What a immature inconsiderate *******!!!

Some people function completely normal on weed and do every day tasks, such as work, cook, and do everything you or I does.

My brother is paranoid schizophrenic and it works better than his medicine, for him.

Like the other person said, unless you have been in a situation, you don't know.

And you just said someone was drinking and driving, that's totally different.

and if you read my other post you would see that someone jumped off a hotel balcony because of smoking weed, and my ex was violent when he smoked OR drank.

its all fine and well saying someone functions normally...until something happens. if you feel the need to smoke at least do it when the child is in bed or when you dont have to drive somewhere.

saying "im high and playing with my son" thats is asking for comments. because its shocking, and to many people, upsetting.

I grew up with pothead parents. Did it make them worse parents? Nope. Were they lazy people with no work ethic? Nope. Dad managed a bank and mom worked for Revenue Canada (they process all of the taxes for Canada). Did I miss out on anything as a result? Nope. My brother and I were in all kinds of extra-curricular activities that both of our parents always came to watch. They played with us (more than alot of my friends parents did). We always ate dinner as a family, went on picnics, vacation, etc. They made sure we did our homework and both my brother and I got good grades. We understoon our parents smoked weed at a young age too and it didn't affect us badly. We're both in our 30's now with kids of our own.

Saying all that, I used to smoke alot of weed (I didn't start until I was almost 19, I didn't feel the need to try it sooner like some of my friends since it wasn't taboo for me). I still smoke the occasional joint now. Generally it's when I'm out to my Sunday night poker league and Clara's home getting in some Daddy time. I have smoked (outside) after Clara's gone to bed on the odd occasion too (New Year's Eve for example). Do I think it makes me a bad parent? Nope. Do I care what other people will think of me for admitting this? Nope.

Can I just ask if your LO wakes up to be fed at night? I would love to have a spliff once Ivys in bed but she still wants to be fed every four hours and I'm worried about passing it through the breastmilk!

My parents were often stoned when playing with us as kids. It never caused a single problem for us. It probably made them more likely to play with us actually since they did way more fun stuff than my friend's parents did with them.

Clara rarely does, but I usually have ebm in the freezer that she could have if it happened. If I didn't bf I would probably smoke more often lol.

The same could be true with alcohol though. My dad could be really funny and playful around us when he was drinking. But he also became violent at times with my mom.

IMO doing drugs around children is still wrong. Thats just what i think and i'm not saying your wrong for having a different opinion.

I didn't say all parents who are stoners are more playful, I said mine were. They weren't violent when stoned or even fight. We did get good munchies as kids though. :)

Yep and i'm glad this turned out to be true for you:)

It can just turn into too risky of a scenario if you ask me. Drugs like that can make you happy, funny (hilarious even, i've seen it lol) but it could also make you sad, depressed, angry, or even violent. The reason being is it screws with your brain cells and your not thinking clearly so you never really know for sure how you're going to act. Thats why i refuse to even drink around my baby.

I think if you've done it a thousand times, and reacted completly fine. You're probably going to be completly fine again ... as long as you're buying it off someone you trust, and not the crack head selling dope at the bus stop in the middle of the ghetto.

can i just point out the millions of people who are now coming home from a hard day at work who are cracking open there wine? so many people do things to escape just for a short while we all have things don't we? we cant all be perfect ? smoking is bad , drinking is bad, eating mcdonalds is bad, driving over the speed limit is bad, but how many of us do those things? i bet more than you'd know, and being honest with ourselves? i think people should stop judging everyone so much it really doesn't matter what you say or i say? people are always going to do what they want wether we think its right or wrong? is anyone passing judgement on the posters oh? not really huh? i don't know i wasn't gonna post anymore just cant believe it still going on after i said i was HUNGRY :haha: oh and i might add i'm proper CRAZY if iv'e not had much sleep! lol

relax mummies lets not stress, its not good for anyone  must be all those crazy hormones! :haha: anyway that's my last on this thread i'm done :)

From what I have read, Rinnaroo is not sitting there getting baked and talking about why the sky is blue and letting her son wonder off into dangerous situations. It seems more like a person who may have a beer or a glass of wine to relax at the end of the day. From what I understand, marijuana is illegal because there is no way to regulate it, or figure out if someone is "over the limit" like you can with alcohol. I do not think it is fair to judge her, from what I have read in some of her post- she is a good mother and loves her son very much. :hugs:

Because of personal reasons, I won't touch the stuff, but I know many of people who do smoke it and they are wonderful people, one of them is a mother and one of the best I know.

This may be true but it may not be. However, i have heard of plenty of cases where continued use can change people. Maybe in the beginning they were just fine and having a bit of fun..but after prolonged use it can start to change people.

Sorry Kelly, I hear what you're saying. Not trying to argue btw just giving my two cents :)

Exactly. And in my original post i was sticking up for her. In my following posts i was just giving my opinion on the subject.

Edit:

Sorry for the double post!

Lets not send this thread down the pan please ladies, i've noticed a few of you are getting a little rude as the thread progresses!!

Just thought I'd say my bit. I would never allow anyone under the influence of drugs or alcohol around my child. Smoking weed may be "fun" for some, make them "happy" or whatever. But when you are responsible for a child you should be just that, responsible. I would never drink and look after my child at the same time. And in most cases, marujana has much worse side effects than alcohol which is probably why it is illegal. If it is genuinely used for medicinal purposes or in a situation where you're just hanging out with your mates then fine. I have nothing against it. But no, sorry. Not around children.

Sorry for the double post!

I totally get what you mean. My parents were both drug addicts that lost their kids to the state (I was about 4 years old) and they just never cared. Luckily, I was sent to live with my Aunt and Uncle, who are just wonderful people. But because of my past, it is not something I will allow around my child... we do not even allow alcohol in our home and my hubby works for a well known brewery!! :haha:

You have obviously done no research on this or have any personal experience to make such a comment (the part I bolded). Here's a couple links to show you how incorrect that is. You have a right to your opinion just as much as I do, so if you don't want anyone who has had a drink or smoked a joint near your child that's great. However, you are uninformed if you think the effects of marijuana are worse than alcohol.

I know loads of people that snub cannabis, yet think its ok to drink loads in the evening, drunk or not, your still under the influence around a child. I dont even smoke, so I dont know why I am defending it, it just seems one rule for one and another, lets face it, weed is illegal mainly because of the taxation!.

I personally dont do either around my child, I drink about twice a year and I dont smoke, what everyone else chose to do is up to them but I would not call someone a bad father for smoking pot!

I have actually witnessed weed users first hand and they are always worse than anyone I have seen drunk. Forgive me for not wasting my time researching it, I was speaking from experience.
