracles.

Coy- You are so lucky to be so fertile. How old are you? If you posted that already sorry I must have missed it. How are your beautiful girls doing?

Philomena- I'm SO excited for you! Soon you will be holding your precious baby girl! :yipee:

alin3boys- My birthday is in July too and I will be 42.

FirstTry, TwoToGo, Babywhisperer, Babydust, Terrilou, samsfan and Jess- Hello and :dust:

AFM-The time flew by. I can't wait to do a total clean of the house though! lol It was a good break going to different stores and getting together with friends. I hope all this relaxing will help! January 26th 2010 is when I got a bfp so always hopeful in January.

Never! Glad you had a relaxing time. I did as well. I'm supposed to go back to work on Friday, but I am thinking I will take it off. Seems silly to go back on a Friday! We'll see, I might just bite the bullet.
My appt with my FS is on Thursday morning. Can't wait to talk to him! Get a plan in place.
I have a headache this morning.. too much champagne! OOPS!

Hope everyone is doing well and looking forward to a BFP in 2013!

:dust:

Hello Ladies!
Happy New Year! So this baby is going to be a January Baby after all!!
I have to admit I'm pretty happy to have made it this far.... a couple of more days and I'll be at my due date.... Somehow I'm thinking now, that it will be next week sometime... she seems pretty snug in there. A long time ago (before I was diagnosed with the Gestational Diabetes) I had a thought that it would be nice to have this baby on my mum's birthday which is January 8th... And assuming the ultrasound goes well on Thursday, and they give the go ahead for a safe spontaneous and natural labour and delivery, I won't mind waiting until next week for this baby.... Of course, if SHE decides to come sooner, I wouldn't complain either!

Last night my DD#1 and I went for supper with my mum and my Nana. It was great to have 4 generations of women sitting together and eating and visiting.... I love my family! it totally makes up for having a sucky in-law family!! (with the exception of my father in law!)
We got home early and watched the Rockin' New Year's Eve on television while eating apple pie.... a quiet New Year's with my first girl.... it was great!

At about 10:30pm I gave my Father in Law a call and we had a good Happy New Year's chat.... I think it's a tradition I will keep up from now on. He really likes me and he's SO excited for this baby. His late wife always wanted a granddaughter (they have two grandsons already) and so this baby girl is special for him. In the late spring/early summer, I'm planning on driving out to Vancouver Island to visit friends, my brother and his family and, of course, my father in law. If I'm very lucky the rest of the family will stay away. He's already offered us the spare room in his house so I think it will be a very economical trip and well worth the effort!

So has anyone made any New Year's Resolutions?? Mine are mostly things like "I resolve to be more joyful, more focussed on my family, and committed to providing for my girls a stable, loving home.... "

Well, 2012 was a difficult year emotionally for many of us.... Here's to 2013 being a year of BFP's, Love, Health, and Happy Times!!

Happy New Year everyone! Hoping that 2013 will be a lucky year for most of us!!!!

Phil- Sounds like you had a nice evening... Very excited for you!!!! Soon enough you will have a bundle of joy!

Ali- New Plan sounds promising! Can't wait until Thursday for you to get your plan.

Hope everyone is enjoying there day! Its one of those days where I want to do something, but have no idea what to do and I can't get off the couch. :coffee: Anyone have suggestions for this New Years Day?

Samsfan your puppies are so cute! What breed? I could stare at them all day :) If the weather is nice maybe a long walk? I am getting dressed now to go for a walk with dh. 40 f today so not too cold.

Ali think of it this way if you go back to work Friday it will be a very short work week  We rang in the new year with a few friends. I had only half a glass of champagne since I am on cycle day 11 but wish I could have had more :haha:

Phil my New Year's resolution is to be happy and not let people bring me down. Dh's resolution is always to start exercising. He hates exercising with me because I point out when he cheats like putting a cushion under him when doing situps! :saywhat: He likes to WATCH me do my pilates and fertility yoga. He also watches that program the biggest loser and I always tell him that he should feel motivated and exercise while watching them not be a couch potato! :haha:

Phil - I was thinking of you last night, wondering if you were going to have a New Year's Baby! I guess she decided she didn't need all the fanfare of being the first to arrive on New Year's Day. I love the idea of her being born on your Mom's b-day. I wonder if she will make it that far?

Samsfan - I hear you on wondering what to do today? It's one of those days where I feel so full of hope and excitement for the year ahead. Thinking about all the things I want to do and achieve this year. I don't have resolutions per se, but more of a list of achievements I want to accomplish. Maybe you should make a list of the things you want to do, and the things you need to get them done?

AFM - was a busy morning. Yesterday my Mom and I cleaned out my office, and got rid of all my old Computer texts, and 2 old printers and just gobs of wires and other things. We went through all my papers from the past 2 years, cataloged them and put them in my filing cabinet. So this morning we lugged all the garbage down stairs and the books are in my car to go to good will. We also hung all the art I have in the house. Yes I've been in this house for 5 years, and never finished hanging my art! HAHA :haha: So we have that done too. Next will be my clothes again. I mistakenly hung up some of my clothes I was planning on putting in storage boxes, so I need to pull all of that out and do that. I also want to go through my dresser and pull all of the clothes out of there that I'm not wearing and give it to good will. So that will likely keep me busy tomorrow. Then Thursday is my WTF appt with my FS, and after that I want to go shopping for a cabinet for the kitchen to get some of the crap off my counters, and I want to get a TV stand for my TV in the family room. It is currently sitting on my credenza that is supposed to be in the dining room, and I want to get it back into the dining room! So that is what I'm going to spend my Christmas money on. Two pieces of furniture! In future weekends I'm going to tackle the closets in my 2 spare bedrooms and clear them out of the junk I have, as well as the 2 linen closets. Then there is the cavernous area under my stairs! That needs to be dealt with, as well as the garage. OHHHH.. I have a lot to do! I'm on a roll to get the crap out of this house! I think it is my nesting instinct that is kicking in and making me want to get this house ready for the onslaught of baby things!

My list of achievements for 2013:

1. Clear out the clutter in my house!
2. Get back to the gym and continue on with my smoke free, gluten free healthy lifestyle!
3. Make a baby!
4. Get the TCS Technical Team Lead position at work!
5. Meet a man!

OMG that is a long list! I think I can get 4 of those 5 things done, not sure about #5, a man at my age is hard to find. If I can accomplish the other 4, I will be very happy.

Sorry for the long post! HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU ALL

Samsfan your puppies are so cute! What breed? I could stare at them all day :) If the weather is nice maybe a long walk? I am getting dressed now to go for a walk with dh. 40 f today so not too cold.

Never I agree with you, Samsfan your puppies are adorable! What kind are they?

I'm thinking I should go back to work on Friday. I have an assignment that needs to be done by mid-January, and its really important that we meet that deadline. Much as I would like to take Friday to keep working on my house, I really should get my self back to work and get that project done. If I can get it done ahead of time, then I might take a Friday or Monday off after that and have a 3 day weekend. Plus as you said it will be a really short week! To bad more work weeks weren't like that! :haha:

I think your DH just needs to get a sports like hobby, or maybe start training for a triathalon or something? I did that in 2010 and was in awesome shape until I hurt my arch from over use and missed my triathalon :( It was what they call a sprint triathlon. Only 750m swim, 12km bike and 5km run. I was easily able to do the first 2 legs, after only 2-3 months of training. The run was something I was not looking forward to, and figured I would jog/walk it. I wan't doing it to win, just to say 'Look what I did'! Anyway, I find that if you don't like exercising, it is often good to get into a sport that you like. Maybe a pickup basket ball game that is non-competitive? Or is there a work type league in the summer of baseball? Tennis is a great workout, I have friends that play every morning for an hour, and it keeps them in great shape. Then it doesn't feel so laborious? I'm a member at 24 hour fitness, and I am going to give all the NYE resolution people a week to taper off, then start back in there. They have a pool, a basketball court, a spin class room and a pilates/zumba/aerobics room. Plus hundreds of exercise bikes, elipticals, treadmills, and weight machines and free weights. It is HUGE! Plus my membership is cheap.. only $219/yr. I will go in before work, then shower and change there and head into work. I am thinking I will talk with my boss about getting into work closer to 10 in order to accomplish this. I usually stay at work until 6:30 most nights anyway, so why should I get into work by 9? Instead I'll use that extra time to work out! Anyway, you know your DH better than anyone, and probably know what he will do and won't, so maybe you can encourage him to take up some sport? That would be a start! :)

Happy New Year ladies!!!!!!!!

Never - my DH is the same :growlmad:. Apart from cycling/walking 2 miles to work and walking the dog the only exercise he take is raising a :drunk: or for the remote control lol. I rarely sit on my bum unless it's completing job applications or catching up on BnB!

Ali - I think your 2013 list is very doable:winkwink: and I so hope you succeed with everyone of them:flower:. I'm back to work tomorrow but I'm travelling to England until Friday night so it'll still be like a little holiday for me (despite the work bit!) :coolio:

Phil - it sounds like you had a lovely bonding evening:thumbup:. Not long now, how are you feeling?

Sam, Alin, Coy, Twotogo, Terri, Babywhisperer and everybody else - :hi:

AFM - I'm tired as I stayed up until about 1am this morning, and then my DS woke at 5.30 (care of my drunk hubby arriving in from our neighbours!:growlmad:). Christmas decorations all down and the house is back to normal .

Just another day of spotting but a major temp dip to below cover line this morning so I'm putting this AF down to a light screwy one. I'll see what the next day or so holds and I'll maybe adjust FF to today as CD1 as the spotting is more like a staining today. So onwards and upwards for a lot of us this year girls, :dust: to everybody xo

Ali- I love your list of achievements for 2013!

1. Clear out the clutter in my house!--Nah....:haha: Come work on my house instead :winkwink: Now THAT needs work!
2. Get back to the gym and continue on with my smoke free, gluten free healthy lifestyle!--Perfect  Healthy new beginnings
3. Make a baby! -- Perking, perking...Very soon now!
4. Get the TCS Technical Team Lead position at work!--Already in the bag!
5. Meet a man! --That will happen without your even trying!
Hope your champagne headache is better now....No such luck for me :winkwink: as I am breastfeeding I worried about it. I bought a bottle of dh's favorite white wine but we skipped it. He knew I couldn't have it so he skipped it too -awww...lol :) I did get a sip of his Mexcian beer however, lol. Big partier, huh?!

Never- I hope you get time to rest and kudos for trying to get your dh more active!

Phil- can't wait to meet that gorgeous new girl!

Babywhisperer- how was your New Year welcoming? Did you celebrate?

TwoToGo, Angel, Babydust, Terri, Samsfan, FirstTry--all of you wonderful ladies- Hope you have the best year ever!!!

AFM- Crazy day- I have been trying to get on here and read all your posts but keep getting dragged away as soon as I sit in front of the computer  Babes is crying or needs changed or the dd's are fighting, or on and on....Anywho I have to get to the store before they close today to shop for dinner. Have no clue what tp make :haha: I'll figure it out. Will post more soon when I get a chance  lol!
